5. Banquet

Rain's p.o.v.

"And here we are now," I said a couple of hours later after explaining everything. Jake, Zachary, and Malcolm were sitting on the floor; Lexi, Ella, Jakayla, Izzy were on the couches; and I was sitting criss-crossed in Leon's recliner.

"Well, doesn't that make Leon seem like a total sweetheart?" Lexi sighed.

"When did you figure out he was bi-polar?" Izzy asked, watching me intently.

"When he first took me out for the day."

"Get dressed," Leon said, handing me some faded skinny jeans and a Batman t-shirt.

"Why?" I asked moodily.

"Just get dressed!" Leon hissed. I held my hands up in surrender and went to change. After I had finished, I brushed my hair into two pigtails.

"What now?" I asked, walking into the living room.

"Now. We go," Leon said, grabbing my hand and dragging me out of the house. By noon, we had went to all my favorite stores. We stopped at Wendy's for lunch when a sudden surge of nostalgia washed over me. It wasn't a very happy memory, either. Tears sprang to my eyes and I ran from the resturant. I ran out to the car and pulled my knife out from under the seat. I had cut several times before Leon came out of the building, calmly eating a burger. When he saw the blood, he dropped his burger and rage burned in his eyes.

"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!! Why would you do that?!" Leon screamed at me. Suddenly, he became very sad.

"Why? Do you hate me?" His change of mood threw me off completely.

"I don't want you to hate me. I'm bi-polar, but I'm trying to get better. I'll get better. I promise," Leon said quietly.

Once I had finished telling them the story, Jakayla asked if we were going to the banquet.

"Yea," I replied, getting up and going into the kitchen. I came back a minute later with juice for everyone.

"Then we HAVE to help you get ready!" Ella sqeaked before taking a sip of juice.

"You guys are going to turn me into a living barbie doll, aren't you?" I sighed heavily. Ella gave me a devillish smile and waggled her eyebrows.

Rider's p.o.v.

"RIDER! WHERE ARE YOU?!" I heard soon after I left my father's study, the second book in hand. I groaned before grudgingly starting up the stairs.

"Yes, Kim?" I asked, putting the book under the matress. Kim would probably freak if she read it, and I was dealing with enough drama already.

"Just look at this tie I found you!" She squealed, coming out of the closet. In her hands was a very bright pink tie with little hearts on it.

"It matches my dress perfectly! It's already 4:00, so we should start getting ready now!" Kim went on.

"We have three hours until the banquet and the place is only ten minutes away. Why would we have to get ready now?" I replied sleepily. I was really hoping I could take a nap.

"That's hardly enough time, silly!" She replied, giggling. She dragged me into the closet and made me try on multiple different suits until she found one she liked.

"PERFECT!" She screamed. I was wearing a pink suit to match the tie, and a grey t-shirt underneath.

"Do I really have to wear pink?" I complained.

"IT'S NOT PINK, IT'S SALMON!" Kim yelled from the closet, offended. She came out a minute later wearing an extremly short strapless "salmon" dress.

"Don't you think that dress is a little too...revealing?" I asked.

"Oh, stop being so protective. It's fine," Said the girl who freaked and thought I was cheating if I left her side for more than ten minutes.

Rain's p.o.v.

"Aaaand done!" Lexi said, closing the lipstick.

"What do you think?" She said, standing me in front of a full-body mirror.

"Perfect!" I replied. Instead of making me into a barbie, they had turned me into the exact oppisite. I had on a simple red t-shirt, a black jean skirt that went to about six inches above my knees, and knee high black leather boots. And just to make the whole thing work, a black jacket. They hadn't gone overboard on makeup either. I had on a little bit of mascara and some dark red lipstick along with a light perfume. The others had already changed, and now we were waiting for Leon. He came out a few minutes later, and daaaaang, did he look good. He had on a black button down t-shirt, dark blue jeans, and some converse. He smirked when he caught me checking him out.

"It's 5:30. Shall we go so that we can be early?" Jake asked fomally, which caused us all to crack up with laughter. When we got to the building, I looked in astonishment at how big it was.

"What is this baquet for again?" I asked Leon, my fingers laced with his.

"I have no idea. You look AMAZING by the way," He whispered in my ear, causing me to shiver.

"You don't look half bad yourself," I said as we walked into the building. It seemed even bigger on the inside than it did the outside.

"Well, well, if it isn't Leon and Rain," Kimberly practically sneered from across the empty hall, walking over to us in a pink dress so short it should have been illegal.

"*Cough* slut *cough,*" Ella said as we watched Kimberly aproach us, slowed down once again by her ridiculous heels.

"I didn't think you'd show after that little boo-hoo moment you had a few days ago," Kimberly said snarkily. I felt Leon tense beside me and I gave his hand a reassuring squeeze, planning to just let that one go.

"And I can't forget about my boyfriend's lunatic brother, can I?" She cooed. I let go of Leon's hand and walked forward calmly, grabbing her by her neck, my hand loose.

"You don't want to try me. You REALLY shouldn't do that," I growled. She laughed at me and I tightened my grip.

"RIDER! HELP!" She squealed as loud as she could, now clawing frantically at my hand, trying to get me to release her. I let her go, but only because I was laughing too hard. Rider walked out of what I guessed was the kitchen wearing the most ridiculous pink suit I had ever seen.

"Hello brother," Leon said, trying hard not to laugh, something I had already failed on doing.

"What a....pretty choice of attire," Leon continued. Rider gave Leon a sour look before turning to Kimberly, who had fallen to the ground after I had released her, the heels finally getting the best of her.

"What do you want, Kim?" Rider asked rather harshly.

"She tried to choke me!" She snapped, pointing at me.

"Oh calm down. It's not like I'd kill you, yet. Plus, I wasn't even trying that hard. I was just trying to get my point across," I snarled. Rider looked from me, to Kimberly, to Leon, back to me again. Somehow, everyone else had managed to dissappear, finding "things to do".

"Why?" Rider asked me.

"Um, hello! Still sitting on the floor," Kimberly said impatiently.

"Why not? She obviously can't tell when to shut her mouth, even when faced with someone who could easily go 'snap' and break her neck," I replied.

Rider's p.o.v.

"I think we should go sit down now," Leon said awkwardly, grabbing Rain's hand as the room slowly filled with people. I watched, enraged, as he led Rain away. I saw him whisper in her ear and she giggled loudly.

"STILL ON THE FLOOR!" Kim yelled at me, causing me to cringe. I pulled her up and took her to her seat, almost choking on the smell of her perfume. We basically sat there the entire banquet, not socializing with anyone. All of my friends were sitting with Leon and Rain, obviously avoiding Kim.

"Why haven't you complimented me yet?!" Kim asked out of the blue.

"What?" I asked, confused.

"I look BEAUTIFUL and you haven't even said anything!" She whined. I facepalmed myself before replying.

"Kim, you shouldn't fish for compliments. Not so obviously, at least," I sighed.

"I wouldn't have to if you would have complimented already!" Kim said loudly, causing a scene. Everyone, including Leon and Rain, were now staring at us.

"Excuse me," I said, standing and exiting the back door.

'Come outside through the front, Angel. Don't argue. I need to talk to you,' I thought, sending a message to Rain.

'Fine,' She replied.
