8. 21 Questions

Rider's p.o.v.

After an excrucuating day of training, Rain finally let us rest at around three while she did one-on-one training. I hadn't seen Leon all day, so of course I had to ask,

"Where's your knight in shining armor now?"

"Out," She grunted as she pinned yet another one of my pack members.

"Figures," I mumbled, just before Rain called me up to the mat. I stood face-to-face with her as she told me what to do. All I basically had to try to do was pin her to the mat in under 10 minutes. She was going to try and do the same to me.

"Don't worry. I'll go easy on you, Angel," I said confidently. She snorted and rushed me as soon as her beta, Sage, said to begin. Next thing I knew, I was staring up at the sky, Rain's knee buried in my gut and her hand placed firmly over my mouth.

"Not so cocky now, are you pretty boy?" She asked, a look of disgust and disappointment on her face. I hated that look, but lately, I'd seen it a lot.

"Nice job, princess. Still getting underestimated, I see," I heard a voice say from above. I saw Rain grin before letting me up off the ground. She helped me up as Leon dropped from above.

"Couldn't keep quiet, could you?" Rain asked, walking toward Leon.

"Were you up in a tree the entire day?!" I asked, following Rain.

"Yupp. This is Rain's project, not mine," He answered.

"You guys can go home now. I expect everyone who failed, which is everyone except for Jake and Isabelle, to be back here Wednesday at 6," Rain said to everyone, who seemed grateful to leave. I walked a small distance away before hiding behind a tree.

"I'd ask how your day went, but I already know, princess" I heard Leon say to Rain, pulling her close, causing her to giggle like a little school girl. I felt sick to my stomach.

"You know, you could make it better," She whispered.

My head began to spin as Leon leaned in slowly. Soon they were full on making out, Rain's fingers tangled in Leon's hair, and I seriously felt like dying. But still, I didn't move. Then the hands. I saw Leon's hands grab the hem of Rain's shirt before she stopped his wandering hands.

"Not outside!" Rain laughed, breaking away from Leon and going back toward their house.

"It isn't nice to eavesdrop, Rider. You might see things you shouldn't," Leon said, turning and looking toward the tree I was behind, his expression changing extremely.

"Nothing gets past you, does it?" I said, trying to lighten the mood as I revealed myself.

"Why are you still here?" He asked, anger clear in his voice.

"I don't think you deserve Rain. Hell, I don't even deserve her, so what makes you think you do?" I stated, crossing my arms defiantly.

"I don't," He growled, his eyes shining with anger.

"Then why are you still with her?" I asked, seriously curious.

"I'm not still with her. She's still with me. You think I trap her here? You think I haven't asked and pleaded countless times with her to leave? To go and be with you?" He asked, choking up midway through his little speech. I wasn't buying that crap. He was just trying to gain my sympathies.

"I want to spend another day with Rain," I requested.

"Thursday," Leon said simply, turning to go back into the house.

"I already marked her! She's mine!" I shouted after Leon.

"Dear, dear brother, don't you ever read what your father gives you?" was Leon's only response before going back inside.

Rain's p.o.v.

"I'm bored," I whined. It was the next day, and Leon was trying to teach me chess at a park while Sage walked Finn.

"Then what do you suggest we do?" Leon asked, sitting back in his chair.

"Hmmmmmm..... I know! Let's play 21 questions!" I shouted, attracting the attention of an old couple who was walking by with a yorkie terrier. They smiled knowingly at Leon  and I before continuing on their way.

"What's 21 questions?" Leon asked curiously.

"It's a game where we each take turns asking each other questions about whatever until we both reach 21. BUT, you have to answer truthfully," I explained. 21 questions was my all time favourite game as a kid.

"Ok, who goes first?" Leon asked, stretching his arms out. I couldn't help but notice how the muscles in his arms flexed. He was ripped. I mean da-

"Princess? Earth to Rain," Leon said, trying to get me out of la la land.

"Wha-OH, um, I'll go first," I stammered, my cheeks heating up. Leon gave me a knowing smirk.

"What's your favourite wild animal?" I asked after a lot of thought. Yep, such a deep and revealing question.

"I'd have to say a wolf," He said, his eyes gleaming with amusement.

"C'mon, I meant one that doesn't run in your genes," I teased.

"Fine. Uhhh, panda," He said after a while.

"Panda?!" I asked, laughter bubbling up inside me.

"Yea. They're big and fluffy and are always like 'wussup dudes!'" He said in a horrible impression of a hippie. I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard.

"Ok. What's your favourite color?" He asked.

"Emerald green," I said automatically, "not like, the dark emerald green, but the shiny emerald green."

"Really? I thought it was red, because, you know, the hair," Leon asked, disbelieving.

"Really. Shiny emerald green hair would look silly. My turn!" I said happily, trying to think of a good question.

"If you could hang out with three people for a day, fiction or non-fictional, from ANY time period, who would they be?" I asked a few minutes later.

"Does it have to be a human?" He asked.

"No, it doesn't have to be human," I said after a moment's thought.

"Ok. Those three people who I'd spend the day with would be Finn the Human and Jake the Dog from Adventure Time, and you," he said goofily.

"Ok, my turn. Would you rather have a baby elephant that could blow fire out of it's trunk, or a baby unicorn and why?" He asked.

"Unicorn all the way! Unicorns shoot happy rays out of their horns, fart rainbows, and poop skittles!" I said as it was the most obvious thing in the world. He looked at me like I was insane before breaking into a fit of laughter. His laugh was contagious, and soon we were both laughing like lunatics.

"What is the first thing you'd do if you woke up a woman? Besides waking up, of course," I asked, laughing at the utter confusion on his face.

"What kind of question is that!?" He asked.

"My question. Now answer it," I commanded.

"I honestly have no idea. Probably complain about womanly things, or explore my totally luscious lady lumps!" He said, saying the last part in a impression of a snobby girl. I started to laugh uncontrollably as he pretended to file his nails.

"What's your favourite pizza topping?" Leon asked.

"Hmmmmmm, I love pepperoni, but I also love pineapple, but, I guess if it came down to it, pepperoni," I said after a while.

I took a minute thinking up a question before the perfect one came to mind.

"If you were a piece of candy, what type would you be and why?" I asked.

"Skittles. So that you could 'taste the rainbow,'" Leon said, rubbing his hands up and down his body in a seductive manner. I swear I'm going to die of laughter before this games is over.

"Ok, ok, ok," I said, trying to catch my breath, "let's go on to more serious questions."

"What's your best memory from your life before the whole 'I'm a werewolf, hear me roar,' thing happened?" Leon asked once our laughter had died down. That was one I actually had to think about for a minute.

"I'd have to say a few months before my 14th birthday, when I was allowed to create a YouTube channel," I said slowly.

"Fair enough. Your turn," Leon said, watching as a monarch butterfly landed on the tip of my queen. I had to think a lot before figuring out a question to ask.

"What's your earliest memory?" I asked, leaning forward slightly.

"Lexi and I's 3rd birthday. Lexi and I ended up starting a huge cake fight because I tried to take her ice cream," He said with a small smile.

"My turn. Is there anything you'd change about me?" He asked, suddenly getting serious.

"Nope," I said with complete confidence, reaching across the table and taking Leon's hand in mine, "Not one thing."

Rider's p.o.v.

"Ewww! It's that filthy mutt again!" Kim screeched from beside me. I looked up from my grandfather's journal just in time to see Finn snatching a Frisbee out of the air. I disguised the book as Moby Dick because I knew Kim would never even think of looking in it. I looked to see who was the source of the Frisbee and saw Sage laughing with Lexi.

"Bring it here, Finn!" Lexi shouted as Finn began to run the other way. I stopped her as she and Sage ran after him.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, looking around for Rain.

"Nice try. They're on the other side of the park," She said with a roll of her eyes.

"Lexi! Help! Finn's attacking me!" We heard Sage scream through her laughter. Sage had fallen over from laughing and Finn had climbed on top of her and proceeded to lick her face.

"Where are they?" I asked, grabbing Lexi by the arm as she tried to go back to Sage and Finn.

"Playing chess. Let me go!" She hissed, pulling her arm out of mine. I looked at her in shock as she went back over to Sage and Finn. I waited 10 minutes before standing and shutting my book.

"C'mon Kim. We're going for a walk," I said, pulling Kim up by her arm. If I had wanted to leave any earlier, Kim would have gotten suspicious. We spent another 10 minutes walking to the other side of the park. I could hear Rain and Leon's voices before I saw them.

"My last question. The big 21. Hmmmmmm, what's your dream wedding?" I heard Rain ask.

I froze, realizing they were playing 21 questions. I saw Kim jerk her arm away from mine and spray a LOT of her perfume. Thankfully, she didn't continue walking.

Rain's p.o.v.

"Dream wedding, huh?" Leon said, lapsing into deep thought. Suddenly, he looked up, alert, and smelled the air cautiously.

"What is it?" I asked. He seemed to snap out of his trance.

"Thought I smelled Kimberly's perfume, but that's impossible. This is our territory," He stated, still concentrating. After a while, he shook it off and went back to my question.

"My dream wedding would be outside in a wide open field. It would be a small ceremony with only friends and family, and it would be formal, but not super formal. My best man would probably be either Jonathan or Zachary, and my bride would be wearing a magnificent dress of her choice. Lastly, when the veil would be lifted off of the bride, there, standing in front of me, would be you, looking as beautiful as ever," Leon said, looking lost in thought. When he turned and saw me watching him, mouth agape, he looked down and blushed slightly.

"Awww, that is so sweet," I squealed, pulling Leon into a tight hug. We had long since moved from our chess table and onto a bench not that far away. I kissed his cheek multiple times before releasing him.

"And here I was thinking you'd say it was corny and stupid," He mumbled, his cheeks still red.

"That's not corny or stupid. It's beautiful," I whispered, pulling him in for a kiss. Our lips were literally centimeters away when I heard an irritated voice call out,

"Hello Leon and Rain. What a coincidence meeting you two here."

Leon chuckled quietly, his breath tickling my face before whispering "told you," and pulling away from me.

"Rider, Kim, why are you 2 on our territory?" I asked, looking at the idiotic couple standing in front of me.

"We just thought we'd take a walk, ya 'know?" Rider said lightly.

"I swear I'm going to end up killing the both of you if you're on out land without permission again, understand?" Leon said angrily.
