43. Chapter 43

Harry's POV

"Shit," I curse to myself after dropping a mug. I bend down and collect the broken pieces laying them lightly as possible on the counter top.

I quickly grab another mug and fill it up with hot chocolate. I sip a bit and move towards the front door, I look out the window a second time at the slow, steady falling white drips of snow. I cant believe it's already only three weeks till Christmas!

After getting old of staring out the window I make my way towards the lounge. Expecting to turn on the fire, grab a blanket, and sit alone, instead I see Carter sitting there.

"You alright love?" I ask sitting beside her. She nods in reply and even though she wont admit it, I know its time for a 'Harry' talk. I gather up a blanket for us and flip the switch which starts the electric fire. Almost automatically the electric flames pop up immediately sending heat through out the room. I take my seat back down beside her on the brown leather couch and she shows a slight smile. I take back up my mug and she lifts her own to her lips.

"Carter... talk to me," I sigh through the warm liquid and she glances my way.

"I just... I c-cant believe Louis still wants me," she shakes her head in embarrassment and sips some more.

"Why on earth would you wonder anything about that?! He loves you Carter," I reply and she just laughs. No one says anything for a while and then I decide to speak again.

"Why didn't you tell me? Ok, yea I get that it would worry you that Lou might leave but me? Why?" I ask sincerely and she looks at me, sighs, and looks back down.

"I didn't want to tell anyone, Liam practically told me and I just didn't want anyone to think anything, I just didn't want you'll to worry." she responds and a few tears drip slowly from her eyes. She wipes them off before I have the chance and again glances at me.

"I worried when I saw how different you were acting," I sigh and bring her into a hug.

"Thanks Harold," she laughs and ruffles my hair with her fingers.

"Hey," I point a finger at her making her giggle even more.

"Just know that if you ever need anything... I'm here," I smile and once again wrap her in my arms.
