A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

42. The Way Out

After a long while's thinking I decided what I want to do with those tools. I took the bicycle's wheel and started taking off one of the bars that on it. It was really hard, even that the bar wasn't really thick, it was stuck in its place. I finally put the wheel on the ground and stood on it, pulling the one of the bars very hard. It was hard, but I finally succeeded in taking one of them off.

The next process wasn't supposed to take such a long time. I put the bar in the knife's sharpener until it got really thin. I wasn't sure what to do with the lighter, so I left it untouched. I went to the door next. I had a sharpened bar in my hand, and I wanted to use it as a key. It's quite easy when it's in the right shape and size, but this bar wasn't really in a good size, it kinda felt too small, and even that it was sharpened, it was kinda hard to control it in the keyhole. The door didn't have a knob - surely, so I had to move the bar to the right and then either upwards or downwards. I tried both ways, and after lots of trials, I got the door opened.

I got the door opened!

Breathing out was the first thing I did. Then I heard people around me, applauding for me, and I immediately smiled.

"You did it!" Jasmine came to me running.

"I did!" She got into my arms. "You did it too?"

"Umm, partly." Jasmine said. 'I'm not sure about it, I'll go talk to the principle soon. Anyway, I think that means you're now officially one of the lucky twelve."

"I can't believe it." I almost whispered. And I couldn't. It was a hard test, needed lots of thinking, and I've never believed I was a smart guy. "Well, come on now, let's go to the principle's and know what he'll do about you."

"It's okay, I'll go there alone. It'll be easier." I nodded, unconvinced. I felt like she was lying to me. She doesn't trust me, probably.

"Alright .. Alright you - you'll be in the lucky twelve list." The principle said at last.

"No matter what?"

"N-no matter what. But it'll be the last time for me to do such thing. It's such a serious thing, miss Martin, you should know that."

"Oh I know that."

"Jasmine, just to be clear, that means you should be able to make it to the top ten alone, without my assistance because I won't be available again. I simply can't help you." He paused. "You know what the whole point of these tests is?" I shook my head. "We're making sure -well us and the people from Hogwarts- that you will all be qualified to go there, this time the trip won't be as easy as it was last time."

"I - I can do it." There was a moment of silence and then the principle spoke.

"You can leave now." I nodded and went out, closing the door behind me gently. Smiling for my victory. Not everyone can get what they want, but I'm not anyone. I'm Jasmine Martin, and I do get what I want.

I started looking for Kyle, who was nowhere to be seen. Then I remembered him saying something about going to the art class after the test, so that's where I went next. Wherever Kyle is, there I also should be.

I had my first teaching class today. I was so nervous, and I didn't really have much of a time, because I had the class after the Quidditch train. Our Quidditch team's been doing really well, sometimes we're all too exhausted and we act so badly, but other times, we're really good. Professor Dumbledore said that during the triwizard tournament Quidditch gets canceled, and so all the matches gets canceled, but this year won't be like the others, we will be allowed to have only three matches. Since I had the class after the Quidditch's train, I didn't have much time to revise what I had to say in the class. I wanted to talk about lights, and electricity, since that's what got me to start the teaching thing.

I don't want to talk a lot today, just want to say some basic things about it, and get to know the students I'll be teaching. It feels weird, really. Sounds like Sirius isn't going to be the only teacher this year, I will too.

As we finished training I ran to the chamber professor Dumbledore instructed me to go to, it was near the one Sirius and I study Magic Basics in. I waited for the students for a while, and then I noticed I was there early. No one was there yet, and I was starting to get a bit nervous, what if no one comes? Then it suddenly happened. Many, many students started coming to me, asking if this was the right classroom for the Muggles Studies taught by me.

"I'm taking Muggles Studies this year."

"Sirius!" I said hugging him. Sirius's presence will probably make things easier for me. Not only Sirius was there, but all of my friends as well. As the classroom got filled, I started talking.

"That's it? Only you guys are joining this class?" I asked joking. "Wow, well, I wasn't expecting audience as huge as this, thank you guys. Umm, I'm not sure how to start this. Well, I just want you all to know before starting that I want you to know that I'm here standing here, not as someone bragging for her knowledge, but as a part-muggle. Being half a muggle means that I do know so much about muggles, and that's what's gonna make things easier for me. I'm sure about the information I'll be giving you, because it's just like telling you stuff about myself and my everyday life.

"Now I'll tell you all about stuff you may not know about, such as; electricity, cars, computers, televisions, and many other stuff. It will be fun to learn about these stuff, and if professor Dumbledore allowed me to, I'll show them to you probably by the end of the year or something." That got everyone to start talking excitedly. "Okay, so.. I just want to say this, whoever likes this idea will be welcomed to me class, and whoever doesn't like it, well you won't be really pushed to join it, professor Quirrell still teaches his own class. I want you to be here to learn in an amusing way, to have fun, really, and to learn what is hundred percent correct." I paused swallowing, then I saw Sirius and I smiled, forgetting for a second that I had a responsibility now. And I changed my plans, no electricity talking for today. "Now just because this is our first class, I want to get to know your names in a game we used to play in my muggles' school."
