A Magical Year (Magical trilogy book #2)

*Complete* 1976 ... Last year, Alex and Kyle visited Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with their school. They're best friends, and more like a brother and sister. Hogwarts was not the kind of school they expected to ever visit, since it taught REAL magic. And they never expected to meet such people there, people who they'd love.
Because of this love, Alex got the ability to make some simple spells; a talent that it so rare that it's nearly impossible. Now what'll happen when Alex turns from a muggle to a part-witch? And what will the Ministry of Magic decide to do about her?

If you still don't know if Alex is alive or not, you should know that she sadly is. Don't worry though, this can soon be changed.

This will be your last chance Jazz.

Her being in the triwizard tournament is a very good thing. She can be easily killed without anyone knowing about the killer. Everyone would say, she simply died because of the tasks or something. That's been my plan. To kill her in the tournament. I may not do it myself, I might put someone under the imperious curse or cast a spell on her or something, I don't know what all the other tasks will be like, but when I do, I'll think about it more, and according to what they'll be, I'll kill her.

I'll kill her Jasmine. I will do it, with your help or without it. I just hope I'll be able to do it with your help.

You're my sister, don't forget that. This isn't about her, Jazz, it's about us. We'll both live if we kill her and we'll both die if we don't.

I hope that'll change your mind, because if it did, you should know that you can do it, together we both can.

We can kill Alex Cross.

I read Kat's letter over and over. I can't believe she's doing this. I can't believe I was helping her with that. Whether Alex was Kyle's friend or not, that's wrong. It's so, so wrong. Her being Kyle's friend though, has made everything worse. He would die if he lost her, he would really be broken so bad and I won't let that happen.

The decision is, my and Kat's lives or Alex's life and Kyle's happiness. My choice is still the same. I'd rather die than kill someone and cause Kyle to be sad.

The thing is, Kat's really serious about this. I know my sister so well, when she says she'll do something, she does it. She's deadly serious about this. I should stop her. I should stop her. I should stop her.

My eyes soon start to tear, I should stop her and I don't even know how.

Kyle and Alex are both with her, she's the one who's been meeting Voldemort not me, she's the witch. I am nothing. I can do nothing! Nothing but a worthless squib. How will I be able to stop her then? How?

I think about it for a while until I get an idea. I don't know if it'll work, but it's the only thing I can do.

Ben and I are packing, we'll be ready to leave soon. We should leave tonight so that we'll be there tomorrow in the morning. Ben's plan is really good, I think it will help.

While I was trying to remember if I've forgotten anything the bell rang. First I was a bit worried, then I remembered it's Halloween. Probably a kid knocking people's door's for Trick or Treat.

"I'll get it." I said to Ben. He's been staying here for a while.

I brought some candy and got the door.I found a teenage girl there. Pretty, tall and she looked about Alex's age. She wasn't wearing a costume though.

"Good evening Mrs. Cross." Mrs. Cross. I was about to tell her that I am not Mrs. Cross anymore but I thought I'd let it drop, after all that's how some strangers call me. She must be one of Alex's schoolmates from Cambridge.

"Good evening." I said.

"Umm, I'm Jasmine, a friend of Kyle's. I'm sorry for coming this late but- can I have a moment to talk to you about something?" Kyle's friend?

"Sure sweetie, but, I'm Alex's mother not Kyle's, so if you want to talk about Kyle, why didn't you go to his mother? I mean, Kyle's like a kid of mine and of course you can talk to me about him if you want, but why not simply tell his mother?" I asked.

"It's not about Kyle. It's about Alex." I wasn't sure what to expect from her, what did she want to tell me about Alex? Is Alex safe? Would Hogwarts' headmaster, Dumbledore tell me if something bad happened to her? I was starting to panic and I nodded and let her in.

She sat in the living room and I could tell she was kind of nervous.

"So about Alex?" I asked.

"Yeah well, I used o see her at school, but I didn't really know her that much, when she went to Hogwarts, though, I met Kyle and tried to befriend with him-"

"Woah, woah, she went where?" How exactly did she know about Hogwrarts and about Alex going there? Did Kyle tell her?

"Um, Kyle went there too and I was trying to go to Hogwarts. It's the school our school had a student exchange program with last year." So that's all she knew about Hogwarts, but how did she know about Alex? Maybe Alex told the other students that she was going to Hogwarts without mentioning why she's actually going there? I wasn't sure how to feel about all of this, all I could tell is that Jasmine knew something that I didn't about Alex. But I wasn't sure if she should be trustworthy.

"Listen kid, I should be honest with you, I don't have much time, I'm packing and I'm going somewhere so-"

"No, no you can't be packing you should know something!" She interrupted.

"Yes, exactly, I should know something, so what is it?"

"Alex isn't safe." She said in a whisper, as if she was afraid of the words, as if someone could hear us.

"Don't forget to bring you tooth-" Ben came in the room and Jasmine looked terrified. "Hello."

"Hi." Jasmine said, then turned to me, "Um, I didn't know - I'm sorry I should just-" She stood up, trying to leave.

"No, don't be scared, he's- you can trust him. You can say anything about Alex in front of him."

She still looked scared, but she nodded anyway.

"Just, please. Please promise it will stay between the three of us." She pleaded. I thought she was going to cry for a second.

"Of course, Jasmine. We promise, right Ben?"

"Yeah, promise." Ben was worried by now.

The whole atmosphere in the room was filled with worry.

Then in a whisper that I would've never heard if the room wasn't that silent she said,

"They're trying to kill her."
