15. More Information

Albus, Ally, and Eric hid the book inside the Closet of Presents. They hid it so that only they could find the book.

But Albus still had his History of Magic essay to finish...

He went to Rose and said, "Hey Rose, can I borrow your awesome, fascinating, and cool History of Magic Essay?"

Rose rolled her eyes.

"Seriously, Albus?"

Then she handed him her essay.

Albus went to Ally and asked, "Hey Ally, do you know a copying spell?"

Ally said, "Oooh, yes! Dad invented that one two months ago!."

Then she said, "First, write your alphabet, periods, and other punctuation marks. Then give it to me."

Albus quickly wrote them down and said, "What next?"

Ally said, "Since it can't be the same, give me a sentence that you will write about something and what Rose would write for that same subject."

Albus did them as Ally told him to.

Ally continued, "Then, you have to write the words that you write a lot."

Albus did it, too.

Ally said, "Now, give me Rose's essay."

He handed it to her.

She pulled out her wand and said, "Remumbulus Copicinato!"

In one second, a new parchment appeared.

Albus read it. It was basically what Rose was writing and it was in Albus's way of writing.

He smiled.

"It's awesome... But do I have to do all these things to copy one thing?"

Ally shook her head.

"No, no! The spell remembers it. Watch!'

She took out a random book and ripped off a page.

Then she said, "Remumbulus.... Albus Severus Potter... Copicinato!"

A parchment appeared suddenly.

She said, "Remumbulus is the spell that remembers all these things and Copicinato is copying."

Albus said, "You're a genius..."

Rose stared jealously at her cousin.

She said, "Albus, I'm the one who gave you my essay!"

Albus said, "You know that you're a genius... Besides, Ally is a bit better than you in spells, charms, and curses..."

Rose took her essay and she walked away, trying to act naturally. Albus watched her long red hair bouncing behind her. He felt bad because he knew that Rose hated when people told her that she wasn't good at such things at someone. But Albus was starting to feel angry. Why does Rose Weasley think that she's so perfect?

After all their classes ended, Albus, Ally, and Eric ran to the Closet of Presents.

Albus didn't say to hi to Rose as he ran past his other cousins. But Rose seemed to be ignoring him, too.

They quickly got the book out.

Albus opened to the next page. The rest of the chapter was about how his mother had to keep switching jobs.

Albus, Ally, and Eric opened the book to the next chapter. This is what it said:

Chap.2. No Reason to be Scared

My mother felt very proud of my father until I turned ten. She told everyone that my name is Kyle Riddle and that I should be proud. I did feel proud. I did things that I didn't want to do when my mother constantly reminded that my father would come any day. I felt excited when my mother said, "Kyle, your father would be so pleased about you!"

I wasn't so sure. So I practiced and practiced spells that I didn't want to study, too. My mother awarded me with little treats. Treats that she could afford...

After ten long years, my father finally came, like my mother told me. But the problem was, he wasn't so great.

It was a bright and shinny day when my father came. I was ten years old. In six months, I was going to turn eleven.

It was Sunday, the only day that my mother didn't work. I was showing her the spell that I've been practicing. I always borrowed her wand or another person from the village's wand. I didn't have many opportunities to practice, but, if I had a opportunity, I didn't waste it.

It was about lunchtime. Then there was a knock on the door. Smiling, never imagining what might happen, I opened the door.

I saw a pale faced man. He looked a little like me, but, he looked more evil. I could see his hazel eyes changing into red. I could see his pale face turning paler. His lips were becoming more paler, too.

He said in a hissing tone, "You must be Kyle... Where is Jane?"

I said, a little afraid, "Do you mean Jane Lewis?"

He nodded. "Your mother... Jane Lewis..."

I said a thing that changed everything. Something that my mother, other people told me not to do for years...

"She's inside! Wanna come in?"

My mother always told me that I shouldn't tell strangers anything... But I broke it.

The man said, "All right... That would make things easier."

He came in. When the man came into the room that my mother was in, I could see the terror in her face.

She said, "To-m-m... Is that y-y-o-u...?"

The man nodded.

I couldn't believe it. My father had came. But he wasn't as my mother told me he was.

My mother said, "Tom... What happened to you? You're not like yourself..."

The man Tom went closer to my mother.

He said, "But you haven't changed a bit, Jane... Your golden hair, your green eyes, rosy cheeks... But you look a little tired, my dear..."

The man Tom touched my mother's cheeks.

My mother made the man Tom take his hands away from her. But I could see her smiling. How cowardly was my mother, I realized. Did she seriously think that the man Tom was a proper man for her? Perhaps I was wrong about her... I never knew what kind of person my mother was, to be truthful...

My mother turned to me.

"Don't mistake me, Kyle. Tom used to look exactly like you... I don't know what happened... He used to be very polite and nice... Please don't think I'm a coward, Kyle... You know me..."

I said, "I don't know, mom... I most certainly think I was mistaken about you.."

The man Tom ignored me and turned to my mother, once more.

"Jane... I'm going to be the most powerful wizard ever seen... Join me, Jane... Just do... You'll be rewarded... Muggle-borns shouldn't exist in the wizarding world... There should be only Slytherins in Hogwarts... I'm going to make the changes... I'm going to have a name that everyone would fear..."

My mother looked terrified.

"Tom! My father and mother are muggle-borns... It's very rare, but people call it half-muggle-borns... Do you care about me? And you know that I was sorted into Gryffindor! I can't go through this evil stuff!"

The man Tom pulled out his wand.

He said, "That's the last thing you're gonna say?"

My mother nodded.

He made an evil smile.

My mother was shaking.

She turned to me and said, "Kyle... Run!! Run! Take my wand and run! You know what to do! Run! Save yourself! But if your father ever does become a Dark Wizard, it's no reason to be scared! Just don't tell anyone your last name! Just say it's Lewis!"

The man Tom raised his wand highly.

He shouted, "AVADA KEDAVRA!"

The last thing my mother said before the curse hit her was "I love you Kyle!"

 Albus closed the book.

Eric said, "That was a long chapter..."

Ally had tears in her eyes.

"It's so sad... This Kyle Riddle really looks like a nice person... His mother does, too... But it was Voldemort's fault that Jane Lewis's live was wasted.... It's so sad..."

Albus said, "But what my question is, how did Kyle Riddle survive? Do you think that this ten-year-old boy would be able to take his mother's wand quicker than Voldemort? Do you think that this boy could win a duel and protect himself? I don't think that it would be possible for most people to even get out of the room..."

Eric said, "I thought that this book was going to be full of Dark Magic, and other evil things. But this Kyle Riddle had a hard life..."
