Learning to Trust

*Sequel to Different From the Rest*
Kady is grown up now. She is now eighteen, a far cry from fourteen. There is no One Direction, if you asked your kids about them they'd be like "are you high again?" Kady's stutter is long gone, but the fears from it will never surrender. Being alone, forgotten, useless. Mainly she can't trust, anyone, not others around her, not herself. She makes a mistake that can't be fixed, and must go on with her life. Kady has to learn that you must leave the past behind you before you can move forward and not all mountains can be moved. It's a bowl of cherries, with a few-no many, nuts thrown in.

5. The Return of Summer

Remember that idiot, Summer, the one that had Harry's baby? Yeah, well, she wants an invite too and doesn't stop texting me. She thinks it's "only fair" that we give her an invite. Playing the fair game Summer? Immature. She practically gave Emme to Harry then left. And I know this because I often look after her when Harry's busy. Summer can't get over her partying ways and reportedly now has a baby boy, that lives with her. She says she won't take in Emme because "the two kids would not get along." Bullshit.

To: Kady Brown
From: Summer Corbett

Heard you and Liam are getting married! When are you going to send the invite to me, after all I am the mother of Harry Styles' baby.
-Summer

What annoys me the most is she texts in full sentences and uses correct grammar, for heaven's sake, it's a text not the SATs.

This is not the last you'll hear from me Brown, and I will get Emme back and Harry will never ever see her again.
-Summer

I ignore Summer, she's so immature. Stealing Emme, come on, please Summer acts like a bad ass when she's like that annoying character on the rolls at the supermarket. Hostess Snowball. When I don't reply in fifteen seconds, Summer sends me another text, then another, then another. I read them, but I don't reply it's all about how Emme is hers and will never be Harry's ever again. When will this girl give up? It's not happening, nada.
"What is it Miss Kady?" Liam asks.
"Just Summer being the bitch she is again," I say showing him the texts, "She thinks she's such a bad ass."
"Should we tell Harry?" Liam asks quietly.
"No, Summer is just being immature and trying to scare us into inviting her to the wedding," I say. It's nothing new having a lot of people asking if they can come to the wedding. It breaks my heart every time I say no. For the most part, not to Taylor and Summer. I when I say no, gossip blogs owned by Perez Hilton say I disinvited them because I'm too self centered. They come for you the children of the corn, with a platform. I just have to learn to ignore them. I always thought I'd be one of those people that don't care about what other people say about them, but I'm just not one of those people. I take everything to heart. I put my head into the cushion of the couch. Li strokes my hair, he knows how much the paps get to me and how much I hate Summer. To cheer me up, he take the picture frame off the table next to him and he shows me the pictures. But this frame isn't any old frame, it's the digital frame I got him for Christmas in 2013 at Louis' house. I stare at the pictures that flash before my eyes. I instantly think of song lyrics, 'playing games in the street, kickin balls with my feet, there's a knot in my toes from standing close to the edge, there's a pile of my clothes at the end if your bed.' I thought of that because the first picture was of me and Liam biking, then playing soccer, then jumping into a pool, then a picture of me, Perrie, El, Liam, Louis, Harry, Zayn, and Niall in our onesie pajamas at Louis' birthday bash, the one where I gave Li this frame.
"I remember that day, it was the day before we left for London during Christmas break," I say in a small voice.
"It was also the last day of not being attacked by the press," he says. Li has a point, the next day was when the world found out Liam and I were dating, not Niall and me. It was one on my last days of being remotely happy. Well, my truly my last happy day was before my sickness, when I was normal, but I'm not even going to think of that the past is the past and there's no way of going back. Now there are pictures of us on our trip in London. Liam must have put them on the flashdrive because I didn't, "Oh, you put these pictures on the drive, Li?"
"No, I thought you did," we both look at each other in confusion, then our eyes grow wide. The next photo scares the shit out of me. It's a picture of Emme as a baby with typed words on it saying, 'say your last goodbyes to her.' It could only be one person, Summer.
