Rome was a normal girl who lived in a village, that was until she was cursed by a prophecy.

15. Chapter Fifteen

The way the dark greeted me was not surprising. What did I expect? I'm dead there's all there is to it. I don't regret saving my sister. I wouldn't ever. I just hope she's okay.

I look around me and all I can see is pitch black darkness. I stand up. Am I stuck here? Will I spend the rest of enternity in this darkness?

"Rome," I hear a soft voice speak out my name. I look around, trying to see who called my name. I didn't see anybody. I'm going crazy now, aren't I?

I feel someone grab my arm. I tense up. All of a sudden there's a small light. Somebody had turned on a light bulb. I looked at the girl in front of me. She looked a lot like me that for a second I thought I was looking in a mirror.

"Hello, sister," she spoke after a couple minutes. Sister? I only had a younger sister, or so I thought. "I am, Luna."

"What?" I asked in confusion. She smiled warmly at me.

"I will explain everything. I now remember everything, for when you stepped in front of the blade for our sister it broke the curse." The curse is broken? All it took was for me to die?

"Then explain because I don't understand any of this." She nodded her head.

"Our mother got pregnant with twins, that would be us. It was dangerous to bring us into this world, but our mother wouldn't have it any other way. Devon made a deal with our mother that when we were born he'd take the one who was born a vampire. He took me. I lived a happy life. Devon didn't speak of you or our mother. In fact we hardly spoke at all, but I had people at the castle that cared about me, so I wasn't sad. One day when I was in Devon's office I found a letter, he was writing to someone by the name of....Dominic. That was the day I found out about the curse.

"I would become a figment of your mind. I wouldn't exist. I would become evil. I found out about you, Rome. I wanted to meet you right away, but that was the day the curse was set in place. I guess I got my wish in a way..."

"So....we're twins?" Luna nodded her head. "A-are we dead?"

"No, we'll be waking up in a few moments. You have to kill Devon, Rome. It's the only way to stop this." I nodded my head.

"I know," I sighed. "I just hope when we wake up no one will be dead." Luna nodded her head.

"Everything will work out in the end, believe that." I nodded my head. I wouldn't tell her that things weren't going to probably work out. She's just more optimistic than I am. I can't afford to think that way though. "We have to wake up now." I nodded my head.

I focused on waking up, which didn't take much effort.

I awakened to see a dark room. I got up even though I felt weak. I stumbled a little but quickly regained my balance. I looked around. Luna had yet to wake up. We don't have much time. I still don't know how we're alive, how I'm alive.

My hands touched something cold- bars. We're in a cell. I shook the cell door, but it didn't open much to my disappointment.

Where are the others? Are they down here in different cells, or are they fighting? They could be dead for all I know. I shook my head. I can't think like that.

"How do we get out of here?" I asked Luna. She was standing next to me. I was still trying to get used to seeing her. She studied the cell.

"It'll be difficult, but it's definitely possible." I nodded my head. "Give me your hands." I gave her a confused look. She sighed. "I was taught magic before the curse happened. Trust me," I stuck my hands out rather awkwardly and Luna grabbed them.

"We have to think positive thoughts for this to work. Can you do that?"

"Right...positive thoughts when my friends could be dead." Luna rolled her eyes.

"Just do it," she spoke with more force. I nodded my head. I closed my eyes. "Think of a happy memory if that helps, just don't think of anything bad."

"Ok," I agreed. I decided on a memory of my friends and I running through the forest. It seems like so long ago when this memory took place. It was hard not to think of all the bad things that have happened to me, but somehow I focused on happy memories.

My pack/clan had become my family. I hadn't ever known really what family was until they came along. They showed me a better way. They made me feel special despite having the curse. I'm free from it now.

There was a bright light and a smell of something burning. I opened my eyes to see the cell door completely gone.

"How'd you do that?" Luna just shrugged her shoulders.

"It was one of the hardest things I've done. Now let's go before it's too late." I followed her. "We're in Devon's castle." Luna knew every inch of this place it seemed. We reached the door that would lead us out of the dungeons and into what ever havoc was going on.

I searched for my sword, but it wasn't there. I cursed. Luna gave me a disapproving look. I ignored her. We walked up more stairs and opened another door when finally we saw the battle.

What I saw made my heart want to collapse. There was blood everywhere. My friends were in the worst shape. Devon had Pandora by the neck. It wasn't causing her any harm, but she was in pretty bad shape.

Luna and I both shared looks. Devon didn't know we were here. I grabbed a sword that had fallen out of Zeke's hand. He was healing faster than the others, but not fast enough. Luna held a dagger. She held it awkwardly as if she'd rather put it back on the floor. She wasn't used to this.

"Hello, Rome," Devon spoke. He turned around, dropping Pandora on the ground. She scooted away from him. His eyes widened when he saw Luna.

"Hello, father," Luna spoke. For a moment I swear I could've saw fear in Devon's eyes.

"No this can't be," he shook his head. Luna smirked.

"Oh, but it is," her voice sent shivers down my spine. She most likely hated him more than I did if that was even possible. "Your foolish plan to kill us didn't work. The curse is broken, which means we're immortal." My eyes widened. "We'll rule once you're dead."

"Don't be stupid, girl. I will win and I will take over Rome's spot." Luna shook her head.

"That was never in the deal, was it? You were so power hungry you looked over one small detail. To curse us you would need to sacrifice your soul, which some would argue you don't have. But I know better. The prophecy spoke of this moment and I think we all know it'll be you who dies here tonight."

Devon looked angry. "You can't kill me!" His eyes looked wild. He's mad.

"Rome it is time. You're the only one who can kill him." I stared at the sword it my hands. I can do this. "I know you can do it. Your friends know you can do it. Believe in yourself."

This is the moment I've been waiting for. The curse is broken, but as long as Devon lives Luna and I will never be truly free. Devon signed away his life when he decided to curse us.

Devon unsheathed his sword and charged at me. He's blind with rage, which will make it easier to defeat him. It won't be an easy task though. Before he could strike me I moved to the side. This fight went on for a while until I finally had him on the ground, Zeke's sword directed at Devon's head.

Devon looked at me with anger. He knew he was going to lose. Before I could kill him he somehow tripped me and got up. I quickly got up and picked up my sword. He's not going to give up easily.

Finally I got leverage and sliced through his neck. His head fell to the floor and his body collapsed to the ground.

It's over. Finally this is all over.
