Rome was a normal girl who lived in a village, that was until she was cursed by a prophecy.

11. Chapter Eleven

I find myself wishing that time would go faster. It's the day that I'll be meeting with Devon while Shade and Pandora look for useful information. It will be the first time I see him knowing that he's my father. It's weird and I still don't know how I feel about it.

Shade walks into my office, where I'm pacing back and forth. "Rome, it's time to go." I nod my head and follow him outside. Pandora is already outside waiting for us. Nathaniel is out here too. I tell him goodbye. He gives me a quick kiss and then walks back inside.

Luckily Devon's clan isn't far from here, so we'll be walking. We'll run for most of the trip. We run faster than humans. We'll get there in about two hours.

"You two know the plan?" I question for what seems like the millionth time. I just don't want this to go wrong. I need that information. It'll be valuable to breaking the curse; I can feel it. They nod their heads. "Do we need to run through it again?"

"No, we know what we must do." Pandora said. I nodded my head.

Even though I'm trying to think positively I can't help but feel like this won't go as planned. I know that it's a rather reckless idea, but I've had weeks to prepare. I just hope I've done enough and that Shade and Pandora don't get hurt in the process. They're more important than information Devon has.

We reach Devon's clan. Devon and his second and third in command are waiting outside. They greet us. I give Devon a fake smile like I usually do. Does he know that I figured out he's my father? I quickly dismiss the thought. I have to stay focused with the task at hand.

We walk inside. I requested to have this meeting with Devon privately. Shade and Pandora will have a somewhat easier time getting the files. Pandora's beloved is here also. He agreed to help. I see that he'd do anything for his beloved.

Devon and I walk to the meeting room. Before we go in I give Shade and Pandora the nod of approval to go and get the information. Devon shuts the door and I sit down. This meeting will be awkward and we'll most likely get in to and argument. Devon sits down across from me. He gives me a smirk. I just roll my eyes.

"Why did you want to have this meeting?" He asked. I look at the black wooden table. I have rehearsed this over and over again. I won't mess up now.

"I have a few questions about some...things." I say, vaguely. He nods his head.

"Ask away," he tells me. I nod my head.

"Why did you give me that time travelling device?" He smiled. I felt like rolling my eyes, but I resisted the urge.

"I figured you would want to know." He looked around the room. The room wasn't anything fancy. The walls were a dark red and the floor was carpeted in black. Pictures of the clan's ancestors hung up on the walls. "You needed to find out some information and I granted your wish." I narrow my eyes at him.

"How'd you know?" He shrugs his shoulders. I feel myself getting annoyed by his actions. I bite the inside of my cheek to stop from saying anything that would hurt my chances of getting actual information I need. I didn't need to know that Devon is my dad. It didn't get me any closer to breaking the curse. I thought about it for a second and realized I can't trust Devon. I didn't trust him before and I won't trust him now.

"I hear things, Rome." I glare at him. "Did you like the information you got?" A smug looked spread across his face. I wanted to reach over and strangle him. We've never gotten along and it doesn't seem like we ever will.

"I haven't decided yet." I answer. He nods his head. He picks up his chalice that had been brought in here moments ago. He sipped the blood. I had a chalice full of blood in front of me, but I didn't want to drink it. Luna didn't even want to drink it. Ever since she tasted Shade's blood she hasn't wanted anyone else's.

"Well, I'm sure you'll decide soon." Don't be too sure. I thought to myself.

Pandora's POV

The plan was set in motion. Alexander led us to Devon's office. He said that if there was any useful information it'd be in here. Shade is supposed to look for the information and I'm supposed to keep watch.

We walked into Devon's office. It wasn't that big. Not as big as Rome's. Of course he doesn't have all the books Rome does.

"If you need anything just mind-link me." Alexander said. I nodded my head. It was nice to see Alexander again, but I know that it's not really. He has his own life here. He doesn't need me. I shake my head. Stay focused, Pandora. I tell myself. Rome gave us orders and we must honor them. We'll succeed in this task.

Shade quickly looked through papers. There was a lot of them and we didn't have a lot of time. I paid close attention to everything going on outside the office. There really wasn't much. On occasion a vampire would walk by, but that's it.

"Shade you need to hurry up. We're almost out of time." I tell him, panicked. He just rolled his eyes. I huff in annoyance. We've been in here for about fifteen minutes. So far Shade has only found two papers that might be significant.

"We'll be fine, Pandora." It's my turn to roll my eyes. He can be so full of himself sometimes. Maybe he's right though. But I feel like this has been too easy.

"Doesn't it feel like this was too easy?" I say to Shade. He looks up from a paper he was reading. He looks thoughtful for a moment.

"Yeah, kind of, but I'm sure it's nothing." Right, I'm sure it's nothing. I think sarcastically. What if Devon saw this coming? What if he set this whole thing up? Rome would know wouldn't she? She's a seer so she would've seen it, right? I shake my head. I can't keep thinking this way. I have to trust Rome. I do trust her.

"I've got everything. This is all I've managed to find that could be significant." He held four pages in his hands. I nodded my head. I made sure that it was clear and we left Devon's office. Shade had hid the papers inside his jacket pocket. Hopefully nobody finds them. Why must I worry so much?

We stood by the meeting room's doors. We made sure to make it look like we'd been here the whole time. The doors opened and out walked Devon. My eyes widened when I saw Rome.

Rome's POV

This meeting has gone terrible. I'm about to lose my patience, when he says that the meeting is over. I feel like jumping up and down, but I don't. I have to remain serious. We stand up, but before we can leave Devon says something that makes me snap. 'Aren't you going to give your father a hug?'

I don't know why what he said made me snap, but it did. He had no right to say that. He wasn't my father. He might be the one who helped give me life, but he abounded me. Luna took over at this point. Her fangs pierced through his skin. I tried to calm her down, but I couldn't. This isn't good. This could ruin all of our planning.

When Luna finally calmed down, and I was able to take back control, we left the meeting room. I had no doubt I had blood on my face. I honestly couldn't care less though.

Devon actually looked afraid of me. I smirked in satisfaction. Serves him right for treating me like shit. I noticed Pandora's expression. I frowned. She looked absolutely surprised. Shade was smirking. I think he saw this coming sooner or later.

Some of Devon's clan members rushed to his aid. I rolled my eyes. I looked over at Shade and Pandora. Shade nodded his head. They had succeeded. I smiled.

Back at home I finished cleaning up. I left the bathroom and walked to my bedroom. Shade was sitting on my bed. He had four papers in his hand. I took them from him and read them. My eyes widened as I read them.

I don't know if this will help break the curse, but it defiantly gives me a better idea of what's going on. Apparently Devon has been talking to a anonymous person. They've been sending letters back and forth. From what I've gathered the guy isn't a vampire or werewolf. I don't know who or what he is, but I do know that Devon has the same idea that I do: we both want to take each other down.
