A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

63. Names' Inserting

I couldn't wait to see Alex the next day, I missed her, so once I opened my eyes and got dressed, I went to the place where they told me I'd find her in - the hospital wing. Why? I've got no idea, I guess I should just ask her.

So I went there, I found her laying in one of the beds. I like how Alex looks when she's sleeping. Every time we slept over I realized that. She looks innocent, and more natural. She doesn't change a thing about the way she looks after she wakes up, but she just seems more natural asleep. At first, I didn't want to wake her up and bother her, but as the healer came and told me it was okay to wake her up, I did.

"Ally, wake up." I whispered. "I'm here." She frowned, then slowly opened her eyes.

"Ky." She said. And as she opened her eyes widely she continued, "Oh my God, Kyle it's you! How - how did you get here?!" And I hugged her.

"I wanted it to be a surprise." I looked at her arm and found a fading scar there. "God. What happened to you?" I asked.

"Sirius and Regulus -his brother- they had a fight, and I was near them. Well, technically, I was the reason they were fighting and then - Regulus cast a spell on me and it caused my arm's flesh to kinda- split, and bleed. It bled so much yesterday, so Sirius carried me all the way to the hospital wing and Madam Pomfrey gave me some potion, but now it's all better, I barely feel anything wrong with it." Alex said. "But forget about me. How are you? I missed you!"

"I did too, school's been crazy without you. I met a new friend, but she's not as good as you."

"Honey, no one's as good as me. I'm way too original."

"Yeah, sure." I said sarcastically. We laughed.

"So, did anything important happen yesterday while I was "sleeping"?" She asked.

I told her about the Goblet of Fire and the Triwizard Tournament. My name will be put in the goblet of fire, so will all the other names of us who are the Lucky Ten from Cambridge. That's why they gave us many tests, to be prepared for the triwizard tournament. To be ready for anything.

"Wow." She said as I finished. "I wonder who'd be picked from our school."

"You mean Cambridge or Hogwarts?" I asked.

"Our school, Cambridge still is kinda my school you know."

"I wonder." I said. We were silent for a while until she said,

"I want to participate. I want to put my name in the goblet of fire."

"What? are you crazy? It's so dangerous. If it were for me, I honestly wouldn't have put my name." And after rethinking about it I said. "Or maybe I would. But that's me, not you. You're a girl-"

"What the hack Kyle?! Since when does it matter that I'm a girl? It's never mattered. And besides, let's face it; since when have I been a girl?" She said joking.

"Since your Twelveth  birthday." I murmured

"Shut up." She laughed and nudged me with her elbow.

After Kyle's visit to me, I decided I should no longer stay in bed. I went with him to the Great Hall, and there I found the Goblet of Fire. It was beautiful, really. A huge goblet that was filled with fire that glowed blue. I wondered about my decision, about Kyle's warning. How dangerous can it be? Then I rethought about it, no matter how hard it may be, I should be tougher. I can do it, or can I?

I took a step forward it. I can do it.

And besides, putting my name in the goblet of fire doesn't mean it'll chose me. There are millions here at Hogwarts who will also put their names in it and they may be better than me. But, if it did chose me somehow, I'll be ready.

I walked towards it and wrote my name in the smallest piece of parchment I could get and gently threw it in the goblet of fire. I did it. Everyone who saw me doing it applauded.

Not long after that, Max joined us, and I told her about what I did.

"Are you insane? It's such a dangerous thing to do!" She said.

"Well, dangerous or not, I want to try it. And besides, it's already happened now, I can't take my name out of the goblet, now can I?"

"Hell no." She answered. "Anyway, I'm inserting my name too, it's better to do it now than later."

"Then what was all the 'It's such a dangerous thing to do' about?"

"That was me wanting you to be safe." She stuck out her tongue.

"Awwhh I'm flattered." I blinked cutely. Max rolled her eyes and then inserted her name. Everyone else cheered and she joined us again.

"My friends are out of their minds!" Clara said. We were joined by the others. "Isn't it enough that Kyle has to put his name?!"

"Clara please don't be mad."

"I won't just- why would you even do it? Seriously, why?"

"I told you. I want to try everything I can before I leave. And Max sure wants the glory." I said teasing her.

"What? No! I want the adventure. Why would I care about the glory?" She crossed her arms.

"You do know how to piss her off." Clara said and she burst out laughing. We all joined her.

"I don't know about you guys, but I won't put my name." Remus said.

"Well, you should, Moony. It would be the smartest thing of you to do, especially if the tasks took time at night. You'd win as a werewolf in ten seconds."

"Yeah, imagine my pride."
