2. Chapter 2

The hall became full of exclamations and murmurs, people frantically searched around them trying to find the children. Robin stared at his sisters with horror, he had honestly thought that they hadn’t been noticed. Without even thinking he grabbed Favel and Keziah and pulled them towards the door. A young man leant forward and blocked the exit, leaving the siblings to cry out in despair. Their mother was yelling from the stage.

“Let them go!” she exclaimed, trying to pull her arms free from her handcuffs. “Leave them alone!”

The room became full of noise, a group of men grabbed the sisters and held them around their waists. Robin was about to run at them when two unknown women attacked the men with chairs, causing their grips to loosen.

“Run!” the women ordered the siblings, and they made a dash through the exit, fighting off the arms that were lunging towards them. They sprinted as fast as they could down the back alley that led out towards the main square. They could hear shouts from behind them and looked back to see the men at their heels. Robin took his sisters by their hands and dragged them behind him, but they were not fast enough.

Back in the hall the two ladies that had helped them to escape were being handcuffed and dragged into different rooms. “They’re only children! Leave them alone!” they had shrieked before being knocked unconscious. Master Napier was pacing back and forth on the stage, his face crumpled with anger.

“Traitors, all of them are traitors!” he hissed to the judge.

“Don’t worry Master Napier, they will be found” he replied reassuringly.

“Just to let you know” the woman looked up and gave them a triumphant smile. “My children are surprisingly good at hiding”.

Master Napier brought back his hand and slapped her round her face but her smile still remained. She knew that she would be murdered for what she had done but she only cared that her children were safe, and would never be found.

“When we find them” Master Napier sneered. “-Which trust me, we will. I will take pleasure in hurting them, and it will all be your fault”.

A few members of the audience protested. “You can’t do that!” someone yelled. “They’re innocent children, it’s not their fault!”

“But we don’t know that” Master Napier replied solemnly. “They could be spying on us aswell, we can’t just let them go”.

“Just leave my children out of this” the woman begged.

“You tell us what we want to know and then we will” the judge walked over to her.

“I’ve told you, never”.

“Then prepare to face the consequences” Master Napier snarled.
