3. The Winchesters

“A Mai doesn’t hunt anything except for its next meal.” The shorter one said.

“Please! I swear, we’re just here because of the drowning! We don’t have any weapons on us, swear!” I pleaded. The men exchanged looks, then they frisked us. I guess the shorter one gave Jessica a look because I heard her scoff.

“They’re clean.” The shorter one spoke to the taller one behind me and they let go of us.

“Now, why the hell is a Mai hunting?” The shorter one spoke again.

“Why don’t you tell us why you broke into our motel room and tried to slit our throats??” I crossed my arms.

“When you see a monster you follow it. Your turn.” He gave us a quick cheeky smile.

“It’s a long story, maybe take me and her out for a drink sometime and we’ll explain. In the mean time, who the hell are you guys??” I looked from the taller to the shorter guy.

“Uhm.” The taller one looked at the shorter one. “I’m Sam and this is Dean.” Sam said.

“Your turn.” Dean said.

“I’m Marilyn and that’s Jessica.” I nodded over to Jessica. It was weird because when I said Jessica, Sam tensed up.

“Well, great introduction, now I think we have this case under control. You ladies can go.” He gave us a quick fake smile and turned to Sam.

“Who died and made you king?” I crossed my arms again.

“Nobody, I just am.” Dean smirked and I rolled my eyes at him.

“Wait, Sam and Dean Winchester?” Jessica furrowed her eyebrows and looked at them.

“Yeah, how’d you know that?” Sam glanced over at Dean.

“I really don’t remember, I just know.”  Jessica looked confused, but so did all of us.

“Well, great meeting you, but we need to work a case.” Dean started heading for the door. “C’mon Sammy.”

“Dean!” Sam yelled, but Dean closed the door behind him. “I’m sorry; maybe if we run into each other again we can talk more… Nice to meet you, uh?” He gave me a confused look.

“Marilyn.” I rolled my eyes.

“Marilyn.” He nodded his head. “And you, uh, Jessica.” He tensed up a bit, but then headed out the door.

“We should go.” Jessica turned around and went to her bag.

“You’re just going to let them win?” I was a little irritated.

“No, but they do have this under control and that whole thing about their last name freaked me out. I honestly don’t know how I knew that, it’s like a faded memory, but I can’t grasp it.” She shook her head, as if it would come back to her.

“Maybe we should stop by my Aunt Ellen’s house. She might know something. She usually does.” I sat down at the edge of my bed. “Let’s wait until the morning though; maybe we can go grab a bite to eat first.”

After we stopped at a nearby diner, we got to Ellen’s around closing time at the bar.

“Marilyn!!” Jo ran over to me and gave me a bear hug. “How ya been?” She let go of me and her Ellen took her turn hugging me.

“I’ve been good, I guess you can say.” I smiled at them.

“Good, how’s your mom and dad?” She took a glance at Jessica, but focused back on me.

“Mom is good and dad…” I paused. “He’s uhh-“I felt myself start to tear up, but I shook it off.

“Oh no, c’mon, you girls look like you need a drink.” She put her arm around my shoulder and led us to the bar. Jess, Jo, and I sat down, while Ellen made us some drinks. “She old enough to drink?” Ellen nodded over in Jessica’s direction.

“She’s as old as Jo.” I told her.

“That’s a no.” She gave no facial expression and passed me a beer.

“So, who’s your new friend?” Jo glanced over at Jess.

“She’s my new partner.” I glanced over at her, she didn’t seem too comfortable.

“Why you partnering up with a Mai?” Ellen asked as she was wiping off glasses.

“If it wasn’t for her, I’d be as dead as my father.” I took a sip of my beer. “Besides, she was a hunter before some asshole Pride leader turned her.” I looked up at Ellen, she seemed to understand.

“So, what’s your last name Jessica?” Ellen walked over to Jessica and leaned on the bar.

“Morrison.” She told Ellen.

“Jessica Morrison.” Ellen repeated back to herself, trying to analyze the name. “Who are your folks?”

“Honestly, I don’t remember. I remember their faces, but their names are gone.” She paused for a moment and thought real hard.

“Jessica Morrison…” Ellen quietly repeated back to herself. “You’re not Bobby’s Jessica Morrison?” She gave her a quizzical look.

“Who?” Jess furrowed her eyebrows.

“Bobby Singer, he used to watch a Jessica and a little Mathew when their parents were away.” She looked at her, half in thought.

“You mean my little brother Mathew?” Jessica’s face was pure confusion.

“Yeah! And then a few years back you disappeared, must’ve forgotten him.” Ellen pulled up a chair next to Jessica. “Yeah, Bobby watched you and your little brother a lot, hell you guys were like his kids. You guys and those Winchester boys.” She smiled at the thought.

“Wait, Sam and Dean Winchester?” I spoke up.

“Yeah, Bobby loved those boys. How do you know them?” Ellen looked at me.

“They tried to slit our throats back in Wisconsin.” I half yelled.

“Huh? Last I heard of them, Dean was hunting with John and Sam was in college.” Ellen furrowed her eyebrows.

“Well not anymore, they were hunting together and basically told us to get the hell out of dodge.” I stood up and leaned on the pillar a little ways off behind my chair.

“That’s not good.” Ellen paused and glanced over at Jo. “Well girls, I think you need to go and visit Bobby.” Ellen stood up and straightened her clothes. “Well, at least this one does.” She put a hand on Jessica’s shoulder. “You girls got a place to stay tonight?” She glanced between Jessica and me.

“Yeah, we’re gonna go check into the motel in town.” I stood up and gulped the last of my beer down.

“Alright, you girls be careful.” Ellen smiled and gave me another hug.

“Bye Marilyn.” Jo gave me a hug and smiled at Jessica.

“Talk to you real soon.” Ellen smiled and waved as we exited the bar.
