Rome was a normal girl who lived in a village, that was until she was cursed by a prophecy.

13. Chapter Thirteen

To say the rest of the clan and pack were surprised would be an understatement. They were confused at first about there being an angel in our clan/pack, but I explained to them that he could be trusted. I believe that he won't betray us.

He's been here for a week now and seems to be adjusting well. Zeke has stated that Devon doesn't know about his change of alliance, so Zeke has still been getting letters. He gives them to me first so that I can read them and then I let him write back to Devon.

I walk out of my office and walk to Nathaniel's room. I knock on the door. He opens it and smiles at me. I smile back. I walk into his room, which is a mess as always.

"You should really clean up in here." I joke, although I'm being a tad bit serious. Nathaniel laughs.

"I can think better when my room is a mess." I nod my head. I haven't really talked to Nathaniel ever since Zeke got here. I've just been so busy with making sure everything is in order.

"I'm sorry I've been distant lately." I apologized. Nathaniel shook his head.

"Don't be sorry. I know you're busy." Nathaniel leaned down and brought his lips to mine. I kissed him back. I pulled away. "I found something the other day." I furrowed my eyebrows. We walked out of his bedroom. I followed him up some stairs that led to some other bedrooms. We walked to a room and he opened the door. He turned on a light.

I've never been in this room before. It looked like it had been someone's office a long time ago. Nathaniel pulled open a drawer and took a folder out of it. He handed it to me.

"What is it?" I asked him. I felt hesitant to open the folder.

"It's a file on Devon and your mom. Apparently the head of the clan was tracking them. He died in a war a while back." I bit my lip. The file has information about my parents. I've always wanted to know what kind of person my mother was. She was always so kindhearted, but she was secretive. Maybe I could feel close to her if I read this.

"Thank you." I said to Nathaniel. I wasn't sure how to feel about this, but I was thankful to Nathaniel for showing me this. Nathaniel smiled at me.

"You can read it whenever you're ready." I nodded my head. Nathaniel left the room to leave me alone to my thoughts. I opened the folder. It had a picture of Devon. It had his basic information, like height, weight, and when he was turned. I had always assumed Devon was a pureblood. He always acted like one.

"Devon has been sneaking around even more now. I assume he's meeting up with his mate. I've been keeping an eye on the both of them. They're trouble. I've decided there is only one thing I can do. I must curse them. How could I hurt them? They're strong, I know that. I heard a rumor that Elena is pregnant. If only there was a way to figure out if those rumors were true. Until next time...."

Was this who cursed me? I decided to read the next entry.

"My suspicions were true...Elena is pregnant. Now there's only one thing to do. I must curse the child. It will be difficult, but I have a witch friend that'd be more than happy to help. I believe the curse will set in place by the time the child is sixteen. I am a genius!"

I suddenly felt sick. Why did I get to take over his clan?  This guy was sick. Why would he want to do that to my parents....to me?

I shut the folder and left the room. I walked to Zeke's room. I knocked. He opened the door.

"What's up?" He asked. I handed him the folder. "What is this?"

"It's the guy who ran this clan before the last war, which was before I was born. Just read it and tell me what you think." I pointed to the two entries I read. Zeke nodded his head. "He is the one who cursed me. He of course had a witch help him. The witch that helped him could still be alive. We could get some answers."

"But why would, whoever this person is want to help you?" Zeke had a point. "I'm sorry." I shook my head.

"Don't worry about it." I faked a smile. "Just return the folder to my office when you're done reading it." He nodded his head. I walked off. In my hurry to go outside I ran into something solid. "Sorry," I muttered.

"Rome," he called out. I turned around. "Are you okay?" Shade asked me. I nodded my head. I noticed that Shade didn't look well. I also noticed that Luna hadn't been present recently. They're weakening because they haven't had each other's blood. The only reason I'm doing this is to get away for a while. I let Luna take over.

"Rome will be alright. She has just been working herself too hard." Shade nodded his head. He walked closer to me.

"Are you okay?" I smiled.

"Of course," I replied. He nodded his head. I realized how weak I felt. I sat down on the couch. Shade sat down next to me. His blood smelled so good. My eyes turned darker I'm sure. Shade brought his lips to my neck and bit down. He drank my blood until he was satisfied. It was my turn now.

After we were done with drinking each other's blood we stayed seated on the couch. We haven't talked very much.

"What do you think of Zeke?" I asked Shade. He shrugged his shoulders.

"He seems to be trustworthy, but I don't know. We just don't know him yet." I nodded my head. Rome can be very trusting at times. But she's usually right about people.

"I understand." I said. "Did you know about Dominic?" I have known about the head of this clan, although I don't know how I know. I just do.

"I knew he ran this clan before Rome, but that's all I knew of him." I nodded my head. I believe Shade. Even if he is hiding something from me it's for good reason. It could reveal too much.  And the moon Goddess obviously doesn't want that to happen.

I decided to let Shade go do his own thing and let Rome take back control.

I'm sitting in my office now. I need to talk to the witch that helped Dominic with cursing me. But Zeke seems to think that he wouldn't help us. He's probably right, but there could be a small chance he would. I need to take that small chance.

I made my decision and walked to Zeke's room. I knocked on the door. He opened the door and let me come in. He watched me curiously.

"You've made a decision?" I nodded my head. "I'll pack up." I shook my head.

"That won't be necessary. You can teleport wherever you want, correct?" Zeke nodded his head. "Then that's what we'll do. Nobody will even notice we're gone."

"I'm still bringing a weapon just in case." I nodded my head. "I will protect you, Rome." I nodded my head. For some reason Zeke has taken it upon himself to look after me and of course his mate.

"Well, then let's go." Zeke grabbed both my hands and closed his eyes. Everything shifted and we were standing outside a house that looked to be falling apart. "Is this the right place?" I ask him.

"Yes," Zeke answers. The house is in the middle of nowhere. Trees surround the house and weeds are growing out of control. Zeke knocks on the door. We wait for a couple minutes. The door opens and a man glares at us. I start to feel uneasy. Maybe we should've told someone else about this.

"I'm not cursing any more people." He said, getting ready to shut the door. Zeke put his foot in the door, stopping it from shutting.

"We're not here for that. We have some questions." I spoke up. I walked in front of Zeke. The man's eyes widened. He quickly shook his head.

"I can't help you."

"I believe you can." I said, gently. If I wanted answers I'd have to be gentle, but if he keeps this up I'll get angry. "Please," I pleaded.

He sighed and replied, "Come in." Zeke and I walked in and followed the man to the living room. "My name is Oliver and I am the one who cursed you. There's your information now go." I opened my mouth to say something but I quickly closed it not knowing what to say.

"Sir, we'd like to know more." Zeke spoke. Oliver sighed.

"What do you want to know?"

"Why'd you do it? Why'd you curse me?" I blurted out. Oliver narrowed his eyes at me.

"I was helping an old friend." Zeke shook his head. I furrowed my eyebrows. He must know something I don't.

"You and Dominic weren't friends. You owed him because he saved your life. He black-mailed you, didn't he?"

"Yes, he did." Oliver nodded his head. "He threatened to kill my family. I was desperate so I did what he said. He killed them anyway." Oliver's face held anger and sadness.

"I understand now why you did it." I spoke up. I would've done anything for my mom and sister. I still would. He was trying to save his family. I can't hold a grudge against him.

"Seriously, Rome," Zeke questioned. "He cursed you and you're not even mad."

"He did it to try and save his family. If I were in his place I'd do the same." Zeke shook his head, annoyed. I rolled my eyes. He was being childish.

"Do you have any more questions?" I nodded my head.

"Just one more." I said. "Do you know how to rid of the curse?"

"I cannot rid of the curse, but I can tell you what I foresee." I nodded my head for him to go on. "A dark war will break out and many people will die, but the war must happen for you to finally be free of the curse."

"T-thank you for answering our questions." Oliver nodded his head. "I wish the best for you." I said, standing up. Zeke still seemed to be annoyed with me.

After we left was when Zeke finally spoke to me. We were back in his bedroom.

"I guess Devon's plans will happen. We can't stop it." I nodded my head.

"Just try to live," I said. I couldn't lose my new friend. I have only known him for a short while, but I already care deeply for him.

"You too," he said. I nodded my head and left his room.

Nathaniel rushed up to me and frantically looked me up and down. He released a relieved sigh.

"You're okay," he muttered to himself.

"Of course I'm okay." Nathaniel looked angry all of a sudden. I backed up.

"Where were you? Do you realize how worried I was? I thought you got taken or something." My heart was racing. I wasn't scared of him, but his wolf wasn't as sweet as Nathaniel. It was clear his wolf had taken over.

"I met with Oliver. He's the witch who cursed me. I needed answers and I got them." I said. I was acting like he wasn't scaring me, but in all honesty he was. He punched the wall.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He growled out. I approached him slowly.

"I didn't think you'd let me go." I answered honestly.

"Damn right I wouldn't have let you go." He walked over to me. He still hadn't calmed down.

"It's not a big deal. I'm fine," I said. I touched his arm. He seemed to relax a little. I kissed him, which seemed to instantly relax him. His hands gripped my waist.

Somehow we made it to his room. We landed on the bed. And there in his room he took me.
