Maybe I'm Dreaming: An Owl City Fanfiction

Hadley has always admired Adam Young. It's always been her dream to meet him. The fact that they had the same last name had nothing to do with it. It was him and his music. When she visits Owatonna for a few weeks, she finally gets to meet him. But something is unearthed during that time--Hadley and Adam are siblings… and Adam knew of his sister all along. Both of them have the same question running through their minds. Is this a dream?

4. Chapter 3: I Desperately Need You

I almost couldn't believe it. Here she was, less than an hour after I had desperately prayed to get my sister back. I didn't have a doubt in my mind or my heart. This was her. This was my Hadley.

"You're so grown up," I breathed.

She shook her head. "This… this isn't believable. Maybe I'm dreaming…" She paused. "Oh," she muttered, blushing, "you get that. You totally get that… that's the name of your album. Oh my gosh, you're Adam Young. My brother is Adam Young."

I smiled. "I never expected this to happen. When you were born, I never would have guessed that you would end up being my biggest fan. And definitely not after you went missing. I never expected to have any fans. Here we are, though. Everything's changed. Everything."

"It really has," she muttered. There was a look in her eyes, a look that just confirmed for me that she had the faintest flashes of memories from those times so long ago. She knew this was real.

"Hadley," I said softly.

She looked up at me with tears in her eyes. "But what happened? How did I end up all the way in New Mexico in a foster home?"

I shook my head. "I don't know, Hadley. I don't know."

She hugged me, and I wrapped my arms around her as well. Stroking her hair, I started singing quietly. "I am not my own for I have been made new. Please don't let me go. I desperately need you."

She pulled back from the hug, and I immediately noticed the huge smile on her face.

"Adam," she said, "I'm home."
