A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

35. The Second Test

I didn't want to ask Kyle immediately about what happened yesterday. I don't know what's the freaking problem with that Ruby, but I'm pretty sure she won't be helping me with what I want. I just hate her already, cause I know whose side she's in. I tried to ignore the whole situation and acted normally that day. Well, not really normally, I wanted to show Kyle how bothered I was, but I also wanted to show him that I was trying to hide it. Maybe he likes the mysterious girls more than the open books.

As the next day came, I tried to keep my acting going, and I showed him, maybe a bit more, that I was kinda upset.

"Are you okay?" He asked. "You've been acting funny after Ruby's announcement yesterday. Does it upset you?"

"It's nothing." I lied. Kyle gave me a yeah-right look and so I asked. "What?" And then was my chance. "Alright. I'm bothered. But not by the news, it's just that- I don't know, you kinda changed after you went to your conversation with Ruby yesterday. And it made me feel a bit sad."

Kyle rubbed the back of his neck and looked down.

"You want to know the truth or not?" He asked.

"The truth." He breathed.

"Some people think that we should change the way our relationship is." He paused. I raised my eyebrows.

"And what do you think?" I asked.

"I think that there's nothing wrong with our relationship. They want me to hate you and I don't hate you. I like you." Like you. Well, that's a start. Even that he meant it as a friend, it was a start. I smiled.

"Really?" I asked.

"Sure. I mean, don't you like me?"

"You sure mean as a friend right?" He nodded. "Yeah I sure like you! As a ... friend, yeah." and I faked a smile. That was actually good! I thought admiring myself.

Kyle hugged me and I couldn't stop myself from smiling.

Jasmine and I were going to the place where the Hogwarts' tests were held. Which was the school's gym. As we reached the place we saw Mr Stewart, the tall and huge PE teacher who looked more like a security guard by the door. Holding a piece of paper and a pen in his hands.

"Kyle, and Jasmine." He said as we passed by him. The doors were closed. "I have to check for your names first." And he looked at the paper in his hands and put a little check next to both my and Jasmine's names "You can get in."

The place looked a bit scary. Teachers were filling it. Just like the previous time, I was nervous, and maybe even more nervous than the previous time. Maybe it was because of all these teachers. I looked around me and started thinking; last time we were supposed to answer some questions, about Hogwarts mostly, and some intelligence questions. This time, I wasn't sure what to expect, waiting for me. Jasmine and I both looked at each other, and I could tell that she was as nervous as me.

I found two of our teachers whispering and looking at us. After they did so, they came to our way. The man was called Mr. Brooks and the woman; Miss Holly. Miss Holly's never taught me, but Mr. Brooks have.

"Hi Kyle." She said surprisingly.

"Oh hello Miss Holly. Mr. Brooks." I said politely. Next to me, Jasmine shook their hands, so I did that too.

"So this test won't be like the previous one, alright?" Mr Brooks said. "Jasmine, dear, would you mind coming with me?" Jasmine shook her head and walked with Mr Brooks, wishing me luck.

"Now, we two will sit there." Miss Holly said pointing at two seats. I nodded and went there. "Are you nervous?" She asked.

"Yeah." I answered honestly.

"Well don't be. It's just an interview." She smiled. Her smile was so kind that it kinda made things easier for me.

"Now I'll ask you about ten to twenty questions, depending on your answers, and I want you to answer them honestly. To guarantee that, I'll have to ask you to wear this." She gave me a small object that was square shaped but had a cylindrical space inside it. "Put your finger in it, and it'll tell me if you're saying the truth or not." I put my finger in it, she paused for a minute and then said. "It's not out of mistrust, it's just the rules." So I nodded.

"Question number one; do you have any plans for the future? And if yes, what are they?"

I had to think really hard about that. Plans about the future? Maybe not much.

"I follow a theory that says, don't worry about the future, and don't plan for it. Planning makes things much more boring. So specifically, no, I don't have much plans, I just want to have a decent job, a lovely home, and when the right time comes, a woman by my side." A witch by my side.

"Question number five; what would you do to get what you want?" Mr Brooks asked.

"Anything." I answered a little too fast. This question reminded me of Kyle, I instantly smiled.

"Even if it meant disloyalty to your masters?"

"My masters? What am I, a slave?" I said bothered.

"Answer the question."

I rolled my eyes. "Maybe. I don't know, it depends on the situation and on the "Master"." I said.

"Question number six; Who is your role model?"

That was one of the questions that took a while for me to answer.

"My sister." I finally said.

"Question number twenty; If, let's say our school principle and another school's had a fight, will you help us win the fight, or will you help the other school?"

"Of course I'll help my school. If my school's right, then I'm right. If my school wins, I win."

"Alright. Thank you very much Jasmine. You can leave now." I shook Mr. Brooks's hands once again and started looking for Kyle. I found him waiting for me by the gym's doors.

"You've finished interviewing before I did?" I asked.

"Yeah they only asked me twelve questions. I hope it wasn't because my answers were so bad." He said biting the inside of his cheeks."

"Really? They asked me twenty!"

"What was your last question?" And I answered him. "I got that question too. I said I'll help whoever's right. Even if it weren't my school. But after saying this again, I really think that wasn't the most amazing answer for me to give. Anyway," He said. "What was your answer?"

"I said I'd help my school." I said. Maybe his answer was better than mine. I can't really tell if we were supposed to give them my answer and show them how loyal we are to our school, or if we were supposed to give them Kyle's answer, and show them that if they were doing something wrong, we shouldn't follow it.
