Chapter Four||

"Thank you very, very much! I love you!” Veronica shouted into the mic. Veronica and I were into this business for three months now. We played every Friday and Sunday evening and Saturday afternoon. It went really quickly really. That Rachel kid was not our only ‘fan’. We gathered our little fanbase. There were a few girls who came to watch us everyday and Veronica had many followers on Twitter. She made a twitter for us both, but she was the only one who tweeted, really. I’m only online for Call of Duty.

I missed playing Call of Duty. I'm craving to play the new GTA V too. When I came home on Friday and Sunday all the boys were already asleep and when I came home on Saturday the boys were already out to a club. We only saw each other in the morning and in the morning I’m never in the mood for a good game.

We walked back to the barkeeper who handed our bags. To be honest this café wasn’t that bad and the barkeeper was pretty hot. It wouldn’t surprise me if Veronica and him would hit it off sometime soon.
Seriously why am I thinking about something like that? I need to keep focusing on the music now.
Anyways, the point is, the third rule faded. When we finished, Veronica got some water and I got a beer. We hang around a little and then we headed home. But not this time. After Veronica finished her poor little glass of water she told me she was going home. “I’m just really tired. Rachel has been a really hard sleeper these last weeks, I think it’s because I can’t do her ritual anymore. I need to go check on her. Bye Sam, see you next week!” And with a small wave she was gone. Okay.

I stayed for another hour or so. I drank three beers and chatted with the barkeeper. His name was Dan and he played the guitar too. He just got a job to tour with a real band. Woah. “Which band? Do I know them?” He nodded. “Yeah I think you know them. They’re pretty famous.” I smiled. He’s so cool. “Well, what are they called?” I pushed.

My eyes got wide. “You got to be kidding me! One Direction?! Those stupid little guys singing sappy love songs?! You are going to play for them? Why?! Are you mad?!” He laughed. “Yeah I know it’s pretty sad. But they’re famous and this is my chance! There are big bosses walking in and out this café everyday! I play every Tuesday so I got lucky. Your chance is coming soon, I promise.”

And wow, he totally kept that promise for sure.

I thanked him and grabbed my guitar. “See you on Friday Dan!” I shouted. “You can’t! I’m leaving Wednesday!”
I turned around and watched him for a little while. He wasn’t joking. “Well, good luck to you then. I’ll see you somewhere on the television then. Goodbye.” He smiled, waved and I left the café.

I opened the trunk of my car and putted my guitar in there. I sighed about all the new information of tonight and closed it again. I leaned against my car, folded my arms a thought. We got this job to get money for Rachel. But if our job affects Rachel like this Veronica might need to quit. And I kinda liked this job. It might be the first thing I liked since… Eric. NO I DO NOT LIKE ERIC LIKE THAT HE IS MY FRIEND. Just to make sure you won’t think that.

“Excuse me?” I looked up to see were that voice came from. A man with dark, short hair and a pair of sunglasses stood in front of me. “What do you want?” I said. I wasn’t really in the mood of someone having criticism on me again. Not now.

“Hello, I’m Simon Cowell. I’m a boss of a big music company and I want to offer you a new job. You know Dan, right?” I frowned but nodded. You’ve got to be fucking kidding me. “I signed him too. He’s touring with One Direction now.” I nodded again. “I know that Mr. Big Boss. What do you want?” I wasn’t dropping the WTF act. I wanted him to know if he wanted to sign me he should know what kind of girl I am. I am not a girl.

“Like I already said, I want to sign you. I want you and your friend Veronica to be the opening act of One Direction. Dan told me that a girl, Rachel I think, needs to come to. I am willing to do that. All you and Veronica have to do is sign. Are you cool with that?”

“No.” I said. It was the easiest decision I ever had to make. “No.”
That Simon dude looked surprised. “No?”
“And if I may ask, why not?”

I shrugged. “Sure. I mean, it’s a great job and everything. But Veronica and I both have our college, Rachel can’t handle that kind of pressure right know I guess and I simply hate those One Direction dudes. I am not going to tour with those love song singers just to play a song every three nights. Have a good day.”

Simon laughed. “I like you. You’re kind of awesome.” I raised my eyebrows. “Kind of?” He smiled and handed me a small piece of paper. “Here. Think about it. We’re leaving on Wednesday.”

I smiled and got into my car. Dan kept his creepy promise. This was a huge shot for us. But is it the right thing to do?
