Summer Love

There was a time when Doncaster was a calm, quiet town. When nothing too exciting happened, on Sundays women wore dresses and men wore suits, kids played in the green lawns, and teens were as close to behaved as they'll ever be.
Louis Tomlinson remembers this time clearer than anything else, one 2009 summer over all. Louis had dated before, maybe even claimed that he found "the one," that was until he met Elizabeth Clarke. She was probably the last person he ever imagined to fall for, but somehow the pieces fell into place. Elizabeth taught him everything he never learned, the pain and prize of being in love.

8. Ch 7

Her house was as big and confusing as before, the only difference was that now it was in daytime. I felt my jaw open as Elizabeth opened the front door. Last time I went straight to the study which was directly to the right when you take a few steps into the front hall.

"Intense..." I whispered in awe as she gave me a full tour. The house was massive in simplest terms.

We finally went to the big parlor and got some snacks and took a seat in some bar stools.

"So... Bucket list still on your mind?" I asked with a smirk.

Elizabeth was somewhat upset by this, she just shrugged.

"What do you want to do today?" I asked a new question, changing subject.

"Oh I dunno... Movies? Cooking? Something fun." She smiled, leaning into me on the couch. I glanced down at her and my heart stopped, it hit me. I loved her. Without meaning to I had grown so attached so fast to her, and now I was in love with her.

"Have you ever ridden a horse?" Elizabeth asked me a while later when we were settled and watching TV together.

"Yes... But I can't say I'm very good." I laughed, looking at her shinning face that was tucked under my arm and cuddled into my chest.

"Do you want to go ride? Please! For me!" She begged, now sitting up and staring at me.

I scratched behind my neck and acted like I wasn't sure what to say. But then I smiled at her and nodded, pulling her into my arms and kissing her forehead. Elizabeth tensed and pulled away, nervously getting up and leading us outside.

In moments her stiff attitude was gone and she was back to sweet, funny Lizzy.

"Hey, Lou?" She asked me after explaining how to saddle and ride a horse correctly.

"Yeah?" I answered, clutching the reigns desperately.

"Nothing... I was just in the mood to hear your voice." She sighed, not saying whatever she wanted to.

I laughed and rode on, following her into some pasture or something. It was fun with these horses... It surprised me how much I enjoyed riding behind her in the late afternoon just listening to her babble about random things and hear her laugh... my favorite sound.

"Do your friends know your here?" Elizabeth asked right after she told me about her first pet, a dog that spent most of his time chasing his own tail.

"I don't know... if they do then they should be jealous." I flirted, checking her face for any reaction. I was pleased to see her smile and blush lightly. She turned and I looked away, disappointed I had been caught staring.

"Lou... I..." There she went again, about to tell me something.

"Yeah, Lizzy?" I chuckled, waiting to see if she would actually tell me what she wanted to say.

"I was wondering if you were ready for the performance?" She backed out again.

But this gave me a heart attack. Crap. Performance? That would be tomorrow?

"I'm guessing that's a no?" She giggled, taking in my terrified expression.

"I-I forgot." I choked out.

"No worries, we can work on that now." Elizabeth promised, getting her horse to stop by a tree and hopping off. With her help, I was able to do the same.

"Ok, sing after me." Elizabeth said, giving me a warning smile of concern.

"Wait wait wait. What's the song?" I demanded. Elizabeth rolled her eyes and said some snazzy musical number. I shook my head. We both knew that it wasn't going to be good.

"Well then, Louis Tomlinson, what song do you think we should do?" She laughed in a sassy way.

I shrugged and took a seat in the grass, staring up at the clouds. I closed my eyes and I thought about everything and anything. I was thinking about my sisters and opened my mouth to tell Elizabeth a story about them.

"You seem to be close with your sisters." She giggled.

"Yeah, I like 'em. They forced me to take them out to the store so they could buy the latest High School Musical movie." I rolled my eyes with a chuckle.

Elizabeth was about to say some comment (most likely sarcastic), but I cut her off with a gasp of ideas.

"We can do one of those songs! From High School Musical 3!"

Elizabeth burst into laughter and shook her head.

"We can't just change the song!" She protested when I insisted.

"Yes we can!" I smirked.

We stared at each other for a few minutes before she caved.

"Fine." She glared at me with a small smile forming.

Elizabeth and I studied the song list for hours before choosing one that we liked.

"I actually am excited to do this one." Elizabeth laughed.

I smirked and played it off that I didn't care, but truth was... I was just as excited.

Ok, so we didn't choose one from High School Musical 3... instead we went with a song from High School Musical 2 called Everyday. I had to begin the duet, but somehow I was comfortable just singing with her. The lyrics were all printed up and we were reading off of them with the music playing in the background.

"You ready to actually sing?" Elizabeth asked after we both had the music stuck in our heads.

"Uh, sure." I nodded, now a bit nervous to sing in front of her.

I coughed and then began:

Once in a life time,

Means there's no second chance.

So I believe that you and me,

Should grab it while we can...

Elizabeth took over in a voice that left me breathless:

Make it last forever,

And never give it back.

It's our turn and I'm loving where we're at.

Together we joined and sang:

Because this moment's all we have.

We took turns singing our parts, completing the song with ease.

Everyday, of our lives,

Wanna find you there wanna hold on tight.

Gonna run,

While we're young,

And keep the faith!

From right now,

Gonna use our voices and scream out loud
Take my hand;
Together we
Will celebrate,
Oh, ev'ryday. They say that you should follow
And chase down what you dream,
But if you get lost and lose yourself
What does is really mean?
No matter where we're going,
It starts from where we are.
There's more to life when we listen to our hearts
And because of you, I've got the strength to start
Yeah, yeah, yeah!
Of our lives,
Wanna find you there, wanna hold on tight
Gonna run
While we're young
And keep the faith.
From right now,
Gonna use our voices and scream out lou
Take my hand;
Together we
Will celebrate,
Oh, ev'ryday
We're taking it back,
We're doing it here
It's better like that,
And stronger now
Than ever!
We're not gonna lose.
'Cause we get to choose.
That's how it's gonna be!
Of our lives,
Wanna find you there, wanna hold on tight.
Gonna run
While we're young
And keep the faith
Keep the faith!
Of our lives,
Wanna find you there, wanna hold on tight.
Gonna run
While we're young
And keep the faith
From right now,
Gonna use our voices and scream out loud
Take my hand;
Together we
Will celebrate,
Live ev'ry day!
Love ev'ryday!
Live ev'ryday!
Love ev'ryday!

I stopped once the song was over and just stared at her. She looked as if there were tears glistening in her eyes. In a flash she blinked and they were gone, she was facing me again.

"That was alright." She decided. Then she smirked and added on, "I didn't know you could sing."

I laughed and shrugged, "Neither did I."
