A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

61. Guests

We left Alex in the hospital wing. Madam Pomfrey said that she'll need to get some sleep, and that waiting for her won't be very helpful, she won't need it.

I went with Clara to the common room, I had no other classes, but I had some homework. I started doing my homework and after I finished it it was almost dinnertime.

"Professor Flitwick told me to tell you all to come to the great hall. The guests are almost there, he said." Clara said. She looked away then.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Hm? Yeah, it's just that.. When I first imagined this moment, I thought that I'd get to see Kyle, but now that he's not coming, it's not that fun anymore, you know?"

"Oh." I said. I wasn't sure what to say.

"It's okay, it got easier by now." She paused. "But I still miss him." And she smiled. I hugged her, because it was all I could do. Sometimes hugging can be all you can do, and it might be helpful. Hopefully.

I put my books and stuff in my dorm and then went to the great hall with Clara and Lara. We sat there and talked for a while, then professor Dumbledore finally stood and started talking;

"Our guests have arrived, they're crossing the river. Now, I know I don't need to remind you, for you are all quite great people, I know, but I must. These are our guests, and they're here this time for the triwizard tournament, some of them have already been to Hogwarts while the others hadn't. It is your mission to befriend them, or at least make them feel welcomed. Remember that the point of the triwizard tournament is world's cooperation and establishing ties between young witches and wizards of different nationalities." He didn't seem to want to say anything more, and he didn't. He just stood there for a while and then spoke again, "You can go outside and watch their arrivals, it's quite amazing." He smiled.

I stood up and took Clara's hand, Clara took Lara's and so we all went to the second floor were the windows were wide open. We looked at the lake. They arrive in a ship, we were once told, but there was no ship to be seen. Where they really there?

Suddenly a ship came out of the sea. Completely dry, as if it has been walking on the water's surface all along. I wish Alex was here to see this, she would've loved it. Poor Alex, now sleeping in the hospital wing.

We cheered and waved to them and then hurried back to the Great Hall.

By the time we all were in the Great Hall professor Dumbledore spoke;

"Welcome our dearest guests from Durmstrang Institute and their headmaster Michael Eriksson!" The gates opened, welcoming a very handsome, tall boys and their good-looking headmaster. He wasn't very old. In fact he was young for a headmaster. They entered in a dramatic way; all marching like marines. Stepping together as if they were one. The Hall broke into applaud, and they deserved it.

Finally, Mr. Eriksson shook professor Dumbledore and professor Dumbledore greeted him, then the Durmstrang boys seated themselves in our seats. Some sat with the Gryffindors, some with the Hufflepuffs, some with the Slytherins and some with us. It took minutes until professor Dumbledore spoke again,

"And now, our muggle-friends. We met some of them the previous year, and we're meeting an elite of them this year. Please welcome our friends from Cambridge High School and two of their teachers' representatives, Miss Holly, Mr. Brooks and Mr. Black."

"That's probably Sirius, or his muggle bother." Max joked. We laughed and then cheered as the gates opened.

Student by student they entered. There were only about ten of them. They looked even more excited than the Durmstrang boys. No wonder, they're muggles, and that's Hogwarts. They must be amazed. I started counting the girls, there were only four.

Then I started looking at each of the students' faces, one by one.

And I saw him. I had to blink a few times to make sure I wasn't hallucinating or dreaming.

"Isn't that-?" Max asked me. And I couldn't stop myself from screaming.
