Have you ever felt like you're being watched? Have you ever felt like somebody is behind you when you walk? When you're alone? When the lights are off? We all do, at some point. Unfortunately for some of us...this isn't just our imagination.

16. Lullaby (The End)

"I'm telling you, it wasn't me! It was some guy that has been following me. I have no idea who he is, and I did not kill those people. She was going to be my fiancee, for gods sake!" Nick kept saying the same thing over and over again. He sat in an uncomfortable plastic chair facing 2 detectives. A camera was aimed at his face as he told them the pure truth. But they didn't believe one bit of it.

"So you're telling us that all that blood on you was not of the 2 victims?"

"It was!, I mean...Argh! It's hard to explain! The blood was all over him, and he tackled me down. I'm guessing that is how the blood got there, don't you think? Jeez, do you guys not have any common sense at all?"

The detectives looked at each other, shook their heads, and walked out.

"Hey! where are you going? I-I swear I'm not lying!"

"What do you think, Jet?" Toby asked, "You think the kids telling the truth? Because honestly, I think the guy is crazy." "Kids definitely a nut job. Here's what happened, I'm guessing that he proposed to his beautiful girlfriend and she said no. So, he was pissed enough to beat the living crap out of her. Did you see those nasty bruises on her face? This kid is a deadbeat liar." They discussed the situation repeatedly as Nick stared at them through the large window in the small room. The only illumination in the room was a small beam of light coming from an old light bulb. Nick waited and was dying to know what they were saying. He didn't do wasn't him.

"Then, she tries to save her life, stabs the guy in the shin, and maybe lands a few blows here and there. I mean that cut was deep into his shin, man." Jet says. As Toby, the other detective, thinks it over, he plays with his Badge. He debates on whether Jet's theory was true. After a while, he agrees. They go back inside the room.

"Yesterday, at about 1 am, we had a police officer that said there was a Blue Toyota Camry speeding at very high speeds. It actually killed 2 people in its rampage. Now, here's the odd thing.", Toby said as he looked Nick in the eyes, "Your blue Toyota Camry has a front bumper that looks like Rocky Balboas face after he fought Apollo Creed. You flipped over a car and killed a teenager, you killed a thief, and the fact that he was a thief doesn't make it okay. And here you are telling us that there's this magical disappearing man who follows you and has been following you. Sounds to me like you're not just going to prison, you're going to an insane asylum, kid." Nick's stomach sunk. He felt terrible. He knew he wasn't going to prison, he was going to an insane asylum. He wasn't crazy, it wasn't Nick. But nobody believes him. Nick knew this was the end of his life. He was done with college, he had lost Sofia, he was going to an insane asylum.

The place was just as creepy and shady as you could imagine it. Everything was white, Nick had to sleep in a hole of a cell by himself, and worse of all, he was here for 30 years. There was one window in his cell. No glass, just bars. Thick bars. His bead was on the floor and it had ropes that he would be strapped to when he received his 'medicine'. Nick didn't even care anymore. It was over. Everything. He had lost his mind in this place.

The first night Nick was there, he was strapped to the bed. He stared at the white cinder brick wall next to him and cried. His sound-proof doors muted out his loud bawling. Nick thought he was going to die in here. He hoped 30 years would go by fast. The bed he laid on was uncomfortable and itchy. He had a thin white sheet over him. His tears were pouring down his face and causing an unbearable tickle. He was unable to wipe at the tear, but he stopped crying when he heard a familiar tune. Outside of his second story window, from that night and so forth, he heard a man humming. The man was humming a tone that was supposed to be sweet, but was hummed menacingly. It was the Mockingbird lullaby.
