A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

103. Lies

Kyle and I were talking about Katy, we've been talking a lot about her lately. Just the two of us. Of course, we have told the other's about what she said about Voldemort, but still it was kinda between the two of us, at least it felt so. We haven't talked to the others more than once. We don't even want them to know we're still thinking about her, because sometimes it gets so insane and we end up wanting to kill her no matter how risky it would be. Apparently, we still haven't done it yet, but that's only one of the many ideas we came up with.

"Kyle.. you just probably don't know much about Voldemort." I said.

"I know how dangerous he is, Max. You don't need to remind me." We paused for a while.

"I just can't believe he was a student here at Hogwarts, he was a normal person. Like Katy. It gives me the chills."

"And she's only one of his followers. Imagine how many there are out there. They might all be at Hogwarts. We might see them everyday." Kyle said.

"I bet they're all Slytherins." I said making a face. I just hate them all. Kyle shushed me then too suddenly and I turned to find Remus behind me, coming towards us. He didn't really seem happy to find us. He's been acting weirdly every time he finds the two of us together.

He faked a smile and said, "Hey."

"Hey, buddy. Wanna sit?" Kyle said offering him his seat. "I think I should go to bed. Night Max." He said, patting my shoulder.

"Night." I turned to Remus then. "You alright?"

"I need to ask you something, because it's killing me." I raised both of my eyebrows.

"Go ahead."

"You and Kyle? What's it with the two of you? I mean, I know you're friends, but ever since the Ally thing you've been too friendly together."

"What, you want us to stop being friends?" I asked. I don't get it.

"Max, you know that's not what I meant." I rolled my eyes.

"No I don't. What did you mean?"

"I don't know, you've been spending so much time together, like just the two of you, even the two of us don't spend that much time alone, and you seem to talk about something with great interest, and whenever I come to sit with you, you change the subject. What do you talk about?"

"So are you jealous, or curious?"

"What? Geez Remus, we don't talk about secret stuff. We don't change the subject." I really hated lying to him, but I didn't want him to know, it'll only upset him.

"Look, I can tell when you're lying to me. And it's not just you, Kyle did too when I asked him about it, and now when I came, he simply decided to leave. Max, what is it?"

"Remus, it's nothing-"

"Then why won't you tell me?!" He said hrs temper rising.

"Because it's nothing!"

"God, Max! Forget it." And he stood up and walked away.

Next time I met up with Kyle we talked about it.

"Remus told me that he asked you about our talks. Why didn't you mention it?" I asked him.

"I forgot to, I wanted to tell you, though. So, did anything happen between the two of you yesterday? You didn't talk to each other on breakfast." I nodded.

"I lied to him." He looked puzzled, I sighed. "He asked me about what we talk. I told him it's nothing, same things we talk about when he's around."

"You know what, Max? Just tell him."

"He'll get mad!"

"He's more mad about you lying to him. Trust me. I would tell Clara if she asked, but she hasn't." I nodded.

Yeah, I'll talk to him.. Someday.

Sometime soon, hopefully.

I walked into the the Great Hall and found everyone excited about something.

"What's going on?" I asked Clara.

"The Yule Ball." She sang. "On Sunday."

"What? But it's Thursday. Shouldn't they have told us earlier?"

"I mean, it's the triwizard tournament and it's been three weeks since the last task. It's almost Christmas so it's obvious."

"Alright, alright. So I'm dumb now?" Clara laughed.

"Kinda." I pushed her slightly.

"I thought they'd cancel this year's since we already had a ball last year." Max said as joined us.

"And of course you were thrilled." I said smiling. Max hated dresses and dances.

"Um, no.. I mean, I was happy. I'll have fun with Remus. And of course with you guys too."

"Actually as you mention it, are you two okay? You didn't seem too friendly this morning."

"Yeah.. sure we are." She's hiding something. But I nodded anyway.
