Exasperated, that's what I was- am. My pride that was once stored within me has now vanished into billions of particles, dissolved and evaporated into the mass air that surrounds me. Lifeless: nothing more, nothing less. I lay, placidly, willingly, acceptingly, though, my body is no longer belligerent; it's given up.
My name is Kaitlynn Malik and this is my story.

27. Chapter 26.

I tenaciously pressed the button on the remote. My Morphine had worn out and I was in excruciating pain. I released the button just as the nurse had entered my room, refilling my medicine. Behind her, I saw Liam. His eyes were a puffy red as if he had been crying and his hair was a mess. Oh, Liam.
"Kaitlynn..." He trails off, but I know where he was heading with his sentence.
I didn't know what it was that was making him so emotional. Maybe the fact that I had gotten into a wreck because of his actions had caused him to feel guilty, but I wasn't taking any chances. "I know, Li.."
Liam buries his face into my arm as he begins to cry; something I hadn't seen in years.  I carefully lift my left arm, resting my hand in his hair, running my fingers through it.
"I'm so sorry," he sobs. He consistently repeats himself, never stopping to breathe as the words I'm sorry continue to roll off of his tongue. I cannot utter anything. I am completely dumb-founded at the sincerity in Liam's voice, for the first time in three years.
