                                                              Chapter 14

Abby couldn't sleep that night. She kept on thinking about Jamie, the fun they had on top of the greenhouse, the argument, the goodbye. Abby still regretted her goodbye. She could have asked a useful question or suggested Jamie stay with her but no. She hadn't said that at all. Turning over, Abby stared at the glowing screen of her computer. It was still on the page showing a picture of Linda Macore clutching her certificate certifying she had claimed the world record and her address in blaring red letters. Her eyes went over the address again and again. 48 June Drive. 48 June Drive. 48 June Drive. 48 June Drive. 48 June Drive. Her eyes eventually drew themselves away from the screen and onto the little red notebook that Jamie had given her. She felt a pang in her chest, like she had felt when anyone mentioned her mother, as she looked at it. She got up, walked over and picked up the notebook. It felt heavy which was odd since its size was so small. Abby read the message he had left then flicked through the pages. As she reached the end, something caught her eye. Something was on a page. Abby flicked back through the pages and saw a word. KCAB EHT TA KOOL it read. What? Abby read it again. Kcab Eht Ta Kool. Strange, thought Abby. What did he mean? After trying to make sense of the message for what seemed like hours, Abby sighed and threw the book angrily onto her desk. Why did he have to be so difficult? Why couldn't he just be normal? Abby couldn't make sense of Jamie. He was so, backwards. Something pinged in her brain. That's it! Backwards! Abby quickly opened the notebook back up. If Abby spelt the words correctly, so the words weren't backwards any more, it read Look At The Back. Abby smiled. She hurriedly flicked to the back to reveal two sheets of paper that looked exactly like maps. She took them out and looked at it. They had been printed off of a computer. One was going from Abby's house to a destination called Pedro's Pizza Palace and the other lead from Pedro's Pizza Palace to 48 June Drive. Another clue, thought Abby. She looked closer. Beside the destination of Pedro's Pizza Palace was written: 24th August. What? She scanned the page. There was nothing else. Maybe she could search it up? Quickly, Abby slid onto her spinning chair and typed in Pedro's Pizza Palace. According to the website she was on, Pedro's Pizza Palace was open every day apart from the 24th of August, since that is when Pedro rests. So, thought Abby. The way to find Jamie is to go to Pedro's Pizza Palace on the 24th of August. When is the 24th of August? Abby looked at her calendar. TOMORROW! WHAT? Abby had to go to Pedro's Pizza Palace, tomorrow? Abby sighed. If it meant finding Jamie, she'd do it. Happy, Abby took one last look at the directions and saw a stick girl standing smiling outside her house and a stick boy standing smiling outside 48 June Drive. Laughing, Abby climbed back into bed and fell asleep knowing she would see Jamie very, very soon.
