Stalked

Have you ever felt like you're being watched? Have you ever felt like somebody is behind you when you walk? When you're alone? When the lights are off? We all do, at some point. Unfortunately for some of us...this isn't just our imagination.

5. Hospital

Nick lays on a hospital bed, unconscious. He has wires surrounding his wrists to monitor his heart rate. An uncomfortable white sheet covers his body from his chest down as he slowly breathes. He's been here for a few hours after a man going home from work found him on the sidewalk. Luckily, Nick was alright. He didn't suffer much other than a nasty bruise and some minor swelling.

He wakes up, covered in cold sweat, and his heart is racing. The last thing he remembers was the silhouette of a deformed man. Although he could not see the mans face or clothing, he was terrified. He looks around frantically in hope of seeing someone who could tell him where he was...anyone. After seeing nobody, he pushes the sheet aside and slowly gets to his feet. All the while he is hearing a constant beeping that is getting faster by the minute.

"Wha- Sit down!" He hears, "You shouldn't be up. lay back down, get some rest! Please- Sir... S-Sir!" The sharp voice of a young nurse is heard as he looks around, unable to see her.

She runs over to nick and startles him a bit. She assures him that everything will be fine, and that he should sit down and take a breather.

"N-No! That Th-Thing! It's following me...Is it you?!" He grabs her shirt with both hands,

"Are you the one following me? Did you do this?" Nick is looking at her eyes. He can see tears forming as she helplessly says to let go. He slowly comes to his senses that he is just imagining things, and that this beautiful woman probably had nothing to do with what Nick had just experienced. He apologizes, and lets her go.

Nick tries not to cry as the nurse forgives him and starts patting his back. She too begins to wipe away some tears. Its a good thing he didn't suffer much, or he would have to stay in that dreadful hospital for a few days. The nurse tells Nick that he will only need to be here for tonight while they study his head injury the next morning. Nick agrees, and is offered food. He nods his head, still embarrassed of what he had just done to the innocent nurse.

After chatting with the doctor, Nick noticed the nurse did not inform the doctor of their previous 'incident'. He was thankful, if not he would most likely have been sent to an insane asylum. Once nick was alone with a tray full of hospital food and a tv remote, he looked out the window to reveal the morning sun. Looks like he was out all night. He didn't mind, though. He was sure a night in he hospital would be fun. After all, this was one of those good hospitals, Nick thought. The ones with HBO and Starz. Nick was looking forward to a very fun night filled with movies and food...but he couldn't have been more wrong.
