6. Chapter 6

On her arrival back to the fourth year tent, CeCe was greeted by the rest of her school with a massive round of applause. “Three cheers for CeCe!” Louise and Adella shouted together. Then the rest of the school started shouting “Hip hip hooray!” Then Professor Butler came over and raised CeCe’s arm (the one with the egg in it).
Then everyone started to chant, “Open it! Open it!” Finally CeCe gave in and unhooked the latch that held the egg closed. Suddenly there was an almighty screech. Everyone covered their ears in horror. Then CeCe swiftly closed the egg again. All of the girls took a sigh of relief.

The next few weeks were tricky. As well as trying to find out the clue from the egg, the Yule Ball was coming up and CeCe didn't have a partner. But on the upside, she and Adella had been getting more and more friendly with Rose and Albus. The four of them were best friends now. But the problem was every time CeCe saw or was with Albus she couldn't help but blush a little. Was Adella right? Was she really falling for Albus Potter? He was quiet and not very confident but loyal and friendly. Just what CeCe liked about him.
“Have you figured out the clue yet?” Rose asked CeCe on a cold mid December afternoon.
“No,” CeCe sighed “Not yet.”
“I think I saw James going into the Prefects’ bathroom the other day,” Albus piped up “Maybe it’s got something to do with water?”
“Good idea.” Adella squealed.
“OK,” Albus said to CeCe “I’ll quickly tell you the password.” Then he leaned towards CeCe’s ear and whispered “Pine-fresh.”
CeCe nodded to let him know that she understood. So when she next needed a bath, Rose led her to the Prefect’s bathroom. Once she had thanked Rose and Rose had walked off, CeCe said the password and stepped inside. The bathroom was bigger than what she was use to.
So once she got use to her surroundings, CeCe pointed her wand at the taps, which caused them to start filling up the swimming pool sized bath. After it had filled up, CeCe stripped naked and quickly hopped into the warm water. Then she heard someone crying. “Hello?” she called. After a few minutes, a ghost girl flew over to the bath.
“Who are you?” the girl asked, looking very upset.
“My name is CeCe. What’s yours?” CeCe asked gently, not to upset the girl even more. “Myrtle,” the girl wept “Moaning Myrtle.”
“Why are you upset, Myrtle?” CeCe asked softly.
“It’s really lonely in here,” Myrtle croaked “But even if anyone did come in they won’t talk to me.”
“Well you can talk to me?” CeCe smiled.
Then Myrtle smiled a little. She glanced at the egg sitting on the side of the bath. “I saw that Potter boy put it in the water,” Myrtle said “I don’t know what it did but he wrote it down afterwards.” CeCe thought for a minute, grabbed the egg, took a deep breath and stuck her head under the water. Once under she opened the egg. But instead of screeching, she heard beautiful singing:

Come and seek us where our voices sound,
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while you ponder this,
We've taken something you’ll sorely miss,

An hour long you’ll have to look,
To recover what we took,
An hour’s gone, the prospect’s black,
Too late, it’s gone, it won’t come back.

CeCe lifted her head up out of the water once the song had finished. “What happened?” Myrtle asked.
“Instead of screeching,” CeCe gasped trying to catch her breathe, “There was singing.” After she washed herself and stuff, CeCe climbed out of the bath, dried herself off and got dressed. Then she said good-bye and thank you to Myrtle and left the bathroom.
