Rome was a normal girl who lived in a village, that was until she was cursed by a prophecy.

5. Chapter Five

Finally I'm back. Shade is going to pay for hurting Rome. I feel like if I weren't here to kill her we'd be friends. I walked out of the shack and walked back to the castle. The first person I saw was Zaphara. She was smirking. I glared at her.

"It looks like I won after all, Rome." I wanted to laugh. She doesn't realize Rome let me take over again. I can tell Rome is slowly beginning to accept the prophecy.

"I didn't realize we were playing a game." I said. She rolled her eyes.

"Don't play innocent. Everybody knows you like Shade." She smiled evilly. I wanted to wipe that smile off her face. I laughed sarcastically.

"I don't like anybody, Zaphara." I said, bitterness dripping from every word. She scoffed.

"I'm surprised he even saved you last night. If I were him I would've left you there to die." Her dark eyes flickered with fire. She thinks she's so amazing.

"If you were the one in pain I would've left you there to die also." I shot back. I will admit not one of my best comeback's. "I don't think anybody would want to help you." I quickly walked past her. This argument is over.

"At least he loves me." She shouted. I stopped dead in my tracks. I felt Rome's heart skip a beat. She still has her heart. It's only because she's half werewolf.

"Are you sure about that?" I shot back. I kept walking. She needs to know who the higher power here is. I walked to Rome's bedroom. I looked at my reflection in the mirror, although it wasn't me, it was Rome's face and body- I'm just trapped inside her body.

Thank you, Luna. I smiled.

No problem, Rome. I told her.

People don't realize that I was cursed just like Rome. They think Luna Lamia is an evil vampire spirit, but she's not. I was a normal girl who lived in a castle with my father. Rome and my old self are quite a bit alike. I lived a pretty normal life. My father wasn't the happiest person, but he tried to make me believe that he truly was. I miss him.

Do you think there's a way to break the curse? Rome asked me. I shook my head.

"I don't think there is, Rome." I said sadly. I wish this curse never existed. There was a knock on the door. I got up and opened it. Shade. I rolled my eyes. "What are you doing here?" I asked coldly.

"Why did you get in a fight with Zaphara?" Shade asked. I scoffed.

"It's none of your business, Shade." I said, shutting the door. I walked over to Rome's bed and sat down. The door opened. "What now?" He was really starting to piss me off.

"Why did you let the Luna Lamia take over again?" I let Rome take over for this. She was the one in love with Shade- not me. At least I don't think I am.

"I have to. It's the prophecy and you should know better than anyone that you can't ignore a prophecy." I said. Shade rolled his eyes.

"Why are you so stupid?" I felt my heart shatter. His words hurt. He shook his head. "You can't keep letting her take over. She's going to kill someone." I got up.

"I don't have a decision, Shade. I have to live with this curse. And last time I checked I never wanted to be a vampire/werewolf freak. I never wanted this. Oh, and another thing you can't keep telling me what to do, we're not together. I shouted, frustrated. I've never lost my cool. I've always understood, but Shade has taken it too far.

"You're right we're not together, but that doesn't mean I can't look out for you." He said. I shook my head. The last thing I need is someone looking after me.

"Stop looking out for me, Shade. I can handle myself. I don't need or want your help." I don't know where all this confidence is coming from. I guess I have learned a few things from Luna.

"Somebody has to, Rome." I shook my head. His red eyes looked sad.

"No, Shade they don't." I said. I don't need anybody looking out for me, I'm perfectly capable of handling things on my own. He clenched his fists.

"Damn it, Rome you're impossible." He said, walking closer to me. "I want to look out for you. Please let me." His lips brushed mine. It caused my heart to speed up. He closed the distance between us. He wrapped his arms around my waist, bringing me closer to him.

We both fell on the bed. He brought his lips back to mine. I wanted this kiss to last forever. Mostly because I knew it wouldn't happen again. He started to kiss my neck. I moaned. He moved lower, kissing my collarbone. He moved back to my neck, where he had bit me when I was first turned into a vampire. He flicked his tongue over the mark. He moved to the crook of my neck and bit. I gasped. It didn't hurt- not one bit. He got off me and walked across the room. I got up, fixing my shirt. I was still dazed about what happened.

"That shouldn't have happened." He said. I furrowed my eyebrows. That hurt. "I don't know what came over me." Shade shook his head.

I walked over to the mirror and saw the mark. He marked me. He's a vampire, how did he mark me?

"D-Did you mark me?" I asked. He looked at the floor and nodded his head. Why would he do that? "The only species who can mark their mates are were-" I stopped. He was looking at me. "Are you a werewolf?" I asked. He could he a hybrid like me.

"No, vampires can mark their match too." I nodded my head realizing that there's still things I have to learn about my world.

"Why would you mark me if you don't even love me?" I asked. He ran his fingers through his black hair.

"What makes you think I don't love you?" And with that he left my room. He didn't answer my question! Why did he mark me? As long as Luna is taking over my body I shouldn't be in as much pain.

When you are marked you have to be around your mate. Your hormones go crazy. It's torture because you'll be in pain until your mate 'pleases' you. It doesn't last very long, so it shouldn't be that bad.

I walked over to my closet and put on a jacket. I can't let anybody see the mark. I wish he hadn't of marked me. I'll be in even more pain when I see him with Zaphara. I doubt he'll end things with her.

I let Luna take over.

"Well, that was a shocker." I said. "It was like watching a dramatic play." I laughed. It's good to be in charge again. "There's going to be so much more drama around here. I want wait!" I could tell that Rome had rolled her eyes.

I walked out of Rome's room to see Shade and Zaphara making out. I could tell that Rome was hurt. I don't know why she loves this guy. He hurts her day in and day out. They hadn't noticed me yet.

Please just walk away. Rome said. I felt disappointed that I wouldn't be able to hurt them. I walked off like Rome told me to. She was hurt and if I was going to pull this off I need to make her believe that I'm trustworthy.

I walked out of the castle. I walked into the forest. While Rome was sad, I was pissed. How could he do that to her? Rome's a nice girl. And we both don't deserve this curse. I sat down on the ground.

It was hot so I took off the jacket. I knew that the mark was visible and that Rome wouldn't like that, but I didn't care.

"Rome you are getting off track with what's important here. I'm sorry to say this, but Shade is playing you. You-We need to get back on track here." I told her.

You're right. I'm sorry, Luna. I nodded my head as to say 'you're forgiven'.

I wasn't feeling better. If anything I was feeling worse. Anger was brewing up inside me. Sure I have a lot of anger, but this time it was worse.

I shook my head. I can't just kill people for no reason. But maybe it'd help from actually killing one of my own kind (Shade). I ran out of the forest. I have to do this quick, which shouldn't be a problem.

I ran past numerous people, biting them. They didn't know what hit them. I dragged a bunch of thrashing bodies back to the forest. I have to drink their blood before they turn. They were bleeding. Blood covered my hands. I crouched down. I took a man's wrist and started sucking. His blood wasn't the best, but blood is blood.

I drank the other people's blood. I got up. I got some wood and sat a fire, burning the bodies. I watched as they burned. Rome was having a hard time watching. As for me I took joy in seeing them burn to their death. Sick, I know. I can't help it.

Once the bodies stopped burning I headed back to the castle. I felt refreshed. Blood still covered my hands, but it'd wash off. At least now I won't kill Shade or Zaphara. Actually I probably will still have the desire to do so, but I won't act on it.

I walked to the lake that was on the castle's east side. I crouched down and washed my hands. I looked at my reflection. I don't even know who I am anymore. I got up and walked to the castle. The castle was a grey charcoal color. It had red lighting to make the castle look spookier. We wouldn't want anybody to approach the castle.

I walked inside. The castle hardly had any light colors. I think Raven's room has white curtains, but that's about it. Most of the castle consists of reds, blacks, greys, and a little white here and there.

"Where were you?" Pandora asked me. I shrugged my shoulders. It's really none of her business even if her and Rome are best friends. But she's always been a curious one.

"I just went out to feed. I wanted to be left alone for a while." I told her. She nodded her head. Her eyes widened. What now?

"What's that?" She asked. It sounded like she was ready to bounce off the walls. She always got excited, which is something I suppose we need around here.

"What's what?" I said, even if I did know what she was talking about. She grabbed my hand and made me stand in front of the mirror. She pointed to the mark that was on Rome's neck. I gulped. I had forgotten to hide it.

"It must be a bruise from when I cut Rome." I lied. I know for sure that Rome doesn't want anybody to know about it. Pandora glared at me. I'm pretty sure she doesn't believe me.

"That is not a bruise. Somebody marked you- I mean Rome." Sometimes I hate that she's so smart. She inhaled through her nose. "And it smells like my brother." A smile broke out onto her face. "My brother marked you! I'm so happy that he's finally accepted it!" I felt Rome's heart ache. Even mine was aching. I let Rome take over so she could explain better.

"He got carried away, Pandora. He doesn't love me. He loves Zaphara." I grabbed her hand and walked to the living room. There Shade and Zaphara sat cuddling on the couch. I walked away before I saw something I didn't want to see. Pandora followed me.

"Why would he mark you if he doesn't love you?" She questioned. I shrugged my shoulders. I wish I knew why he's made it his mission to hurt me. "You know I have the ability to sense other people's feelings." I nodded my head. Sometimes I wish she couldn't. "He's hurt you."

"I'm pretty sure that obvious." I laughed sarcastically. Pandora faintly smiled at me.

"I know somebody who isn't afraid of telling you how they really feel. Follow me, Rome." I gave her a confused look. I quickly learned to never question Pandora. She's crazy, but you have to love her. Still...Who is she taking me to?
