A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

15. Timetable

Alex's P.O.V

As I opened my eyes and realized I was not in my bed, I freaked out, but then sighed of relief for knowing where I was. I was actually home, this can be my home only for a year, but I can still call it home forever. Professor Dumbledore made sure I felt this way with his speech yesterday.

It feels so great to be here again, in this bed. We changed our dormitories, but we're still the same girls in the dorm. I still have Lara, Max and Clara by my side and in my same dorm. And it's amazing to know it.

Because I'm nearly sixteen, I'll be in the sixth year at Hogwarts, just like Max, Clara and all my other friends. We're gonna take our timetables today, and I hope I get to be in the same classes as the others, they told me yesterday that in the sixth year, classes change a lot, and so we may not be in any class this year. The thought horrifies me, but I have to accept it if it happened. After all I'm here to learn, not to make friends.

I finally yawned and decided to get out of this bed. I looked at the bed underneath me, and I found Clara still in bed, asleep. Max was still asleep too, I could see her from up here, laying at the same level as me, but on the other bed. Well, either they're late or I'm early, and I think the second choice's the right one. I don't sleep much after travelling, not always, so I probably woke up early today.

I look at the closet in front of me and see my robes there, on the hanger, neat and clean.

"Wake up everyone!" I yell. Lara swears, and Max doesn't make any kind of reaction, yes, that's how much she's awake. Lara however wakes up, I kinda like that about her, and it makes me a bit jealous sometimes. I mean, doesn't she ever gets the lazy day and wakes up really late and misses some of her classes, but she can't. Maybe it's also because she's a Ravenclaw and she cares about her classes so much, and besides, she sometimes wakes up to go and read or something. Anyways, I smiled at her and said good morning.

I then jumped off of the bed and went to the closet, and started wearing my robes.

"We have to see our timetable today and set it up." Clara was saying. I looked at Max, I wanted her to be awake too. "You don't need to wake them, it's too early, and it's the first day of school." I nodded and followed Clara to the common room. "This year's different from the last." She started explaining. "Last year we took some exams called OWLs, Ordinary Wizarding Levels. If you got good marks in the OWL's exams you can take the subject this year. We have to decide the OWLs we want, and it depends on the career we want to make, in the future. So our timetables this year will be different, according to the OWLs we want and got. Got it?" I kinda did, not perfectly, but I kinda did. So I nodded.

"But it's kinda complicated." I admitted.

"I know. Come on, we should go and talk to professor Flitwick, he can help us with organizing our timetables."

I didn't know where professor Flitwick's office was, so I allowed myself to be lead by Clara. Once we reached his office, she knocked the door and stood there politely.

"Oh welcome ladies." Professor Flitwick greeted as he opened the door. I get a really devilish thought, did he get shorter? I didn't show anything on my face expressions and entered his office with Clara. I let her start before I do, after all she knew what she was doing and I did not.

"Professor Flitwick," She started. "I was wondering if you could help me with my classes timetable, I really don't know what are the classes that I need, but I got some good amount of owls last year, and I hope it won't be hard."

"Well, where do you want to work and what do you want your job to be?" He asked.

"I want to be a mediwitch and I want to work at St. Mungo's Hospital."

"I've never heard of this hospital." I said.

"It's because you're a - was a muggle, and it's only for Magical Maladies and Injuries, it only heals wizards and witches, and muggles don't know about its existence, just like Hogwarts." Clara said, and then turned to professor Flitwick again. "So?"

"You'll need to have OWLs in each of the following; Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Herbology, Potions and Ancient Runes. And it'd be really great if you also took Alchemi too." Clara nodded.

"It's great actually, I got OWLs in all of these, in fact I got more OWLs than just these, but I won't be needing them, will I?"

"No, not for your job. If you want, however, to take the classes because you like them or feel that they're important, you can take them." Clara nodded, thanked the professor and then stepped aside, to let me have my turn now. I smiled weakly.

"Well, I definitely will be needing your help, professor. I - as you know I know almost nothing about the wizarding jobs and about managing my classes and-"

"It's okay. It's really normal, and expected. Now I should ask you, miss Cross. Do you want to work in the wizarding world or in the muggles world?"

"I don't know .. I'm - not sure." I was really confused. I couldn't take such a decision, at this time. Now here, not now. It felt too soon. But then again, Clara's just as old I am and she's decided where she want to work, and all of this was really easy for her. But she's been a witch forever, not like me.

"You will be taking almost all of the classes, because you'll only be here for a year. You don't have to decide now to whether you want to work at the wizarding world or at the muggles' one. Tell me when you decide, and I'll probably give you some extra classes with them."

So at last, I nodded.

"Thank you professor." I said. And left.
