A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

4. The Wedding Party

Kyle's P.O.V

"You've gotta be kidding me!" I said as Alex told me about the letter she received from the ministry of magic.

"No, I'm serious, I swear."

"But that's amazing!" I said.

"Yeah! And I'm so excited!" Alex said. I decided that I didn't want to know all about the letter in a phone call, so I was now at Alex's place. At the living room to be precise.

"But it ain't gonna be so cool for me." I said realizing it.

"I know, I'm sorry." She said sitting down.

"And I'm not even going to the wedding with you! There'll be cake!" I said. Alex laughed.

"I think you'll be lonely for a while Kyle." She said tapping my shoulder. "Meh, you'll be better without me."

"Maybe." I said honestly. But maybe not

-Next Thursday.

Alex's P.O.V

"Mum how do I look?" I asked. Mum and I have kinda made up, without even talking about anything. Both of us decided not to talk about the problem and forget about it.

"Amazing." Mum said. I was wearing a short black dress that had a golden bow as a belt. I wore a long golden necklace with it, braided my hair and wore golden high heels. I looked at myself in the mirror and I liked what I saw. Wearing a dress reminded me of the ball's day. How Clara helped us all with our hair and makeup and how brilliant her work was. Mum was wearing a long, dark green dress. I liked it.

"Ready?" Mum asked.

It took us more than I expected to reach the wedding. The place was really awesome. The music was loud, the kind of music that you can't listen to without stopping yourself from dancing, but I didn't know this song. Nearly all of the people who were invited were wizards and witches; it seems that everyone's abandoned my uncle just like mum did. So I guess mum and I were the only muggles there; or actually, just mum.

Many people were dancing, but even that I really felt like dancing, I didn't dance. I've just joined the wedding party and dancing right now wasn't cool. Mum and I sat on a circular table, and I started looking around me, trying to find anyone I could recognize. At last I lost hope, and I got really bored I knew no one here. At last I could see the bride and groom, they decided to sit down for a bit, and relax their exhausted feet. Mum went to congratulate them, and I followed her, not saying everything all the time. At last when we reached them, uncle Ted's expression changed, especially when he saw my mother.

"You thought I won't come? Didn't you?" I could hear mum over the loud music.

"Yeah, well - you've always been a woman with surprises." I wasn't sure if he looked happy or not, by seeing her. But the bride differently wasn't.

"I came to say I'm sorry, to both of you - I really am. Sorry that I didn't believe you and sorry for abandoning you, sorry for everything - I hope you understand." Mum said. It was really strange to see mum apologize to someone and mean it this much. She probably was really feeling so bad. Uncle Ted and his bride both started nodding, then mum hugged each of them and started congratulating them. I looked to my right and realized why the music was that loud, the instruments weren't played in a normal way, no one was playing them, they were enchanted. I looked again at my uncle and decided to congratulate them too.

"Hi." I said lamely. "I'm Alex - your - her daughter." Lame. Really, really lame.

"So you're the famous Alex Cross. And you're my niece!" Uncle Ted said.

"You - you know me?" I asked. I didn't expect mum to tell him about me.

"Yeah, well everyone from the wizarding world does."  Andromeda, the bride said. "Nice to meet you." She said shaking my hand. I was smiling goofily, being famous was kinda cool. Suddenly I felt all great for picking something good to wear, instead of choosing anything randomly. When I turned to Uncle Ted, he didn't shake my hand, he gave me a great hug that I really didn't expect. I reminded me of my father, how he used to hug me like this.

As I walked back to the table I was sat in, I heard someone whispering.

"Psst, Ally." It was a familiar voice. A very familiar and warm voice that I've missed so much. I wasn't really expecting to hear this voice for a long time. But now I could hear it, and it was real. The way that he could say my name and make it sound a billion times more special.
