The Non-Society Girl

Jassy - short for Joselyn - is being forced. It isn't her choice. She really does not want to be a society girl. She doesn't want to dress fancy and go to dinner parties and dance fancy and proper. She just wants to live her life like any ordinary teenager. But, she's not getting the option. So when her mother threatens to take away her internet, phone and laptop, she agrees. And gets more than just sitting in the corner with her bff when said bff leaves and she's asked to dance. By a pair of cute, identical twins. Names? Jack and Finn Harries.

4. Tired and Grumpy

The car engine died when I pulled the key out of my black chevy pickup truck and locked it as I headed to the entrance of the mall.

Now that my mom knew how to get me to do things, she was making me go to this other fancy party next week, where I would be socializing with all these fancy people in fancy and expensive clothes. So she'd spared no expense getting me a dress. I was going to pick it up and have the final fitting.

I walked into the shop and walked up to the counter, told the lady about my appointment and she told me to go on into the back, which I did.

The dress was hanging on the wall, it was a short dress this time, a red bandage mini dress.

After getting poked by a needle numerous times, I was able to leave and pick up the rest of the outfit. Which consisted of a pair of black pumps with a bow on the toe, and a faux leather crossbody purse.

I put these in my truck and headed back into the mall, more specifically, to the food court where they had my favourite food chains. I grabbed a tray and sat down at a table where I started on my food. Caesar Salad because my mom says I need to eat healthier, yeah, but she doesn't know about my junk food stash.

A body appeared in front of me and I thought for a moment that it was Maia, free from her family at last. Then I saw the short brown hair and green and brown eyes. Jack or Finn.

I looked up at them with a blank stare. "Yes?"

"Hullo." I looked back down at my food and took another fork full of salad.

"How are you?"

"Why do you care?" I asked, still tired and grumpy. The smile faded off his face.

"I-I just wanted to know, Jack said that you ran off yesterday, I was hoping to catch you again, but by the time I got outside, you were gone." He paused and looked at me with concerned eyes.

"And? I was tired of being around all those people, I didn't get home till past midnight so I'm very tired right now, and very grumpy, so if you don't mind..." I got up and dumped my food in the garbage that was behind me, placing my tray on top. He followed.

"And, I wanted to see you again. Ask why you gave me your bracelet."

"I don't know why. So, could I have it back?"

"I don't have it. Well, right now."

"Fantastic. Keep it then."

"No, why would I keep it?"

"Finn, look, you seem like a nice guy, so does your brother, but I have a lot to do in the next year, and most likely after that, so I would appreciate it if you and your brother just returned the bracelets and moved on."

"Was that not understandable? Or did I just speak in a different language? Return the bracelets and move on." I opened the door to my car and looked back at him.

"I'll see you soon." He walked away and I grit my teeth and climbed in, slamming the door shut. This freaking thing - whatever it was - needed to stop. I don't even know these people, one dance and all of a sudden I'm like a target for them.
