A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

33. Charms

The apparition lesson went on really well, for me. I managed to make some process, I don't know if it's like, really good or if it's just okay, but I enjoyed the class anyway. I've been waiting for the Apparition class for ages, I've always wanted to learn how to Apparate, it makes things easier. When the enemies come real close, you can always apparate.

Since I had a break now I went to the common room, the boys with me were really happy. Lupin was the best in apparating, so far, and he was so proud of himself. Prongs and Wormtail were both laughing about a prank that they did to a boy who just walked past us.

After this break I have Charms with the Ravenclaws. Last year, that meant I'd share a class with beautiful Alex, but this year it's different, since her timetable's really special. But the good thing is that she does share this class with me. Well, with me and the Ravenclaws. The only difference is that while I have just one class, she has two. Poor Alex.

"It's been a while since we last met Hagrid, or visited him. Don't you think we should go to his place?" I asked the boys.

"Yeah, sure." Moony said. "But not today, I've got loads of homework, and besides, it's nearly twilight." We all gave him a look.

"And since when exactly do we avoid sneaking out at night?" James asked.

"I don't know, I thought we'd start doing that after I nearly killed you all and Kyle last year, while we were in the dark forest at midnight." James and I both laughed at this.

"No mate, it won't change a thing. It was a mistake, and it will not be repeated. You will be more careful with taking your potion." I added in a low voice.

"We'll go tomorrow." Remus said assertively.

We reached the Charm's classroom. Professor Flitwick stood by his position, and students filled the seats, but not all of them, since we weren't really late.

"And of course we'll sit by Alex and Max and Clara, right Romeos?" Asked James, looking from Remus to me. The four of us laughed. Yeah, he can joke about it like he wants, we both know it's actually true, my love for Alex.

"Sure." Remus said. And we sat by the four girls. Max, Alex, Clara and her sister.

It's normal for me to be really nervous, I think. Since it's the first Charms class that I'll be trying to use magic in, ever. I don't know if I'll be able to make some spells and charms. I really want to be able to, but I'm not very positive.

Professor Flitwick clears his throat and starts talking, "Good afternoon. Today we will be learning about a spell that needs lots of practice. It's useful, and especially for the lazy ones. It's called the Summoning Charm. Now, you've sure heard about this charm." No actually, I haven't. I think."Now the incantation is Accio. I'll show you an example." He cleared his throat again, and pointed his wand at a student. "Accio hat." He said. The student's hat flew into the professor's hands. The class went into an applaud. "You must concentrate on the object you want to summon, and then say the incantation clearly. Come on, now, give it a try." Everyone started trying the spell. Somehow, I felt like that didn't include me. Sirius told me that I had to start with some simple spells, and this didn't really seem like an easy, simple one. As if reading my bewilderment, professor Flitwick came to me, after helping a student with her spell; "Now, of course Cross, you won't be doing this spell now. You'll start with an incantation called, Wingardium Leviosa." As he said it, he pointed his wand to my book and it went up in the air, controlled by his wand. Okay, that seemed quite fine! But is it easy? I nodded, excitedly. Noticing Sirius looking at me.

"Come on, try it." He said. "It'd be fun, doing your first spell ever." And despite the fact that I was like, really excited, I was starting to get a bit nervous. What if it didn't work?

I nodded and took my wand, held it in the right way that Sirius taught me, I looked at him, showing him how I pay attention to his teaching, proudly. He smiled and continued watching me, joined by a cheerful James. Apparently he managed to master the summoning spell, or something. Okay. Now concentrate. I told myself.

"Swish and flick." Professor Flitwick said, still standing beside me. Swish and flick.

"Wingardium Leviosa." I first tried, pointing my wand at a piece of parchment instead of the whole book. No, that wasn't enough. "Wingardium Leviosa." I said again and more clearly. Slowly, the parchment started going upwards, following the instructions of my wand. Oh my god. I'm actually moving things by my freaking wand! My excitement, and my friends's made me forget about the whole thing. I started moving the wand in all directions -the parchment following it in the sky, very fast- and then I put my wand down -causing the parchment to finally fall to the floor- and hugged Max, then Clara and then Sirius. A single, happy tear actually managed to escape my eyes. And Sirius gave me a small kiss.

"Good job Alex Cross! Good job!" Professor Flitwick said. "Although, it's not okay to snog in class, so I'll be taking five points from your and Mr Black's houses." Sirius and I both laughed. My laugh was loud because it was mixed with the excitement and happiness that I was currently still feeling.

"Speaking of snogging. It's making me get all angry, you know, because all of your girlfriends are here and mine's not." James said.

"Really? And what am I? A potatoes bag?" Peter asked.

"Yeah, a potatoes bag is close enough for what you are." Remus teased him. Max nudged him, but even Peter laughed about that.
