Have you ever felt like you're being watched? Have you ever felt like somebody is behind you when you walk? When you're alone? When the lights are off? We all do, at some point. Unfortunately for some of us...this isn't just our imagination.

12. Creak

Nick was speeding much faster than he should have. This rain was terrible. It was hard for him to see even with the windshield wipers on. His tires were spinning too fast to stay in control in the slick road. Then he saw police lights ahead. He hesitated to slow down, but when he did, his vehicle was swerving around the road. Nick started to take his foot off of the petal so he wouldn't flip over his car. After a few seconds, his Toyota straightened up. He slammed on the gas once again. By the time his foot was on the pedal, he looked at the blinding police lights and shielded his eyes. Nick looked away and didn't think anything was wrong until he heard a very loud thump. He knew he hit something, but the car did not slow down.

Sofia's house was only 3 blocks away and at this speed, Nick would be there in a matter of seconds. All he had to do was cross this usually busy street, turn right, and he'd be there. The good thing was there were usually no cars around in this area, especially at times like this. At this point, Nick had forgotten that he had even hit something.

Once he reached the busy street, all he had to do was go one more block and turn. Luckily, there were no cars to be seen. Nick looked at the light, just to be sure. When he was about 20 feet away from the light, it turned red. It was too late. Nick was going to fast to stop. He figured he might as well keep going since there were no cars to be seen anywhere. Nick didn't see a familiar red mustang until the last second.

The collision was strong and deadly. Nick's car flipped over the mustang, but his car wasn't very damaged. The impact only slowed Nicks car down and sent the car a few feet in the air. When it landed, Nick might have broken a few bones, but he kept going. Nothing could stop him from reaching Sofia. His cellphone had fallen out of his hand in the impact. He desperately looked around his car as he drove. Once he found it, he picked it up and said;

"Baby, are you still there? Babe, I'm here! I'm only a few blocks away. I'm so close!" His voice was shaking and his body was aching in pain. He was too close to give up now.

Nick awaited for a response for a few seconds before getting one.

"Y-Ye.....Yeah, I'm here baby, but please...please hurry up. The police aren't here yet. I'm so scared. He's in the same room as I am, and he...h...he m-might be able to h-hear...hear me" She whispered, "Please hurry up... Ple-" Her voice stopped as a soft creak was heard in the background as the closet door slowly opened.
