A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

106. Christmas

Kyle's family greeted him with lots of hugs, his mother missed him the most apparently. My mother didn't miss me that much, but oh well, she greeted me with lots of love too. Ben's being Ben, sweet and everything. I think he's trying to make me feel safe, and actually it's helping. The magical world's amazing, but it really has become dangerous, especially for me, now that there're people like Voldemort who want me dead. I'm not saying I don't want to go back, but .. I guess it feels good to be safe and with my family and Kyle's. Christmas came just in time.

"Oh, you guys decorated the tree without me!" Kyle said. Of course, he was joking. Kyle hates decorating, he hates cake decorating, room decorating and even trees decorating. If you want to punish him, let him decorate something. But I know that if he did, whatever he decorated will look amazing, he's an artist after all, he's got an artist's eye.

"Don't worry Kyle, you'll decorate it next Christmas, I'll make sure of it." Carla, his sister, said.

"Can I open my presents at least?" Kyle asked.

"What makes you think you have any presents?" Carla asked.

"Umm, hello. I'm a triwizard Champion!"

"Kyle, don't even try. You lost the glamour the minute we reached the platform. It's all gone." I said laughing. He nodded.

"You speak the truth, Cross."

"The ugly truth only." I smirked at him.

"Actually Kyle's right for a change, we did buy him presents. But you can't open them, not until tomorrow." His dad said. Same rules every year. We sat with them for a while, but we were really exhausted so we didn't really sit for too long. At last, we said good night and went to our beds. Mom is sleeping in the guests room, Ben is sleeping at his house and naturally, I'm sleeping in Carla's room. It took no time at all for me to start snorting.

Christmas was really fun this year. Best thing about Christmas is the family gathering and what better family can I ask for?

The present opening part was really nice, and it was hilarious for some reason. I don't know what it really was that caused us to laugh, but we seemed to laugh at anything. I like simple presents, so my family always get me something simple. Mom brought me a scarf, dad brought me a nice watch, Carla bought me socks (what kind of a present is that?) Alex brought me a new set of colors and painting notebooks and her mom and Ben bought me some clothes. The presents were all nice, I loved them.

The next day, I tried to make sure everything was going to be perfect, I was expecting Clara. She said she'll come. Someone knocked my door, and when I opened the door, I was surprised to see Jasmine there. Jasmine, not Clara.

"Hey Kyle, I heard you came back so, I figured I should come and say hello." I haven't seen Jasmine in a long time, ever since I left actually. She looked as good looking as ever, but something about that smile of hers was different. I couldn't really tell what it was, but she's changed a bit. She was wearing a green shirt and some jeans and she had a pie in her hands. "It's kind of a tradition, the pie." She said as I looked at it. I took it from her and smiled, telling her to come in. Right after I put the pie in the kitchen she gave me a hug, which was awkward at first.

"Friends, I know. I don't want to mess up with you and Clara, not again. I want you to have the best relationship ever, I'm here as a friend, trust me." I nodded. Alex came in the room, she smiled when she saw Jasmine.

"Hey!" She said friendly. And Jasmine hugged her as tightly as if they've always been best friends.

"I'm happy you're all well. I heard about what happened and I got really angry."

"But you helped me a lot this year, thank you."

"Did I miss something?"

"Didn't I tell you that Jasmine told mom and Ben about the brilliant idea of the movie filming? She brought my mother to me in a time that I really needed her." Alex explained. So Jasmine is actually good, I think. I just can't stop feeling bad for her, she looks deeply sad.

"Anyway, I just came to say hello and give you this pie, I hope you like it, I baked it myself. Hope I get to see you more often now that you're here. Merry Christmas." She said, walking to the door. I opened the door for her.

"Merry Christmas, Jasmie." I said. I rethought about it then. "Actually Jasmine," She turned to me. "Clara's coming, would you like to meet her?"

"Of course I would, but ... um, can I talk to you privately?" She asked. I nodded, taking her to the kitchen. "Does she .. know?" She asked shamefully.

"Yes." I paused. "But she wouldn't mind it, she's over it. It's totally fine if you don't feel like staying-"

"No, it's alright, I don't mind, it's just that.. I don't know how I'm gonna face her." She sighed. "I could barely breathe when I met Alex."

"Why? What you did to her was amazing, bringing her mother. Why did you do it, though? How did you know she was in danger?" I asked puzzled.

"Um, yeah." She shook her head then, "Actually Kyle, there's something I need to tell you."

"What is it?" I asked, worried.

"No, not today. Clara's coming and you should be happy, what I want to say isn't very nice." I got even more worried.

"Jasmine. What is it?" She shook her head.

"Tomorrow." I was going to argue, but the doorbell sound stopped me. I nodded to her and went to get it. This must be Clara. I opened the door, and it was her indeed.

"I'm so happy to see you." She said. I hugged her tightly. taking her suitcase next. Alex greeted her then, and then she saw Jasmine.

"Clara, that's Jasmine." I could tell she was a bit shocked but she covered it with a smile very fast.

"Hello." She said, shaking her hand.

"Now let me lead you to the girls room before you meet my parents." I said wrapping my arm around her waist. "How was your flight?" I asked her.

"Fine. Scary though." When we got in the room and I was sure Jasmine couldn't hear me, I started explaining.

"She just came to give me a pie, I wanted to make sure she knew that whatever happened between the two of us wouldn't exist anymore, but she told me that she already knows and that she came here as a friend. She was going to leave, but she was sad so I told he to stay if she wants and she was worried because she wasn't sure how to act when she meets you, she's still ashamed-"

"Kyle. Will you please calm down?" Clara said smiling. "It's okay, I'm not mad. I was just surprised to see her and know who she is. We fought because of her once, I won't let her do it twice." I kissed her cheek. "But I can see now what you saw in her, she's really pretty."

"Clara, she's not even half as pretty as you are." I said. She blushed instantly and I kissed her. "Now let's meet my family."
