Vanilla Twilight

The stars lean down to kiss you
And I lie awake and miss you
Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere
'Cause I'll doze off safe and soundly
But I'll miss your arms around me
I'd send a postcard to you, dear
'Cause I wish you were here

*Vanilla Twilight Lyrics by Owl City*

Zayn had fallen head over heals for his true love Ariella. But something happened that should never happen to a love so strong. Two became one. Zayn didn't handle it so well. He kept up with his feelings in his journal. He thinks nobody knows what happens. But everybody does. The worst part, Zayn doesn't want to accept that it did.

Anaise is a quiet and shy girl who is looking for somebody to love her. She is trying to look for a place in this world. Little does she know what the world has in store for her.

What happens when these 2 cross paths?
Will he leave the past behind and look at what's in front of him?
Will she accept him in her heart?

15. Chapter 14

Zayn's POV

I stood there completely frozen, unable to move. I didn't know what to say. Even though it wasn't her, just looking at somebody who held so much resemblance had brought up a lot of buried emotions.

"Zayn, do you remember my mom? Jen?" I moved my glazed eyes to the upper middle aged woman who was still sitting down in the booth. I hadn't even noticed that she was there. I gave a slight nod and stuck my hand out for her to shake.

She looked at my hand and then at my face. She rejected my kind gesture and stood up and engulfed me in a hug. I was taken back a bit and didn't react until I registered what she was doing and I wrapped my arms around the short woman.

"Oh my god Zayn. We've missed you so much. We haven't forgotten about you ya know." She pulled back a bit and looked at my face. I gave her a small, somewhat forced smile still trying to process what has happened.

"We haven't heard from you in forever! I mean of course we keep up with you what being famous and all but I mean we haven't personally heard from you. I was starting to grow worried. I thought you fell off the face of the Earth!" She laughed a bit smiling.

I chuckled a bit shaking my head slightly. "I can assure you that I am still here, obviously."

I felt a hand land on my right shoulder and I looked over to see Cady giving me a worried look. "How have you been Zayn? We were really worried."

I tried not to let my true emotions show, afraid that I would just bring up unwanted emotions. I had to do what I do best, lie.

"I've been alright. Pretty busy and all being on tour but altogether, yeah, just..nice." I managed to force a smile to convince them further. I looked over at Cady who was focused on something behind me. I then turned around only to find a timid and confusing girl with white hair. Anaise.

"Zayn, who's this?" She asked stepping next to me and staring at Cady and Jen. I could tell that she was trying to smile and be polite but knowing her, she was just so uncomfortable and uneasy that it showed.

"Oh this is Cady and her mother Jen. Uhh they're related to...Ariella." I said in a rather quiet manner. "And this is Anaise...my...friend." Cady stared at her for a bit then slowly stuck her hand out and gave her a smile.

"It's a pleasure meeting you. How do you two know each other?" She said letting go of Anaise's hand and looking at me.

"She's assisting Lou, our hair dresser. You remember her right?"

"Yeah.."

There was a bit of an awkward silence after that until Jen had noticed and decided to speak up relieving some of the tension.

"Well Zayn, Anaise, it was so nice to see you again. Please take care of yourself and give me call! Next time you're in London I think we would all have a nice conversation over lunch." Jen told me while handing me a card with hers and Cady's number on it.

"Will do. See you guys soon." Jen walked past me and started for the door. Cady looked at me for a bit before giving me another hug.

"Please take care of her like you would with Ariella." She whispered in my ear. I pulled back and looked into her deep blue eyes. That was only one of the few things that was different between Cady and Ariella. Her eyes were a much deeper blue than her counterpart.

"I will." I gave her a light kiss on the cheek and watched her walk away.

I tried so hard to get over her, but after that encounter I only realized that even the slightest resemblance to Ariella would just send me over the edge again. I don't know how much longer I can hold on.

I turned back around to be met with a different shade of blue irises that were complimenting a confused face.

"Are you okay Zayn?"

"Yeah."
