Plastered Smile

Don't you hate to always having a fake smile just to please the people around you. Oh, by the way, the name is Coraline. My mother died when I was small, I don't remember her much. But I wish I could forget all about my father... I don't truly want to go into detail. But please, listen to my story before it ends. Anyway, my story starts at school. So there's the sluts, the emo group, jocks, and bullies. Obviously I fit into emo, but I was rejected even by them. My only friend is Crystal, she's the best. But the person I hate most, is Jake and his group. Especially his best friend and also his 'bodyguard', Cage. AGH! I hate them so much!

1. Chapter 1.

I flickered my eyes opened, looking to the side of my bed. Sun rays shined through my window, warming my cold, pale face. I sat up and placed my feet on the chilling floor, sending shivers through my body. I stumbled to my bathroom, gazing at my reflection. My long, red hair fell over my shoulder, curling at ends, and make-up smudged against my skin. I sighed, wiping my face with a warm cloth, making the smudges vanish. I rolled up my sweater's sleeve to stare at the scars the scars that lined my wrists. I blinked and went back to cleaning my appearance. My eyes lifted up to the clock. 6:36 A.M. I exhaled in relief, I had to go to school at 8. I walked to my wardrobe, exploring it for a suitable outfit. I finally decided to grab a 'Pierce the Veil', long sleeved shirt and black, ripped jeans. I threw my outfit on and skipped back to the bathroom. I rummaged through my drawers and finally found my make-up kit. I pulled out blush and tried to make my face, not so, pale... It didn't work. I shrugged and threw it over my shoulder. I grabbed the eye line and applied it to my eyelids. I put on mascara, and I was done! Not to brag, but I looked decently good for my first day. I looked closely in the mirror and realized that my hair was a mess. I grumbled and brushed it out, also straightening it. And yes, my hair is a scene type, nothing against them of course. I checked the clock once more. 7:40 A.M. Damn it! I launched myself out of my bathroom, grabbing my black and white converses and rushing out of my front door. I frantically put my shoes on and ran to school.

I caught my breathe once I reached hell, I mean school. I straightened myself out and walked through the front doors. Student's laughter and chatter rang through my ears. I kept my head low and my eyes down to the floor. Whispers from girls were exchanged, also sneers. I stopped as I saw red sneakers in my way. I lifted my eyes to see Jake, and his group of morons. I kept my eyes glued to the floor.

"Good morning, Coraline." Jake sneered with a small chuckle. "You're looking gloomy as ever." My blood boiled as he and his friends laughed, except for Cage. He usually stood there, absent minded and blank. I pushed Jake aside, making my way down the hallway. A firm grasp latched onto my shoulder, making me flinch. "I don't think I was done talking to you..." Fear and anger crashed over me.

"So... It doesn't matter..." I whispered sheepishly, that got him mad. He whipped me around, making me face him and his friends, my head still down. He lifted my head with his finger.

"It does matter." He smirked, as did his friends. He slowly came forward, luckily I was strong for my body type. I slapped him. Hard. He looked at me in shock, holding his face. I stepped back and bumped into a wall. "Coraline... You shouldn't have done that..." He came closer and closer.

"Jake, we should go." A blank voice sounded from behind Jake. Cage. He walked up to Jake, placing a hand on his shoulder. He gazed at me with blank, gray eyes. Jake growled, then nodded to his friend. He whipped around, walking away. Cage stood there staring at me. "Sorry about him. He doesn't truly understand girls." I shyly looked up at him and nodded. Cage blinked at me then followed his friends to class. I glared at them as they walked away. I hate them all...

A tap on my shoulder rescued me from my dark thoughts. Crystal. "We should go to class, Coraline." She informed me. I nodded and followed my friend to Chemistry. Our first class. [A/N: Pardon me if I get something mixed up in Chemistry, I don't take it my school. Weird, I know.] We took our seats, ignoring the whispers directed at us. The teacher, Mr. Wompus, silenced the class and took attendance. We began fiddling around with acids and chemicals that were on our table. Crystal stared a fire to experiment with Nitric Acid. I was too busy getting lost in daydreams when the fire fell over. A siring pain burned at my skin. I glanced over to see the fire had burned my hand. "Ow, Damn it!" I shouted, holding my scorched hand.

Crystal stopped the fire. "Oh my God, Are you alright, Coraline?!" She frantically worried, looking at my hand. One of the 'school sluts' began to laugh. "Shut up, Natasha!" Crystal's eyes burned with anger as she stared at the smirking brunette. The teacher walked over to me with a worried face.

"Oh my.. Coraline, go see the nurse. Cage, go take her there." I stiffened up as he called my worst nightmare to take me to the nurse. Cage kept a blank face and walked over to me. I looked down and followed him out of the classroom. Me and Cage strolled into the nurse's office to find no nurse. Damn it, now he can kill me without any witnesses.

"Let me see your hand." Cage looked at me with a bandage in his hand. I slowly extended my shaking hand. He gently grabbed it and wrapped it in a cotton bandage. "Roll up your sleeves, the burn went higher up your arm." I was shaking. My sleeves? Well, I guess he won't care. I looked to the side as I rolled up my sleeves.

-Cage's P.O.V-

Shock filled my body as she revealed scars and bruises that lined her skin. I managed to keep my blank self in tact as I bandaged her burns. I felt sick to know that she had these unhealed wounds. She kept on looking away from me, as if I was a monster. Well, I hang out with one, but I'm not. I think.

-Coraline's P.O.V-

I rolled my sleeves down once he was finished. He just stared at me with an absent-minded face. I felt hot under his gaze, and quickly turned away from him. "Thanks..." I sheepishly said, opening the nurse's door. Before I could even take a step, Jake appeared in front of me. Mother of God! Why can't I take a step without seeing this idiot! I thought to myself, holding back the anger.

"Hello Coraline." He grinned evilly, taking a step forward. I stepped back, stumbling into Cage. "Why are you so scared? It's only me." He reached out his hand to touch my face. I closed me eyes and felt no hand. I slowly fluttered my eyes opened to see Cage's hand gripped around Jake's wrist. Cage was fairly stronger and taller then Jake, which made him scared of being beat up. "Cage, let go!" I stepped behind Cage scaredly.

Cage let go and stared down at his friend. "Don't bother, Coraline." He growled, evilly glaring at Jake. Startled by his words, I looked up at him. What. The. Fuck. Jake leaned closer to Cage with a grin.

"I can bother her if I want." Jake told him, chuckling, then whispered something in Cage's ear that made him lose it. He crashed his fist against Jake's face. I could hear Cage mumble 'Asshole' which made me smile a bit. He took my hand and pulled me out of the room, leaving Jake dumbfounded.

-Jake's P.O.V-

I always knew Cage had a crush on the emo bitch. Some day... Some day, I'll steal her away and make him feel heartbroken. That bastard is going to get it one way or another...

*I have nothing against emo or scene people, for I am one. So don't get the wrong idea.*
