Elsie has always been invisable to those around her, so she decides to runaway. She finds a big abandoned flat, but another person has had the same idea.

3. The Weekend

I woke up the next morning; it was the weekend- but being the geek I was, I woke up at eight o'clock. I pulled the covers off and slowly stepped out into the cold air. I got changed and walked down the stairs. My mum was obviously still in bed. I opened a cupboard and pulled a box of cheerio's out and poured them into a bowl with some milk on top. I sat there and ate my cheerios and, when I was done, I went to the sweet shop just across the road. I grabbed my coat and, just as I opened the door, I heard my mum's slippers scraping against the tile floor. I closed the door, to avoid all the excuses my mum might of given me to why she got back so late. I used to mind her being out late and dad in London but I have had enough of all the excuses so I try not to make a fuss. I ran out to our drive, then across the road to a small sweet shop. I love it in the sweet shop; all the different smells and bright, different colours. For some reason it's really comforting. A lady emerged from behind the couter as I sat down,

"Hey Elsie" she said

"Oh hey kate" I said and turned around to look at her. Her long, blonde hair in a loose, scruffy bun, her dark brown eyes glinting. I looked at my own mousey, lifeless hair and smiled at kate, hiding my real feelings. She smiled back and stepped into the store cupboard behind the counter and after a few minutes my eyes were closed and I was drifting to sleep.
