Only When I Walk Away (Under Major Editing)

Don't you only love me when I walk away?

1. Chapter 1

We peacefully sat under the tree, the cool breeze blowing our hair slightly. It was our lunch break and the smell of our fresh lunches in our hands filled my senses. We watched other students walking, talking, eating, doing student things. My legs were crossed slowly rocking back and forth swiftly and smoothly. He sat crossed leg, his right knee bouncing up and down. It was a very slow day and I was growing tired of just watching students go on about their day.

"Okay, Liam. Would you rather speak any language fluently or be able to talk to animals?" I looked at my friend smiling.

I watched as his shoulders slumped. He closed his eyes sighing, I bet he was contemplating why he was still friends with me. When he finally opened his eyes he looked at me with a bored expression on his face.

"Not this again," Liam groaned. "You always make this game so hard."

I giggled, leaning back against the tree. I've known Liam since we've been children. He first moved to America when he was nine and I was eight. Our parents became close friends, since they lived next door. Over the years we only got closer and closer and more attached to each other. Our quick friendship surprised my parents, seeing as they felt I always had a problem with meeting new people. We were both lucky enough to attend our hometown university together, and being together all the time made everything seem all the more normal. I felt Liam place his palm on my knee, squeezing lightly.

"Would you rather be able to run at 100 miles per hour or fly at 10 miles per hour?'' He asked moments later.

"That's easy, fly." I shrugged my shoulders. "Y'know you're not really good at this game."

Liam sat back leaning against the tree pouting. He crossed his arms across his chest like a child. I rolled my eyes playfully before laying my head on his shoulder.

"Would you rather hang out with me after class or go straight home and do homework?"

Liam looked down at me. He began to shrug the shoulder my head was resting on.

"I'll hang with you."

"Yay!" I exclaimed, clapping my hands excitedly.  "We can go get coffee."

I checked the time on my phone, my next class would start in five minutes. I groaned while lifting my head off of Liam's shoulder. He stood up extending his hand out for me to grab. I grabbed his large palm as he pulled me up a little too roughly causing me to stumble and crash into his chest. I lightly gripped his shirt to prevent me from falling over. Liam chuckled, causing me to give him an angered look.

"Sorry, Lotus."

I rolled my eyes as we began walking to our classes. The campus was fairly large, as we walked into a building we began walking up the stair before striding down the corridor. We reached the hallway where we both had to go in different directions.

"Alright, well meet me here so we can get coffee."  Liam said while showing off the smile I've gotten accustomed to over the years.

I gave Liam a hug, wrapping my arms around his neck. His arms held me close to him, laying on the small of my back. I could feel Liam smile into the hug, It caused me to smile at him, pulling away, my arms still around his neck and his arms still on the small of my back.

"Alright Lotus. I'll see you."

He gave me a friendly peck on the cheek as we pulled away, walking in opposite directions to our class.
