2. Chapter 2

The next morning CeCe on time woke up as usual. She went into the bathroom washed her face, brushed her teeth and went back into the dormitory to get dressed into her uniform based on the colours of the  Isle of Wight flag.

Before she when down to breakfast, CeCe went to check on Adella, who was still asleep as usual. Adella normally came down late after a long night of stretching her wings. After checking on her friend, CeCe picked up a blue envelope from her bedside table and took it down stair with her.

Once she got down stairs, CeCe could see a sea of girls in white shirts, blue and white striped ties, black jumpers, and blue, black and white plaid skirts. Taking a deep breath she walked up to the fifth year table where three best were sitting.

“Hi, Aria.” CeCe said anxiously to one of them “Happy birthday.” She handed the one known as Aria the blue envelope. Aria opened it and read the card inside. “Thanks, CeCe.” She said with a smiled. CeCe smiled back as she walked over to the fourth year table.

After about fifteen minutes of sitting alone Adella came down and sat opposite her friend. “Sleep well?” CeCe asked with a mouthful of sausage and egg.

“Kind of,” Adella said stretching her arms “ I ate a vole last night and its tail got stuck in my beak.”

“Charming.” CeCe said in disgust.

“Plus Aria was outside last night.” Adella continued, “She caught a massive magpie and let me share.”

“It’s nice to know Aria likes to share her food.” CeCe said trying not to vomit.

Aria Kraft was CeCe’s cousin. Her mother and CeCe’s father were brother and sister. She was another person CeCe knew who was an Animagus because Aria could turn into a midget cat.

Then the bell rang for first lesson. “What do we have now?” CeCe asked her friend.

“Astronomy.” Adella moaned as the two of them mad their way to the Astronomy tower.

After a long morning of lessons, the time had finally arrived to get ready for the flight to Hogwarts. CeCe and Adella had their bags sorted out early, so they were standing around talking. Then CeCe saw a third year having trouble with her luggage.

“Do you need any help?” CeCe asked her.

“Thank you.” The girl said her hair going from strawberry blonde to bubblegum pink “I’m Louise Pamelason.”

“CeCe Chambers.” CeCe smiled “You’re a Metamorfagus?”

“Yeah,” Louise said carrying her cat box while CeCe carried her trunk “My hair turns pink when I’m relieved or happy.”

The girls talked for a bit while Professor Edwards cast a charm on Louise’s bags so that they’ll follow her broom when she flies. “I’ve got to get back to my friend.” CeCe told Louise “Come by and talk to us sometime.”

“Sure.” Louise grinned as CeCe walked back to her broom, which was by Adella’s. “Who was that?” Adella asked.

“Just a third year who needed help with her luggage.” CeCe shrugged.

After a few minutes of talking, Professor Butler made an announcement. “Girls.” She began “I have chosen volunteers to have a first year share her broom. Stella Webb will share with Paige Collins. Ivy Phillips will share with Alexis Booth. Amy Campbell will share with Daisy Walker. Prudence Harper will share with Erin Thompson…” As Professor Butler continued to read out names little girls from first year went to join their assigned broom. Even Ava Morris, a girl in CeCe’s year, was assigned a first year.

Once the assigning was over the girls were ordered to mount their brooms. Then Professor Butler kicked off of the ground followed by the seventh years, then the sixth years, then the fifth years, then the fourth years, then the third years and then finally the second years. CeCe was fascinated by the view. She had never flown outside of the school walls before.

Adella flew beside her as they followed the people in front over the sea. The cold sea breeze hit CeCe like an ice dragon breathing pure ice. When she looked down she could see mechanical boats sailing to and from the island. Adella explained to her they were called ferries and they transport muggles to and from the island. CeCe thought this was amazing, as she was a pure blood witch she didn’t know much about muggle stuff. That’s probably why she chose to take Muggle Studies for her OWL’s.

Once they had landed, everyone was surprised at how big Hogwarts was. Shanklin Witch was just an old manor house but Hogwarts was a massive castle.

As CeCe dismounted her broom, Professor Butler told them to all to make two straight lines. The students did as they were asked and stood in two lines side by side. Then they were lead into the castle and to a pair of large oak doors.

“Now girls,” Professor Butler told them “As we walk into the Great Hall we will sing the school anthem. So before we go in tidy up your uniform. You’re representing the school.” Everyone sighed as they waited.

Then the oak doors and the girl started walking forward while singing:

We are the Shanklin witches,

From a tiny island off the coast,

We may be small but our hearts are large,

But we do not like to boast,

From our tiny isle we flew,

Even if the cold winds blew,

We may not be cunning,

But we have strength, chivalry and courage,

With skill and excellence,

We do our best to please our headmistress.

Once then song finished Professor Butler led them to the side of the room as the Hogwarts headmistress said, “Now I’m pleased to welcome Professor Ethel Butler to the podium.” There was a round of applause as Professor Butler took to the podium.

“Thank you, Professor McGonagall. It’s a pleasure to be here for the first time in Shanklin Witch Academy history. I’m looking forward to the revealing of the champions, to find out who will become the first Shanklin witch to compete in the Triwizard Tournament.” Then there was another round of applause as Professor McGonagall came back to the podium.

“Now that we’ve met Durmstrang Institute and Shanklin Witch Academy,” she continued, “We shall bring in the Goblet of Fire.” Then a couple of Hogwarts teachers, one of them CeCe recognised as Professor Neville Longbottom, a hero from the battle of Hogwarts, brought in a wooden chest encrusted with jewel of different colours.

Professor McGonagall taped the chest with her wand and it revealed a large, roughly hewn cup filled to the brim with dancing blue flames. “Now,” Professor McGonagall “All three head teachers, including myself, will put the names of students ages fourteen the seventeen into the Goblet.”

As she said that CeCe and Adella watched Professor Butler and Durmstrang headmaster, Professor Herzog, went up to the Goblet and dropped in the names of every student age fourteen to seventeen. This made CeCe shiver knowing her name, among others, was in there. “Just to let you all know,” Professor McGonagall, said, “The champions will be revealed tomorrow evening after the feast.”

Later that evening after being dismissed, the girls of Shanklin Witch returned to where they had landed to find it filled with enchanted tents, each with a sign saying what year the tent belonged to. CeCe and Adella were the first to arrive at the fourth year tent so they both chose the bottom bunk of two of the five bunk beds.

Then all of the other beds were filled by other fourth year girls, who were chattering about who might be the Shanklin Witch Academy champion. After a while, Sydney Holmes, a perky half blood witch, came over to CeCe and Adella. “CeCe, I was wondering,” Sydney said, “As you’re a pure blood, do you know who won the last Triwizard Tournament?”

“Please tell us!” Claire Wilkinson begged.

“Please!” Adella pleaded.

“OK,” CeCe chuckled “From what my dad told me, instead of three champions, there was four,” all of the other girls sat round CeCe to listen “For Durmstrang it was Viktor Krum. An extremely attractive gentleman, who also played for the Bulgarian Quidditch team. For Beauxbaton it was Fleur Delacour. A beautiful young lady, who also was part veela. And For Hogwarts it was Cedric Diggory. A brave young lad. But the four champion was a surprise to everyone. It wasn’t mean to be. The fourth champion was the famous Harry Potter. Vanquisher of Lord Voldemort. He was only fourteen at the time and the rule said no one below the age of seventeen could enter…” So for the rest of the night CeCe was sat on her bed telling the other fourth year girls about the last Triwizard Tournament.
