Hot Chocolate

Bella Roberts lives in Cornwall with her Dad, Jack, in a seaside town called St Ives. Jack is delighted when he hears the news of a job transfer to Bristol when he learns it will pay twice as much as his job in St Ives. Bella is not. She is forced to leave her friends and her peaceful life in St Ives for a new life in the bustling city of Bristol.

2. Saying Good-bye

Harry and I had always been friends ever since we could remember. Our parents joked about us running around the garden naked together. I'm 16 now and Harry's 17, we definitely do not run around naked any more. We'd always lived in St Ives together, we even had a favourite beach in Cornwall with a cave that we called 'our cave'. That's where I was then. Harry and I were sitting in our cave. It sheltered us from the wind but made a terrible howling noise as the gusts whistled through the doorway.

It was a cold but dry day and we were wrapped up warm. My long, brown hair was tied loosely in a bun and the little make-up I'd put on had been washed away by the salt spray. I looked from my pink wellies to my tatty old jeans, "I look a mess, don't I?".

"Nah, you look beautiful. You always do," said Harry.

I ignored the slightly over-friendly compliment. Anyway, he could talk, his hair was perfectly styled in a quiff as he sat there in his 'Hunters' and 'Abercrombie&Fitch' jacket. Let's just say he didn't have a hard upbringing.

"Bella," Harry said suddenly, "you know we've been friends for like, forever."

"Yeah," I replied absent-mindedly.

"Well, have you ever felt any other feelings for me?"

This stunned me, "Erm... well.." I tried to dodge from what he was actually asking, "Well, I felt hatred for you when you read my diary in year 5, but..."

"No, I meant..."

"I know what you meant, Harry," I interrupted and we sat in silence.

"You're going to hate me..." he said quickly. I knew what was going to happen next but before I could say anything he'd lunged at me, crushing his lips against mine.

He ran his fingers through my hair, undoing my bun. My hair fell to the small of my back and he grabbed it tightly as we kissed. All the memories flashed through my head of all the times we'd spent together as friends. I'd always seen Harry as a brother to me and now that I felt an attraction it confused me, I pulled away. Harry looked at me confused. What the heck I thought and I flung my arms around his neck, he pulled me onto his lap and we kissed again. Blissful, just the two of us in our own little world, we didn't hear the footsteps approaching our cave. Suddenly, my Dad was standing in the doorway.

"Erm..." he said awkwardly with a smirk on his face as we pulled apart. He chuckled but then his face dropped and he said gravely, "It's time to say good-bye."
