30. Where is he?!

Justin’s POV

‘Justin, honey!’ Arden called from the living-room, making me roll my eyes.

I’m not her boyfriend; she should know not to call me that.

“Yeah?” I called, getting up from my bed.

“Dinner’s ready!” she called again, as I walked out of the bedroom door straight into the living-area.

“Oh, thanks Arden.” I said, as I sat at the table looking at the stir-fry she made.

“Look, I know this might be what you don’t like maybe want but-”

But I cut her off by chuckling and saying,

“Arden, its fine.” She smiled, showing her fake whites, and sat down opposite me.

I picked up the sliver fork, which had some floral engravings in the end, and starting picking at my stir-fry.

When my mouth was full of food, Arden asked me,

“Is it ok Justin?”

“Yeah ith’s greach.” I said, spitting food out as my cheeks turned red.

She giggled and passed me a napkin. I took it from her and dabbed my face with it.

“Glad you like it.” Arden said, before finishing off her plate.

She got up from the table and picked up her plate, walking towards the sink. I finished quickly, and rushed to get my plate to the sink.

The least I could do was wash the dishes; I mean she made me this meal.

But she was the one who asked me to come down here in the first place.

I shook my head, ignoring my conscious, and setting a hand on her shoulder.

“Hey, I’ll wash them for you.” I said, nudging her out of the way, and grabbing the plate she was washing.

“Oh Justin, such a gentleman.” She said, kissing my cheek before walking off towards what I think was her bedroom.

I cringed, and wiped my cheek from the bright pink lipstick mark she probably left on it.

Jessica’s POV

I sighed as I walked through the front door of Chloe’s house and my gaze met her blue eyes.

“Sweetie, you look hella tired, come sit down.” she said, pressing her cold hands to my back and pushing me into the living room.

I sat on the leather couch and moved a few sandy colored cushions aside. I ran a hand through my hair and looked over at Chloe again.

She was sitting in a singular recliner, with her feet propped up on the glass coffee table, showing her mauve fluffy socks.

I loosened the scarf from around my neck and took it off, placing in on the coffee table.

“So, how’s work?” I asked her, as she rubbed her hands together for warmth.

“Oh it’s great. I got a raise from minimum wage.” Chloe said, chuckling slightly. ‘

“Oh wow.” I replied, not certain of what to say.

“So how are the boys?” Chloe asked, smiling slightly.

Chloe absolutely loves Flynn and Zach. She goes on and on about how cute they are and about how she’ll look after them anytime I need her to.

It’s really nice of her, but I would never let her take time off work just to look after them.

“They’re great, but they miss Justin.” I said, murmuring the last bit.

“Oh. Well, speaking of Justin, do you let him see them?” she asked softly, uncertain of whether it was a right thing to ask.

But Chloe’s my best-friend, and I’m willing to tell her every single detail about what’s going on.

“Well, he begs me to let him see them. But I won’t let him until he cleans up his act. He’s back on drugs, chlo.” I said, bowing my head.

“Sh*t.” Chloe said, running a hand through her long blonde hair.

“I know. But I haven’t heard from him in ages. I should ask Chris. For all I know, he’s died from an overdose!” I exclaimed, my heart aching just at the thought.

“Don’t think like that.” Chloe said, her voice saddening, “but I think you should ask Chris how he’s going, just to make sure.”

“I’ll call him now.” I said, pulling my phone from my blue skinnies. I scrolled through my contacts until my fingertip landed on Chris’s name.

It started ringing and Chloe said,

“Put it on speaker.”

So I tapped the speaker icon and placed the phone on the coffee table.

“Hey, Chris speaking.” Chris’s low voice boomed through the speaker.

“Oh hey Chris, it’s Jess.” I said, biting down on my bottom lip.

“Oh hey.”

“Um, I just wanted to ask about Justin. I mean I haven’t heard from him in days and I just wanted to ask how he’s going.”

Chloe shuffled in her seat and bent down forward, to hear his voice better.

“Oh, ah. Well, I asked about Justin the other day at a meeting. All his things are packed up, and I myself haven’t seen him in days. But Levi said he’d gone to a friend’s house in Milverton."

I furrowed my eyebrows and looked over at Chloe.

“Oh thanks Chris. Um, I have to go now. See ya.”

“No problem, bye Jess.” Then he hung up.

Chloe looked at me with confused eyes.

“Justin doesn’t have any friends in Milverton.” I said, shaking my head.

It's partially because I can't think of anything GOOD to put into a chapter.
