3. It's Finally Time (for an accident?)

This was the longest week of my life, waiting for the weekend that could change my life forever. I get up and get ready as fast as I can, then hop into my car to pick up Jess.

"Hey," I smile, trying to hold in my excitement as Jess gets into the car.
"Hey! Ready to become famous?" She asks as she lifts her shoulder up in a mock-seductive way.
I laugh "Absolutely!" and pull out of her driveway.

We're listening to Katy Perry as I'm driving down the highway, when a car veers into my lane right in front of me. I slam on my breaks to avoid rear ending him. Luckily no one was behind me. The black car looks brand new, glistening in the sunlight as it speeds away from me, coming up on the car in front of it. Fast.

I turn off the radio as I gasp, realizing what the person in the black car is trying to do, but I can't do anything to stop it. I'm frozen in place, about to witness an accident. I close my eyes as I hear the screeching of tires, the sound of metal scraping the road, the sound of the black car speeding off to leave the car they had just hit.

I open my eyes to see that the car that had been hit was dark blue, and it was smoking in a ditch. I look over to see Jess just as shocked as me.

I decide I have to help the people in the car, what if they are hurt? I call 911 and tell them what happened, then I pull up next to the ditch and get out of the car.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Jess screams as I'm getting out.
"We have to help them," I explain. "They could be hurt."

"They could also be spies, or in a gang! What if they're really bad guys who deserve what they got?! Let the police take care of it!" Jess says between hyperventilations. She can be such a wuss.

"I guess we'll have to find out then," I smile, then begin to walk down to the car.

As I'm walking down the slope towards the bottom of the ditch, I think of how right Jess could be. Maybe I should let the police take care of it... No. I have to help them, and they've probably seen that I'm walking towards them already.

As I get closer to the car, I take a deep breath, then I pry open the driver side door, which was already loose from being rolled off the highway. And I'm shocked at what I see.
