Justin's POV

'Felicity? W-what are you doing here?' I asked, groaning slightly from the pain.

'I was walking past when I saw you, and came rushing over.' She replied frantically, tucking a piece of her cranberry-brown hair behind her ear.

'Well you better go, I don't need your help.' I said, trying to stand up.

Suddenly, a sharp pain struck my ribcage and I crouched over, tears forming in my eyes.

The pain was agonizing.

'Ohmygosh Justin, just stand still. I'm going to call the ambulance.'

She said, pulling her smartphone out of her pocket.

'No, don't.' I choked out, clutching my chest.
'Why not? Justin you could've broken a rib.' She says, pulling the phone to her ear.

'Doesn't m-matter. Going to the h-hospital will make me look w-weak.' I said, cringing.

She stared at me in disbelief as she talked to the lady on the other side of the phone.

When she hung up, stating an ambulance was on its way, I heard the desperate and helpless cries of my mother.

I winced, not wanting to know what that monster is doing to her.

'Huh? Who's that?' Felicity asked, alarmed.

'M-my mom.' I choked out.
She gasped, a hand going over her mouth.

'Is she being beaten?!' She asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

I didn't reply, I just sunk down on the front step of the house, squeezing my eyes shut in pain. Soon, an ambulance siren was heard echoing trough the neighborhood, until I saw its flashing lights.

They pulled up at the curb of the house, and rushed out, bringing a stretcher with them. The paramedics helped me up, and wheeled me towards their vehicle.

My gaze turned to felicity, who was talking quickly to the paramedic and pointing towards the house.

Soon I felt a breathing mask over my lips, and I started to fell drowsy.

I woke up to a beeping noise. I opened my eyes, to soon shut them from the impact of the bright light.

I yawned, as I wearily looked around the white room that had the smell of hospital hand-sanitizer.

That's it, the hospital.

I tried sitting up, but an agonizing sharp pain stopped me from doing so.

I groaned and lay back down, to discover I had a bad age wrapped around my torso.

I sighed, and looked to my left, to see a heart-monitor, beeping at a steady pace. Then, the door of the hospital room door was opened, and that familiar cranberry-brown hair was seen on the girl who walked in.

'You're awake.' She cried, walking slowly towards me.

'Yeah.' I replied wearily, my voice more hoarse then it normally is.

'Feeling better?' She asked, sitting in a fold-out chair that was placed beside the bed.

'Yeah, kind of.' I said, looking into he eyes.

'What are you doing here?' I asked her, slightly surprised that she would still be here.

'I wanted to see if you were ok.' She replied, twirling a piece of her hair.

'But why?' I asked her again, curious of what she would answer.

'Because I wanted to?' She replies, shrugging slightly.

'Wont Ryan be angry?' I asked softly, as she looked up.

'Probably.' She replied, shrugging again.

‘Then shouldn’t you go then?’ I asked, a blank stare occupying my face.

‘If you really want.’ She said, getting up, ready to leave. Then I felt bad, I mean she rung the hospital and got them to come to me, even if I said I didn’t need them (which I most certainly did). I sighed before saying,

‘No, please don’t go.’ As she was about to twist the knob on the hospital room door. she whipped her head around to look at me, staring at my confused with her icy blue eyes.

They were stunning.

I shook my head absent-mindedly, to feel a pain in my neck. Felicity chuckled lightly, before she approached my bed-side again.

‘Justin, remember you had a killer cut on your neck?’ she said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. I chuckled lightly, before feeling the sticky surface of the bandage.

‘Oh yeah.’ I said, chuckling again. She smiled at me, before sitting down where she was originally.

‘So, what did I break, bruise or cut?’ I asked, chuckling again at all the possibilities.

‘Well, you broke 3 ribs, cut your neck, broke your nose and bruised your chest.’ She said, twisting her fingers in her lap.

I gaped at her slightly, before noticing the bandage stuck among my nose. I shook my head slightly in disbelief, before bringing my hand up to my hair and running it through it.

She weakly smiled at me, before looking down at the white tiles of the hospital floor.

‘Wow.’ Was all I could say.

‘That explains to why I’m in so much pain.’ I said, shifting slightly to feel the pain in my ribs.

‘Yeah.’ She said, tucking a apiece of her behind her ear.

‘Oh, thank you felicity.’ I said, smiling weakly at her.

‘No problem Justin.’ She said, smiling widely at me.

That’s when thoughts of my mother’s condition and the state my step-father were in struck me.

‘Ah, do you know anything about my mom or step-dad?’ I asked her, successfully sitting up without feeling pain.

‘Um, I think your mom is in the intensive care unit.’ She said, biting down on her bottom lip. I furrowed my eyebrows slightly, as tears welled up in my eyes.

Is she ok? will she live, survive?

‘And you step-dad, is at the police-station… for questioning.’ She says, looking down at the floor. I gaped again, as a few tears fell form my eyes. I closed my mouth eventually and looked down at my lap.

‘Was… was your step-dad the one abusing you Justin.’ She said, reaching out for my hand and grabbing it. I flinched slightly, before looking up at her.

I’ve never been touched so carefully.

I stared into her eyes, before clearing my throat as my eyes darted to the hospital room window, to see the beautiful dark-blue night sky, sequined with stars.

‘Yeah.’ I croaked out, looking back at her. She gaped at me, before carefully running her thumb across mine.

‘I’m so sorry.’ She said, shaking her head slightly in disbelief.

‘It’s not your fault.’ I replied, shaking my head.

She sighed, before sending me a warm smile.

‘You’re so brave Justin.’ She said, rubbing her thumb across mine again. I smiled back at her in response.

‘What time is it?’ I asked, looking around the room.

‘Ah, 5 past 10.’ She said, looking up from her watch.

‘Shouldn’t you go home? I mean, won’t your parents be worried. I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble.’ I said my face filling with concern. She sighed and let go of my hand.

I feel cold without her touch.

‘They won’t care Justin.’ She said, shaking her head, before standing up.

‘Well, why not?’ I asked her, watching her take her cellphone out of her pocket.

‘They… they favor my sister. They don’t listen to me.’ She said, tears in her eyes.

‘Hey,’ I said, getting her attention, ‘I’m sure they do, deep down.’ I finished, pointing towards my chest (indicating to my heart).

She smiled at me, before leaning down and carefully kissing my cheek.

‘Thanks Justin,’ she said, before walking towards the door and leaving. I pulled my hand up to my cheek to gently touch the spot she kissed.

Huh? She kissed me?
