A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

26. The Quidditch Tryouts

Max's P.O.V

"Hey there lovebirds." I said leaning to face Sirius and Alex who were laying on the ground. They laughed, and Alex gave me her hand so that I'd help her get up. "What happened?" I asked.

"Nothing major. I just rode my broomstick and flew." She said halfway to standing. I left her hand and she fell on her bum. "Ouch. Max!" I laughed and helped her up again.

"Oh my god! Oh my god! Alex you're a witch!"

"Oh really? Thanks for the info, I missed that." She said sticking out her tongue. Sirius stood up by himself.

"Oh my god I'm so happy for you." I said hugging her.

"So what brings you here?" Sirius asked.

"Quidditch tryouts." I said.

"You want to play in the team?"

"Well, I hope."

"Can I too? I mean, I know that it's really nearly impossible but - don't I have a little chance?" Alex said a little weakly.

"Yeah, sure you'd have a chance. You can work hard!"  I said.

"Remember when we played together last year? You were a good seeker." Sirius said.

"You think?" She asked, uncertain. Sirius and I both nodded.

Many people were here to join our Quidditch team. Some of them played disastrously, which kind of relieved me, to be honest. I really wanted to be accepted in the team, and if they played really good, that'd make my chance harder.

"Max Rosiel." The team's captain called. I instantly went to the tryouts place.

"Hi." I said lamely.

"Hello. So Max what would you like to show us?"

"Um, my abilities of chasing and keeping. I'm not sure what I'm better at. Can I try them both?" I asked hopefully

"Well, there aren't many people left, so we still have some time."

I took my broomstick and started with the keeping part. A boy from my house started throwing the Quaffles at me - well, at the goalposts but I really felt like he was meaning to knock me off my broomstick, God!. The first one I missed the first one, but he missed the other four. Yeah, I guess I was a good keeper, but I wasn't sure if I had to block the five Quaffles.

I then tried chasing. Other three were playing with me, one supposedly in my team and two in the other team. I scored one goal and then my time was up. I wasn't sure about the results, we don't know them today, we'll still have to wait.

I wanted to wait for Alex. Her turn was after me, and I wanted to be there with her.

Alex's P.O.V

"Umm, I want to try seeking." I said. After the captain gave me the thumbs up and let go of the golden snitch I flew in the sky and started looking for it. Apparently, seeking was such a hard thing. I kind of regretted thinking that I may me a good seeker, and that I may join the team. It's just that, I'm new to all of these things, and I'm not as advanced as other people, so how the hell will I be able to know where this freaking Snitch is. I was flying in all of the directions and I was looking for it everywhere. I almost gave up, until I found it near the goalposts, as if was a bird looking at me. But it was so far from where I was! I flew like a bullet -which was scary- I haven't known I could fly in this speed. My balance was okay, but it wasn't as good as it was this morning, but I didn't care, I had to catch it. It tried to fly away, but I was faster than it. I finally landed, smiling. The snitch in my hand. I did it. I caught it! I looked at the captain and the ones helping him, and then at Max and I found them all mouth-opened.

"What?!" I asked barely able to breathe.

"How did you do that?" Max asked.

"you're speed!" I didn't really know what to answer.

"It was normal, for flying." No one said anything else. Max just shook her head.

"The - the results will be put in the common room, next Tuesday." I nodded. Maybe I did a good job after all. Or didn't I?

I walked with Max out of the Pitch.

"That was really good, you know?!"

"Really?" Max nodded. "Well, you were good too." I said honestly.

"Thanks." She smiled.

"Um Max, I want to go and ask professor Flitwick about something at Dinner time, would you come with me?"

"Yeah, sure." She said. I hugged her and went to my Muggle Studies class.
