A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

"What do you want from professor Flitwick?" Max asked.

"I want to tell him about- you know what, just wait and see." I said. We were heading to the Great Hall, it was dinner time by now, and I didn't go there to dine as much as I came to tell professor Flitwick about what I want to tell him.

"Alex Cross." Professor Flitwick said, as if greeting me.

"Professor, I want to tell you about something. I-It happened during my flying class. Actually, I discovered that I can fly!"

"That's amazing news!" He said.

"But professor, as I went up, I couldn't get more than the height I got to, it felt like my body could reach the sky above but my broom couldn't. So, does it have to do with the broomstick or what?"

"Ah." Professor Flitwick looked at me, thinking. "I think I know why it happened, but I can't be sure. Would you mind going to professor Dumbledore's office after dinner?" I nodded. "Great, I'll tell him to expect your visit." And he went to professor Dumbledore. Professor Dumbledore leaner closer to hear him, and then nodded a few times.

I had my dinner really fast, I was curious to know why that happened to me. Apparently it wasn't the broomstick, it was something else. Right after I finished my dinner, I went to professor Dumbledore's office, but didn't think it would be suitable if I got Max with me. Professor Flitwick was waiting for me by the stairway that lead to professor Dumbledore's office. He said a password and the staircase started tilting and going upwards. Next he knocked the door and opened it gently.

"Professor Dumbledore." He started. "Alex Cross, here, told me that she found out that she can fly, but she can't reach as much of height as she's supposed to."

"Hmm. It's not really strange, miss Cross. In, fact it's really good. What's strange, is having the ability of flying, since you're not completely a witch. I think that's why you couldn't reach more height, because you simply are half a muggle. But I also shall expect some strange, and yet great skills in flying. unbelievable balance, maybe. Or perhaps, unexpected high speed?" Professor Dumbledore said.

"Yes professor. Actually I think I have the unexpected high speed ability."

"Ah, quite expected." Professor Flitwick was leaving. "I think I have to expect great things from you, miss Cross. Not because you're half a witch and half a muggle, no. But because you're really good when you're half a witch, and I believe you would've been an extremely good witch, if you were born so." He suddenly stood up and then rested his hand on my shoulder. It was big, and it was the first time for me to actually realize that. His fingers long. "Great thing, love is. You never know what it can get you into. That is why it is important to be loyal to the ones we love." I wasn't really shocked that he changed the subject and started talking about love, instead of my flyign abilities. Love was, after all, the reason I got to be half a witch.

His smile was small, and wise. Whoever looked at Dumbledore knew how wise he is, probably just by the way he walks, or the way he smiles. Great man, Dumbledore is. "You should get some training, miss Cross, and - I would love of you to keep me in touch with everything odd happens with you. No matter how small you may find it, it may be really interesting for me. It's been ages, you know, since I last met half a witch, and it's such a great thing, to know that young, pure love, has been found here in Hogwarts. It's rare, and special."

"Thank you, professor." I said. He nodded, taking his hand off of me.

"Well then, off you go now. I know how busy your timetable is. And if you need anything just remember." He continued whispering. "The password to my office is Phoenixeen. I can trust you with that, can I not Cross?"

"Sure you can professor." I said smiling.

It felt great to hear wise words from him. It actually felt good to be around him, and to know that he trusts me with something, was really amazing.
