A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

49. Failure

As I got in the last room, it was not full of people, or dead bodies. This was a fear that I only knew about when I went to Hogwarts. The fear of being surrounded by six Thestrals.

I only saw one, in my life. It looks like a horse, with dragons' wings, but is very frighting. It's dangerous too, especially if not trained, and the six Thestrals surrounding me, didn't really seem trained.

I first tried to be quiet, I didn't want them to realize I was there, but it was useless. Soon all of them started walking towards me, some even sprinting, and I just looked at them, trying or decide what to do. I have fought a Hippogriff in my life, but have never fought a Thestral.

I knew almost nothing about Thestrals, how will I be able to kill them or fight them then?

"Easy now, easy." I said. They started moving their wings, and I knew I'd be dead in seconds. They were huge, and unbeatable. What would I do to five of them anyway? I can't fight five ants together!

My heart was pondering, I could hear it in my ears. As they got nearer I tried to ride them, but they knocked me to the ground. I don't know the right way to treat a Thestral, maybe it's like a Hippogriff, needs respect and bowing.

I tried to bow and then started patting one's head. It felt strange, and it didn't really accept it that much.

I did fall many times, and I hit my head, my elbow and my butt. But the point is, the bell finally rang.

My last three minutes were out.

Never in my life have I been that scared. Not only was I scared, but also sad and mad. Mad because of the stupid people out of this room who're refusing to open the door while there's someone literally dying in here.

"JUST GET ME OUT OF HERE!!" I yelled. "I GIVE UP I DON'T WANT THIS STUPID THING ANYMORE!" I said crying. "I've lost her."

The door burst open.

"Ethan, Ethan it's not her! She's not dead, come on let's get out of here, it was just a part of the test." Mrs Holly was saying. I wasn't sure what to believe, my eyes, or her.

It wasn't Ruby, I noticed as I looked closely. It was a doll, or something. The voice didn't even come from it. There were speakers in the room, but I couldn't see them at first.

I walked out of the room, really furious. What kind of test was that?!

Or is it because that's my worst fear?!

Voldemort stood in front of me. He was threatening me, he wanted to kill me and my family. My sister. He wanted to kill them all, and everyone I cared about.

He was too frighting. I just stood there, stumbled as I walked and stuttered as I talked.

"M-my lord." I said. Was that what I should call him? And what brought him here?!

I was terrified, and I needed guidance.

"It is about time you lost your family, home and life."

"But I-"

"No buts. AVADA KEDAVRA!"

"GET ME OUT OF HERE!" I said shouting and panting.

"Shh, it's okay." Mrs Holly came in and wrapped her arms around me.

"But I failed." I said crying. I was still shivering, and could nearly breathe.

"Well, you're not the only one."
