Careless -Complete-

You were my best friend. We did everything together. You were my first laugh, my first trouble, my first time. Then you left when I needed you most. So Liam, please tell me why you're back. I want us to be the same but how can that be? We can't because back then we were careless...and I'm a mother now.

27. Wonder Woman

5 months later

"Hold me" Jamie whined as he held up his arms, waiting for my to pick him up. I tried my best to bend and pick him up but these days it's been very hard. Liam stepped in and picked him up instead, "You're getting big Jamie" he huffed. "I want mommy!" "No no. Mommy's tired."

I sighed, Liam is making a big deal out of everything.

"Set him down, his class is about to start and I don't want him to be the last one in there."

Liam set down a scared looking Jamie. He crouched down in front of him and said, "Don't be nervous okay? There's going to be a lot of kids just like you and you're going to make great friends."

"You sure?"

I smiled down at him and nodded. Today was Jamie's first day of school. Technically it was preschool but he was just as nervous. He didn't know anyone and he was completely freaking out. We decided to start him in early classes because I promised Liam that we'd tour with them next month. We moved all the way to London just to be closer to him all the time. Right now we lived in Liam's flat that he shares with Niall but it's honestly a tight fit for all of us.

So here we were, shipping Jamie off to school in Doncaster London where he's nervous that he won't 'fit in'. Yes, he's the youngest, having the latest birthday in October and only being three. I promised him that after today we'd get him ice cream. But I was looking forward to the surprise that Liam had for me when we left this place.

I put his backpack on his back and kissed the top of his head. "You're all set baby." "I gonna miss you" he said in a small voice. "You too baby." "Good luck" Liam said as he ruffled his hair.

"Is everything alright Noah?" We turned our heads to see Jamie's teacher, Mrs.Willows, standing outside the classroom door, checking on us. He shyly nods. "Come on" she instructed, holding out her hand. Jamie walks to her and is just about to take her hand when...

"Wait let me say bye." "I thought you di-"

Jamie wrapped his arms around my belly and snuggled his cheek against it. I giggled a bit at his endearment. "Bye bye" he muffled and kissed me through my shirt before running off with his teacher.

"He's excited" Liam chuckled. "I don't know I think you're a little more than he is."

He didn't disagree with me because he knew it was true. Just to prove my point he crouched down before me and rubbed my protruding stomach, "How's my baby boy?" I tried to swat his roaming hands away. "Liam we're in public." "Okay?" "Get off of the ground" I groaned. He sighed "Alright alright." He stood up and pecked me on the lips. "Now it's time for your surprise" he smiled and helped me along the hallway to the car. He helped me with my seatbelt as if I were disabled and got into the drivers seat before driving off.

In the car I began to think about that day we found out that I was pregnant. Such a scare, such a surprise.

"ow" I mumbled as I felt the IV in my arm. I freaking hate needles. "Eden" I heard Liam's panicked voice. "Liam?" I whispered. My head hurt and I felt truly drained. "Eden you're alright." "What happened?" "You fainted at the airport a-and we brought you here." "We? Where's my baby?" "Jamie is in the waiting room with the boys, Eleanor and your parents." "My parents?" "Yeah they're here for you." "How-How long have I been here?" "Only a day or two." I gasped, "What about the tour Li? You're not supposed to be here." "Yes, I am. I'm not just gonna leave you here."

There was a knock on the door and what seemed to be a nurse came in. "Oh good, you're awake. How do you feel?" "Tired." "That's normal. We tested you while you were asleep." "And?" "It's completely normal to feel light headed in your condition. Especially when you take anti-depressants. You're putting your little boy at risk."

"Taking anti-depressants while pregnant is really putting your baby at risk."

I all of a sudden felt light headed again. "Pregnant?"

"Ms.Hill, you're nearly two months pregnant." Concern flashed on her face. "I...I had n-no idea."

"What risks?" Liam's voice croaked at the question.

The nurse cleared her throat and read my chart. "Spinal bifida, heart disease, cleft palate."

A tear rolled down my cheek, "Which one one is more possible?" "Since you are so early in your pregnancy I think the most possible one would be heart disease. I'm sorry that this is the way you had to find out."

"What happens now?"

"No more anti-depressants. I'm going to give you prenatal vitamins but besides that there's nothing more I can do. I'm so sorry."

A sob escaped my lips. "I'll leave you two to talk."

"I didn't know" I cried. Liam leaned over and wrapped me in his arms, "It's gonna be alright."

"I don't want our baby to be like that. Why can't he be healthy?" He grabbed my face and attempted to wipe my tears away. "You hear that? Our baby. We're gonna have a baby." I managed to smile through my tears and nod, "Yeah." "And he's going to be perfect. Just fine."

I sniffled "Okay."

End of Flashback:

"We're here." Liam shook me awake and unbuckled my seatbelt. I'm so tired.

He leads me to this very nice two story house. The door is unlocked so he just walks in.

"Just follow me."

He leads me around the house. It's fully furnished and inviting. He helps me up the stairs. Hey, don't judge me, I'm nearly seven months pregnant and struggling.

"You ready?" he asks as we stand before a room door. I cautiously nod. He opens the door and I'm in shock. It's a nice sized room with dark blue walls and superman signs everywhere, a crib, changing table and a stack of block letters in alphabetical order on the floor.

"What's all this?"

"I, um, I thought this could be the baby's room. The boys helped me paint the rooms but I wanted to make this one special for you." "Rooms?" "Y-yeah, I bought this house a while ago because I know it's kind of hard living in that small flat with Niall." "The letters?" "For if we came up with a name, we can hang it."

I turned around and hugged him. "It's perfect Li. Thank you."

"Let me show you Jamie's."

I couldn't wipe the smile from my face. Oh how I love him.

The door right across from the baby's was Jamie's and there was batman everywhere and his name painted across the walls. "Liam this is all too much." "No. No it's not. I wanted to make you comfortable and we can have the perfect house for when we're married." His cheeks were tinged and he looked so nervous. I grabbed his face between my hands and pecked his lips. "I love it. I still think it's way too much but I love it." He smiled.

"Now where's our bedroom?" I asked. "Just down the hall." He led the way and opened the door to a spacious room with an ensuite. "You know what I think?" "What?" "I think we should test out our bed." He raised his eyebrow, "Really?" I nodded, "Yeah" I said and pushed him onto the bed.

"How was your first day?" I asked Jamie as he ran up to the two of us with a smile on his face. Of course the paps had to be here but I'm not even complaining. This is Jamie's day.

"Fun!" "You make any friends?" "Yes!" he ran away to a little girl and grabbed her hand before dragging her to us. "This is Maddie." Maddie looked little and shy. "Hello Maddie" I smiled. "Hi" she whispered.

She was a precious girl with bouncy auburn curls and green eyes. "Can Maddie come for ice cream? We did good in school today." "Let's ask her parents" Liam suggested. Maddie led us to them and we introduced ourselves. Sydney, Maddie's mom, is a single mother due to loosing her husband, Mitch, in an accident. She gladly agreed to joining us.

We stopped at an ice cream parlor. "How many months are you?" Sydney asked me as we sat at a different table than the kids. "Nearly seven."  "A girl?" "No a boy." "That's great." Liam nodded.

"How did the two of you meet?" Liam answered for the two of us. "We were friends since we were about four and...I don't know, it just happened." "That's sweet." Sydney had to be in her late twenties and was very pretty. I'd say she's be perfect for Harry if he already wasn't with Anna. Yes... Anna, thanks to me introducing them.

There was a screetch from what came from Jamie. I turned my head to see Jamie with ice ream on his face and Maddie with an angered expression. I'd be mad if it wasn't so cute.

"Why did you do that Maddie?" Sydney asked her. "Noah said that batman was better than superman and so I said that wonder woman was better than them both and he said I was stupid."

Liam and I looked at each other with smiles on our faces. We knew Maddie would be around for a while. I mean...look at Liam and I.
