37. Chapter 36

•Camille•

A few days passed and I still felt like crap. I didn't get to say goodbye to Zayn or any of the boys. I haven't been to school, either. The last person I talked to was Jordan, simply because I needed the homework assignment before I went back. I was supposed to go back to school today, after the doctors appointment that I didn't want to go to. But of course, my mom insisted upon seeing the doctor because I've been getting worse.

"How've you been Camille?"

I wanted to make a sarcastic remark like What do you think? I'm at the doctors. Of course I feel awful. I didn't say that, for obvious reasons.

"Bad." Was my reply.

"Bad how?"

"I'm not hungry ever and I just...don't feel good."

"In case you couldn't tell, doctor, her skin looks sort of yellow. Her friend pointed it out to me the other day."

"So this has been going on for how long?"

"About three or four days? Right Camille?"

"Around there." I replied, though it's been a week.

"Uh huh." Her orange nails smacked the keys on her laptop.

Usually, the tapping noise would soothe me, but this time, the excessive noise made me want to take it from her and throw it as far as possible.

"What about the bathroom? Is everything normal? Is your urine different?"

"I don't tend to look at my pee before I flush the toilet."

"Camille." Mom warned.

"Could you pee in this cup."

"Sure, why not?"

After using the bathroom and bringing it back to the lady who kept obnoxiously typing, she looked at me.

"Is this darker than usual?"

"I don't know. Like I said earlier, I don't look at my pee."

"Just give me an answer. What do you think?"

"I guess!" I threw my hands up in exasperation. "I don't know!"

She still seemed unaffected by my tone. "Have you had any headaches or stomachaches?"

"My stomach has been hurting a lot."

"Alrighty. Blood sugar?"

"A little low, I think."

"Nausea or vomiting?"

"I've been nauseous."

"Hmm." Dr. Pace stared at the screen. "We're going to get you tested for pancreatic cancer."
