Maybe I'm Dreaming: An Owl City Fanfiction

Hadley has always admired Adam Young. It's always been her dream to meet him. The fact that they had the same last name had nothing to do with it. It was him and his music. When she visits Owatonna for a few weeks, she finally gets to meet him. But something is unearthed during that time--Hadley and Adam are siblings… and Adam knew of his sister all along. Both of them have the same question running through their minds. Is this a dream?

3. Chapter 2: Coincidental Encounters

As I drove down Mineral Springs Road, I kept an eye out for Adam's house.

And saw it.

And kind of freaked out when I saw Adam Young sitting on the porch of Adam Young's house on Adam Young's street in Adam Young's hometown.

I swear, I wasn't planning on doing what I did.

My body just sort of automatically parked the car on the side of the road and got out and started walking. I couldn't turn back at that point.

So I walked up to Adam Young sitting on the porch of Adam Young's house and so on.

"Adam Young?" I didn't know why my tone was questioning. There was no doubt. This was him.

He looked up at me. "Yes…"

I smiled at him and nervously rubbed the back of my neck, holding my other hand out toward him. "Hi. I'm Hadley, erm, Young. I'm sort of a big fan."

He'd been reaching to shake my hand, but the second I mentioned my name, he was standing, my hand forgotten.

"Hadley?" He said my name quietly, questioningly. "Is Hadley Young really your name? Your birth name?"

I nodded slowly.

"You…" He shook his head. "No, you can't be… there's no way…"

I blinked. "Um… Adam?"

"You are… I just… you are."

"Adam, what on earth are you talking about?"

"Hadley, you're my sister."

And for the second time that day, my brain shut down. "W-what?"

"You're my sister. You… went missing 15 years ago from your room in our parents' house. We never saw you again. We never… we never heard from you, we never knew whether or not you were alive or where you were, but I have no doubts. You are my sister."

And it was so. It was because of my body seemingly moving on its own and my obsession with Owl City that I came to meet my older brother.

That was when my life took a turn.

And everything suddenly changed.

Normal hadn't been a major part of my life before, but it was out of the picture completely.

Within only seconds.
