Careless -Complete-

You were my best friend. We did everything together. You were my first laugh, my first trouble, my first time. Then you left when I needed you most. So Liam, please tell me why you're back. I want us to be the same but how can that be? We can't because back then we were careless...and I'm a mother now.

29. Epilogue

A/N: Surprise...Read my ending authors note to find out how to read more!

"Come on Jamie!" I yelled as I bounced Logan on my leg. The boys were sat beside me on fold out chairs, Harry was barbecuing.

Jamie ran while dribbling the football (soccer) between his feet. "Go!"

He had the most determined cute little look on his face as he went for the goal. Kids were trying to steal the ball from him but he kept going.

"Go...Go! GOAL! Yes! Did you see that?!"

I giggled, "Yes, Niall I saw that."

My baby made a goal!

His teammates ruffled his overly long wavy hair and congratulated him. The other team called a time out.

Jamie ran our way and Liam scooped him and riled him up. "Good job Noah. I'm proud of you." He set him down and I opened my free arm. He came and gave me a swift hug. He tried to pull away but I held his jersey and kissed all over his face.

"Mom" he complained.

"Ok, sorry. Get out there" I sent him away with a swat to the bottom. He groaned, got a drink from his water bottle, and ran back to his group huddle.

"Are we late?" I turned to see Sydney walking towards our chair with Maddie. "No, game started about ten minutes ago." "We miss anything?" "Jamie made a goal" I smiled.

"That's good."

Maddie stood next to me and crouched down to Logan. "Hey" she smiled. Logan made a girgling noise and slapped her cheeks. I grabbed his hands, "Gentle." "It's okay Ms. Hill" she giggled.

Ms. Hill.

In the year that Logan has been in this world we've been so busy. Liam being away for band stuff and the kids around we still haven't set a date for the wedding. I want our wedding small and between our families and loved ones...not the paparrazzi . They've been everywhere...even here at Jamie's first football match. I want to wait until Liam has a long break to have the wedding but he doesn't know when he'll have that opportunity. I don't mind waiting, as long as it happens.

"Maddie your hair is longer" I smiled as I twirled a curl around my finger.

"I don't like it" she mumbled. "Why not?""The curls...they're ugly."

"I love them and you should love them too" I countered.

*cough* "Take your own advice" *cough*

I slapped Liam in the arm, "Oh hush."

"Did you know that Eden used to hate her curly hair?" Liam asked Maddie. "You have curly hair?" she asked, her face full of confusion. Of course my hair was straightened and thankfully only falling to my shoulder because I got it cut.

I nodded.

"Will you make my hair straight?"

"I'll tell you what. You come over and I make your hair nice and pretty in their curls and even wear mine."

"Yup" I smiled and kissed the side of her head.

Maddie smiled back, then went back to Logan who was on my lap.

"Say Madison" she cooed. He gurgled more and squeaked. "Mamie!"

That was surprisingly his first word...Mamie. Like Jamie but with a M. That was all Jamie's doing.

"I'm sorry Maddie, that's all he can say for now." "I wish he'd say my name and not stupid Jamie's." I laughed at her. She always gets upset over this stuff.

We were enjoying our hot dogs, me feeding Logan some of my bun, when a football came flying our way. "Watch out!" I heard and tried to cover Logan but it was too late, it came smashing into his face. I gasped and quickly spun him in lap to see his face. "Is he okay?" Zayn asked.

He screeched and his face was all red from the hit. His nose was starting to bleed and he busted his lip with his two front teeth.  "Liam" I panicked. Jamie never got cut up like this...not once.

He leaned down and gently wiped the blood from his nose. "You think it's broken?" I asked.

"We'll have to get him checked out."

The boys helped out a lot, getting him cleaned up and Sydney gave me a wet cloth to dab over his face.

Jamie's POV:

"You idiot! You hit my brother!" I yelled at my opponent.

"It was an accident...calm down

"Get some better aim and then we can talk."

"Shut up!"

I pushed him. The referee blew his whistle at us. The kid pushed me back. I swung my arm and hit him straight in the face. He tackled me to the ground. We rolled around fighting until I felt arms wrap around my waist and pull me back. I was turned around and faced with Dad with the most furious, disappointed look I've ever seen on him.

"What the hell Noah?! What's gotten into you!"

"He...he made me mad."

I was a bit frightened, he's never swore at me before.

"And that gives you the right to hit him?"

I shook my head as tears began to fall.

"Don't start crying now because you weren't crying when you thought of hitting him. Come on."

He took me by the arm and sat me down on the benches. "You're suspended for the rest of the game and the following two games says the ref. I want you to sit here so stay."

He walked away. I looked over to mom and instantly felt bad. She was walking back to the car cradling a sobbing Logan while he had that big face mask inhaler thing on his face. Mom says he can't breathe right so crying makes it harder, he needs that thing to live.

I crossed my arms over my chest and sank down.

That stupid prick hit my brother in the face and I get in trouble for it. I guess it was uncalled for. Who am I to be fighting. I'm five years old! Ugh, stupid choices.

I felt her presence before hearing her voice.

"Here" she said and passed me a fresh water bottle, sitting next to me on the bench.

"You can't be over here."

"You're welcome" she rolled her eyes.

"Yeah thanks."

"You know that was a dumb move you pulled."

"Now who am I supposed to cheer for during the next two games?" she laughed.

It made me smiled...she always made me smile.

"Thanks Maddie" I said and looked at her. "Now make yourself useful on this bench and stroke my hair" she said, laying down and putting her head on my lap. I laughed, "Alright."

"Mom I'm sorry" I said for the thousandth time. "I don't want to hear sorry. I'm disappointed really. You don't fight okay? Don't do it" she sternly spoke.

"Okay, but mom I really am sorry and I-"

"Vete! To your room!" (Vete=Go away/Leave)

I turned and quickly left upstairs to my room. I made a pitstop for Logan's room first. He was taking a nap. Babies sleep a lot.

I quietly laid down next to him. He twitched in his sleep and I stilled. He lazily brought his arm around my waist and snuggled into me. I wrapped my arm around his small body and held him.

"I always seem to get in trouble because of you."

His face twitched, "Mamie" he whined.

For a second I thought he understood me but I knew otherwise. Ever since dad bought this 'big boy' bed Logan's been getting nightmares. He always ends up in my bed.

"Somehow you're worth it. You know when mommy said she was having you..."

Eden's POV:

I laid down. I was exhausted and it was only one in the afternoon.

"Tired?" Liam asked. "Yeah. Lie down with me." Liam lied down next to me and I snuggled into him. The covers kept my cold feet warm but when Liam tangled our legs it gave me more warmth.

He sighed, "I don't know what's up with Jamie lately."

"I don't know either but I kind of understand where he's coming from."

"Eden...that doesn't make it okay."

"I know."

"It happened a couple weeks ago too. Maddie doesn't stand up for herself when some little boy yells at her so he does it for her...with fists."

My voice was quiet, in a mere whisper, "He's so used to you not being around" I croaked.

"You know it's true." A tear escaped. "You're never home and when you are he...he doesn't know what to do. Shit, I don't know what to do. I...I can't make him stop what he thinks he's doing right."

"I'm sorry."

I reached up and stroked his hair, "Don't be. I'm not gonna punish you by complaining about what you love to do. I know you love singing and being on tour with the boys, I'm just trying to tell you that we need you here too, okay?"

He nodded.

"I'm not telling you to quit what you like to do. Please understand that."

"I do."

I leaned up and pecked his lips. "I love know that."

"I love you too."

"Are you tired too or are you just lying down with me because I asked?" I pouted.

He wiped the few tears that were produced from my crying. "Only because you asked" he chuckled. I playfully slapped his chest. "Don't let me keep you in here." "I don't mind laying here and holding you...but I'm gonna need lunch soon."

I groaned, "Give me an hour."

"Turn on the baby monitor."

I sighed, and switched on the monitor, setting it on my nightstand.

"...don't need to worry, you'll grow."

Jamie's voice rang through the monitor.

"What's Jamie doing in his room?" Liam asked. "I don't know. I sent him to his own room" I groaned. I started to sit up but Liam kept me down. "Let's listen." "No, Li, that's snooping."

"We're his parents. We are aloud to snoop."

I sighed and snuggled back into him and listened to the baby monitor.

"I don't know why they painted your room superman. You obviously like batman."

"Smart boy" Liam chuckled. I nudged him.

"Dad likes batman. I guess I like batman too. Not anymore but I say I do because it seems to make him proud of me."

"Oh gosh" Liam sighed.

"He's always proud of you." His voice was filled with sorrow. My baby.

He sniffled and I knew he was beginning to cry. I sat up again but Liam stopped me again. "Wait" he said softly.

"The o-other day I saw these pictures of when you were born. He was there and happy and...he-he wasn't there when me and Lea were."

"Jamie..." I whispered, knowing he couldn't hear me.

"mamie" I heard Logan whine.

"And you don't even know what I'm saying" he sobbed. "No one listens...o-or cares. Not even dad a-and he's supposed to...he's supposed to be here."

I was shocked of what Jamie was saying. He never told me these things.

His cry hiccuped "Sometimes I think he loves you more than me."

Liam's look was hurt and I reached my hand out to soothe me but he shrugged me away. He stood from the bed left the room. "Liam wait."

I left the bed as well and followed him down the hall to see him enter Logan's bedroom.

I heard Jamie's cry. I looked to see him holding onto Logan, crying into his little body. Once he noticed us at the door he quickly sat up and tried wiping his eyes. He got out of the bed, "I'm sorry mom I'll get to my room."

"Am I in trouble?"

Liam spoke up, "How about we got downstairs" he suggested. "Okay" he whispered.

He picked him up and began to walk out of the room with Jamie in his arms. I put my hand to his shoulder to stop him.

I didn't know what to say or how to take the hurt look from his features.

I leaned up and kissed the corner of his mouth, offering him a small smile. He tried to give one back but when he couldn't her walked downstairs with Liam's face in his neck.

Liam's POV:

I felt sad and hurt that Jamie felt this way. I do love him and not any less than Logan. I know I haven't been there since the beginning but I'm trying to make up for lost time with the time the I have.

I set him on the ground in the kitchen and pulled out a chair, sitting in it backward, facing the back of the chair, my arms resting on the top of it. I watched Jamie pull out the chair and sit the same way I am, facing me. He tried to cross his arms and rest them on the same place I was but he was a little too small, his feet dangling off the edge. He laughed at himself. I smiled at him.

Where do I start?

"I didn't mean to yell at you earlier."

He shrunk in his seat.

"I was just a bit disappointed. Your mom and I both were. We're not mad."

"It felt like it" he whispered.

"Maybe I was a bit hard on you. I just...I didn't want you doing the wrong thing, understand?"

He nodded.

I reached over and ruffled his hair. "You wanna go somewhere tomorrow?" "I thought you had a signing?" "We can hold it off for a few hours" I smiled.

"You'd do that for me?"

"I'd do anything for you" I said with a serious expression.

"Where would we go?"

"Where would you like?"

"That new music place where you can listen and play music. Maddie went there last week and said it was so much fun."

I smiled at his excitement but I was let down when he frowned.

"B-but Logan is too young to go and mom...she doesn't wanna play anything."

"I meant just you and me Jamie."

"Really? Just you and me?" His brown eyes lit up at the question.

I nodded.

"I can't wait."

After talking to Jamie for a few more minutes he told be how he wanted to play guitar like Niall and piano like Louis. I was happy for him. I knew he'd be great.

Eden made us lunch and had us sit to watch a movie before having to wake up Logan.

He waddled around the house, chasing me around while Ed and Jamie were in the back garden looking up at the clouds.

It was dark in no time and I helped Eden with dinner. Eden sat Logan in his high chair while we took our seats. Not much was said throughout dinner, not that there was a need for words.

I put Jamie to bed while Eden set Logan to sleep.

After our 'jobs' we both got to our bedrooms.

We changed into night clothes which consisted of pajama pants for me and a tshirt for Ed.

I held her as we laid in bed. We were both awake but I knew she was tired. Her droopy eyes said it all.

"What did you guys talk about?" she asked.

"What did you say to him? When I got down there for lunch you guys were just fine. What did you say?"

"That I wasn't mad about what happened at his game."

"That's it?"

"And you're going to be here with Logan tomorrow for a few hours."

"Where are you going?"

"I'm taking Jamie to that new music museum thingy."

"Your signing..."

"I know but it can wait. Jamie wanted to go and I told him we could."

She smiled and stroked her hands through my hair. "How come your always the problem solver?"

"My boyish good looks?" I teased

"Boybandish good looks" she countered.

I laughed and kissed her forehead, pulling her closer to me by the waist.

"Remember when we were younger and I'd climb out of my window and sneak into your room when I'd have a bad dream?" she mumbled.

"What happened?"

"We grew up" I sighed.

"You make me seem all old" she giggled.

"You're not getting any younger Ed" I joked.

"Oh shut up I'm the same age as you and 22 isn't old."

"Do you feel it?" I asked.

"Do I feel what?"

"Do you feel...22?"

She laughed at my stupid joke. I leaned down and kissed her. Her lips were warm and soft. She moaned against me. I sent flicks of my tongue through her mouth, teasing her. She held onto me as my mouth made a trail down her jaw and neck.

"Not tonight Liam." She tried sounding firm but her wavering breath and instant grabbing said otherwise. "And why not?" I tested her. ""

"No answer? That's what I thought."

She moaned as I settled between her legs and grounded against her through our clothes.

We quickly and quietly got down to business. Her pants filling the room while my groans echoed after. Her straining to call out my name was such a turn on. When we were satisfied and tired we snuggled up and began to drift off.

"I wanna get another tattoo" Eden mumbled. "What?" "I have Lea and Jamie on my back. I wanna get Logan too." "alright." "We can get matching ones" she tiredly laughed. "We can if you want."

"I was just kidding."

"I want to."

She kissed my neck, "We'll talk more tomorrow."

"Night Ed."

"Night Liam."

Eden's POV:

Liam and I were peacefully sleeping when there was a soft knock on the door.

"Yeah?" my voice was thick from sleep.

Liam rubbed at his eyes.

The door opened and Jamie stepped in with Logan at his hand. Jamie looked tired and Logan was whiney.

I sat up, covering my chest with the blanket. Liam and I were naked!

"Liam hand me my shirt" I said as I slipped on my underwear under the covers. He gave it to me and I pulled it over my head. Liam pulled on his pajama pants. That was close.

"What's wrong?" Liam asked. I checked my phone on the nightstand and saw that it was nearly two in the morning.

"Logan came in my room and slept with me, then he wet my bed."

"Through the diaper?" I asked.

He nodded. I sighed and threw off the covers. "I'll do the sheets."

"I'll change him" Liam said. After stripping Jamie's bed and throwing the sheets in the wash I went back upstairs and saw Liam helping Logan into our bed. Jamie stood there, fidgeting with the hem of his pajama shirt.

I laid down in the bed as well.

"I'll sleep in Logan's bed" Jamie mumbled.

I grabbed at his arm, "Come here" I said and lifted him into the bed with us. Liam and I were on our sides with Jamie and Logan between us. Jamie had his back to my front and I held him closely there. Logan was snuggled up to Jamie's chest and Liam behind him, his arm around all of us.

"We have to go to sleep for tomorrow can come already" Jamie said. Liam and I chuckled.

I kissed the back of his head, "Goodnight my sweet boy" I whispered. I leaned over to Logan, "Give mommy a kiss." He giggle and puckered his lips, giving me a swift peck.

I looked at Liam and he seemed falling faster to sleep. I pecked his lips. "I love you Liam."

"I love you too Ed" he muttered.

I fell asleep thinking of my little family. Hopefully when things are all settled down and we're married we can have another, maybe a girl. No matter what she wouldn't replace Lea. My little girl is forever in my heart.

So much has changed and I love everything about it. I would be lying if I said I didn't miss my former co-workers at Nando's or filming my 'Independent diaries'. I do but I've moved on and appreciated different things. The fact that Logan seems to like me reading to him all the time or that Jamie and Maddie are the best of friends. I sometimes wonder if they'll end up like Liam and I. Only time can tell.

Now days things that I couldn't have predicted happened. How Niall and Elizabeth broke up and he recently started dating this girl Charlotte. Or how Harry and Anna are engaged and so are Eleanor and Louis. I still smiled at their expressions when I said they could be Jamie's 'late' god parents.

No matter what I'm just happy to be here with Liam and not be alone in my apartment trying hard to raise a two year old alone. He's done so much for us and I thank him for it everyday.

A familiar toon played in my dream of Liam and I walking home from our spring formal. Cake on ourselves and him carrying me on his back I slowly start to sleep, him singing me that song that will forever be ours.

"I'll look after you..."

The End.
