A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

73. Regulus

Sirius and I decided that we should talk after lunch. I went to my classes before that, and I got the same respond that I got from my house mates from the people I met in my classes. It was exhausting.

At lunchtime, I avoided Sirius as much as I could, hoping it would make things less awkward. While eating, I looked at the Slytherin's table, and I saw Regulus there, and when he caught me looking at him, he actually smiled. I smiled back, and realized I should go and thank him for what he did to me at court.

I finished my meal very fast and went to his table.

"Hey." I said awkwardly.

"Hello Alex. Do you need anything?"

"Actually, I need to talk to you."

"Then we'll talk privately." He said. Okay.. I think it would make things a bit more awkward but I can deal with that.

I followed Regulus out of the Great Hall and he took me to the place he sits in with his friends.

"My favorite place in the castle." He said as we reached it. It wasn't that special, but it was nice in a way, I have o admit. I don't remember ever coming here before. Regulus looked at me questioningly.

"Yeah." I said remembering why I'm here. "So I just wanted to thank you for what you did to me. You know, the whole sending-the-house-elf thing."

"Oh. You shouldn't be thanking me, I did what I was supposed to be doing."

"Really? Because less than a month a go, you said I'm never gonna be a Black and - well it was obvious that you hated me."

"I've never hated you." I raised my eyebrows. Like, really? Are you kidding me Regulus? I was actually confused. He opened his mouth to say something but decided not to.

"Well then - thank you anyway. What you did was very noble. I never thought you'd do such thing."

"Yeah, well, never did I. And maybe you should think better of me."

I looked into his eyes then. I don't know if it was the effect of the candles light or if he really was sad. I think Regulus was sad, and I didn't want him to be so.

"Can I ask you something that may sound a bit stupid or funny?" He nodded. "Can I... hug you?"

His lips curved in a smile and he nodded again.

And I hugged him.

His hug felt nothing like Sirius's hugs. While Sirius's hugs make me feel all warm and protected, Regulus's made me feel steady and proud. This hug was supposed to make him feel better, but actually, it made me feel good as well.

I guess I need a Black's hug.

And right before I released him he gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"So?" Alex asked. I took her to outside, and she suggested we sit by the lake. It was a lovely place there, I could see why she suggested it.

"So.." I started. "Look, you should know that I didn't do what I did purposely. I know you know that, but you should believe that when a person is put under an imperious curse he doesn't really-"

"Sirius. I know you didn't do it, I know you would never have done it yourself. It was an imperius curse and I totally understand-"

"I wanted to resist it but I couldn't it's just too hard and – well, it's a good thing Kreacher came and told the truth."

"How did he come anyway? I’m pretty sure I heard the answer to that, but with the pressure I was under in the courtroom I could barely tell what was happening, yet alone what people were saying.”

"Regulus ordered him to."

"Looks like he's changed his mind about me."

"Oh he's changed his mind about a lot of things." Because he's changed his mind about Alex not being a Black. But maybe he was right, she never will be a Black. Not after our fight..

She laughed.

“Yeah, he’s changed his mind about a lot of things.” She echoed me.
