3. Talking To A Bloodsucker

"Hey! Want to go to Forks with me?" I hear Jake say from my window sil.

"Sure, why?" I ask.

"To talk to someone," he says walking further into my room.

"Who?" I ask grabbing a pair of skinny jeans and a black tee shirt. I pull my shorts off and put the jeans on.

"One of the Cullen's," he says sitting down in my desk chair.

I pull the shirt over my head and say, "From that bloodsucker family that Sam was telling me about?" I grab my combat boots and a pair of socks.

"Move," I say and he gets up and sits on my bed.

"Yeah, Sam asked me if I could go talk to one of them," he says, "I don't feel like going alone."

I finish tying my boot, and say, "I'll go with you, on one condition."

"What?" he says abruptly standing up.

"We don't take the Rabbit," I say pulling my hair out of the pony tail that it was in.

"Wasn't planning to," Jake says as he opens my door and heads down stairs. I follow.

"How come you never use a door, unless you want food?" I ask sitting on a bar stool.

"Because, I don't feel like it," he says as a matter of factly. I laugh.

My mom walks in and says, "Hey you two!"

"Hi Ms. Clearwater," Jake says politely. I shove him, and he shoots me a weird face.

"Hi mom, Jake and I have to go into Forks for Sam, you going to be okay here while I'm gone?" I ask getting up and grabbing a water bottle out of the fridge.

"Of course! I might go over to Sue's later though," she says leaning against the counter.

"Oh, why?" I ask sitting back down next to Jake.

Jake leans over and whispers in my ear, "We need to go soon." I nod.

"Just going over for lunch and to talk. I haven't seen her all week," she says.

I get up and grab a Sharpie to write my name on my bottle, and say, "Well, we have to get going. See you later mom." I give her a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"Okay, be careful!" I hear her yell to us as we get on Jake's bike.

"We always are!" Jake yells back smiling. I laugh. Jake kicks it to life, and we take off.

In Forks

He parks in front of Forks High School.

"Why are we here?" I ask when the engine dies.

"To talk to the bloodsucker," he says. Jake climbs off and leans against his bike. I follow suit.

"Bloodsuckers go to public school?" I scoff as a few cars come rolling in.

"I guess so, I can't imagine going to this jail. I would much rather be able to run around in the woods once I'm done studying then have to be here for seven hours!" Jake says, "Here they come." A Volvo pulls into the parking lot as a bunch of students walk up the stairs to the doors.

"Hey," a girl with dark hair says to Jake.

"Charlie said you left town," Jake says to her with a straight face.

"Yeah, to visit my mom, why?" she says.

"He's checking to see if you're still human," the bloodsucker says.

"Look, we're here to warn you. If your kind come on our land again," Jake says taking a step forward.

"Wait what?" the girl asks.

"You didn't tell her?" Jake asks.

"Just leave it alone Jacob," the bloodsucker says. I know why we're here now.

"Tell me what?" the girl asks.

"Emmett and Paul had a misunderstanding. It's nothing to worry about," the bloodsucker says to her. I scoff.

"And who the hell are you?" the girl asks me.

"Stacie Clearwater. Alpha female," I say.

"Listen to you, did you lie to get her out of town too?" Jake asks obviously losing his temper a bit.

"Just leave, now," the bloodsucker says to him. His breaths out heavily. I pull him aside.

"Jake, calm down. Sam will kill both of us if you phase in front of a bunch of humans," I say keeping my grip on his arm. He nods calming down a bit. We walk back over to the bloodsucker and the girl.

"She has a right to know," Jake says, "She is the one the redhead wants. Even though Stacie almost took her out last night."

"Victoria?" the girl says obviously stunned, "Alice's vision."

"I was trying to protect you," the bloodsucker says to her.

"By lying to me," she says, "Okay, we're going to talk about this, but you, why haven't you called me back?"

"I had nothing to say," Jake says turning around and heading toward his bike.

"Well I have tons," she says taking a step toward him. I step out in front of Jake protectively.

"Bella," the bloodsucker says.

"Edward you have to trust me," the girl named Bella says.

"I do trust you, it's him I don't trust," Edward says. She turns around and walks toward Jake.

"How are you getting home?" Jake asks me as he hands her a helmet.

"I'll run, I can also see what's up with the border situation too," I say jogging off toward the forest. When I'm sure that I'm far enough in that no one can see me, I pull my clothes off, and strap them on my leg. I phase and take off.

Me: Hey, who's on patrol?

Embry: Quill and I.

Me: Okay, how's the borders?

Embry: Haven't seen anything yet. Why are you phased? Aren't you suppose to be in Forks with Jake?

Me: I'm running home. Jake's bringing vampire girl back with him.

Quill: I'll be sure to be there when he gets home. You might as well head to Emily's place, head she's making chicken for lunch.

Me: I was headed there anyways. I'm starved!

Quill: You exaggerate to much.

Me: I didn't eat breakfast. I slept late.

Embry: That's why you weren't there this morning. I was wondering why.

Me: I'm almost to Em's, see you two in a bit!

I phase back, and put my clothes on, and head in the door.

"Hey, why weren't you at breakfast this morning?" Emily asked when I walk in the door.

"Slept late. It was a long night last night," I say sitting down at the table.

"I guess, Sam told me about your run in with the red head," Emily says.

"We're here! Is lunch ready?!" I hear Embry yell as him and Quill walk in the door.

"Just finished," Emily says bringing a huge plate of chicken in, "Quick, get your food before I yell to the others." We quickly fill our plates with chicken and start eating when Emily yells to whoever else is in the house that lunch is ready. I eat everything and more.

"Jeeze! Even Jake can't eat that much!" Quill says in my direction.

"I told you that I didn't have breakfast and that I was starved!" I say in between bites. When I'm done eating, I put my plate in the sink, and grab a cup from the cabinet and fill it with water from the tap. I drink it in like two seconds flat, and put it in the sink too.

I hear a motor cut off outside, and I knew Jake was back. We all run outside. I was first to get out the door. I jump down the stairs and give Jake a hug.

"Hey look who's back," Embry says.

"Quill you too?" she says.

"Yup, finally made the pack," he says. Paul puts and arm around me, but I grab it and twist so it is bending backwards.

"Get off Paul!" I say and let go of his arm and stand by Jake who puts his arm around my shoulders.

"I'm glad you're here Bella, maybe we can get a break from Jake's obsessive inner monologue," Embry says. Jake rolls his eyes.

"I wish Bella would call," Paul says hitting his arm.

"I wish Bella wouldn't call," Jared says taking a bit out of the chicken leg he was holding.

"Maybe I should call Bella!" Embry says.

"Maybe I should call Bella and hang up," Quill says.

"Alright you can shut up now," Jake says. Leah walks out of the house, and stops where we are.

"Bella this is Leah Clearwater, Harry's daughter," Jake says the smile on his face dropping.

"Hey," Bella says to her, "I'm really sorry about your father."

"If you're here to torture Jake some more, feel free to leave," Leah says walking off.

"Fun isn't she," Jake says with a smirk.

"And I still wonder how I'm her cousin!" I say looping my arm around Jake's back.

"Bella!" Emily says as she walks out of the house with Sam, "I was wondering when we would see your face around here again."

"Sam we good?" Jake asks him.

"We're good, she won't be getting through our line anytime soon," he says. As if on cue, Paul, Jared, Embry and Quill all head inside. Jake, Bella and I head back to his house.

Jake was pushing his bike into the garage when Bella asked, "So when did Leah join the pack?"

"Around when her dad died, her brother Seth also phased, he's only fifteen. One of the youngest we've had, "Jake said.

"Sam keeps him home studying, but he's chomping up a bit, I wish it was Leah that would stay home," I say to her. Jake laughs indicating that he agrees.

"Come on, don't be such a guy," Bella says to him.

"No, it's not a chick thing, it's a-uh triangle thing," Jake says to her.

"We all have to live the Leah, Sam, Emily pain fest," I say, "And some more than others." Jake smiles and Bella gives me a questioning look.

"Wolf telepathy, remember?" Jake says staring off into the distance.
