The Initials on My Wrist - 1D Fanfiction

Leah has always wanted to meet one direction. She has a bedroom covered in posters, a billion t-shirts and lets not mention how many concert tickets she has pinned to her wall, because there are more than enough. When her Mom becomes their manager, Leah, being 19, would much rather take her Mom's offer and come on tour with them instead of staying home alone for six months and tags along. The only problem is that it is the middle of summer, and she wont expose her wrists. That counts as sweater's, long sleeve shirts and warm jackets, only to hide two letters, the initials of the person who she secretly loves, and always has. What happens when that same person, doesn't love her back?

15. Chapter Fifteen

Zayn's POV

"It's too bad that was our fifth and final show here, that was amazing." I say, sitting back in the tour bus after our last show. I haven't heard anything from the doctor in the past week so I'm hoping everything is good with Leah. We haven't been able to visit her because of all our crazy work stuff. Not even Harry has gotten to see her, and it's eating him up inside.

It's about nine O'clock and after a long day I get into bed early. I'm just drifting off when my phone rings. "Hello?" "Hello, Mr malik, it is doctor martin. I am so glad I have gotten a hold of you finally. I know you are leaving tomorrow and I have been trying to contact you since the last time Mr.Styles visited. Was your phone off?" The doctor says, worrying me. "Shoot, probably. Paul sometimes turns all our phones off when we have rehearsals so we don't get distracted. He probably turned them back on when we got back from the concert. When can we pick up Leah tomorrow?" I ask, pissed at Paul for turning off our phones again. "I'm not sure if you can. When I came back into her room after Mr.Styles left, there was vomit on the floor. We tried to feed her that day. Her fever is back up to 104. We are going to have to operate on her again and remove the diseased tissue." He says. I curse under my breath, knowing my life would be so different without her. Yes, I admit I like her now, but I have to get over her. Harry is a lucky boy. Tears well up in my eyes and I try to hold it in but I can't. "Thank you doctor. Can we come see her?" I choke out. "Yes you may. All of you. We can't operate on Leah until she is strong enough, if we do it now It could kill her. Her body can't do that right now. It will take two weeks at the most to get her body ready for this. She is asleep now, we have been injecting protein into her body to substitute for food. " The doctor says. "Alright." I whisper, letting my phone drop to the floor.

Harry's POV

I am watching the telly when I hear Zayn crying. I get up and find him sprawled on the floor, bawling. "Bro, whats wrong??" I ask. He stands up. "We have to go see Leah. She is sick again, come on, all of you." He croaks, walking out to the living room and proceeding out the door. "What? How will she come with us?" I ask, shocked, about to start crying just as Zayn was. "I- I don't know if she c-can mate." He says, standing in the rain. "I just don't know." He mutters.

Leah looks beautiful, but so pale sleeping in the hospital bed. The doctor explained everything to us. After all of us sharing our bit of crying and memories with Leah standing around our bed, we all accept the fact that she might not make it. Even her business crazy mother showed up for this, and we called all of her family members. Right now it's just the five of us, the 1D members standing around Leah, praying.

Niall's POV

We kneel around Leah, reading her the last chapter of her 1D book, dare to dream. We have read the whole thing to her while she was sick. We can all barely make it through reading a sentence without getting choked up once again, and breaking out into a cry. One cry makes us all cry, one memory, one thought, one fact. Anything, just looking at her, so sick, so pale. She is so thin. She must have lost twenty pounds. We all quiet down when the doctor walks in. "Hello. I can tell judging my some of your faces that this is really hard on all of you, and I know that it would be hard on anyone. I promise that we are doing our best with her and that whatever happens, happens, but she is in good hands. I have made arrangments with a doctor and they are willing to take her in and give her the proper surgery, but someone must watch her at all times. Give her one of these each time she wakes up along with a glass of water. Make sure she drinks it all," Doctor Martin says, handing us a bottle of pills. "You can come back in the morning to take her. Don't allow her electronics or tv watching because it will harm her eyes, as she is close to critical condition. Read to her, or talk to her as much as possible, it will calm her down because she may start to shake or have seizures at this point, she had one yesterday. Call me if you have any problems." Doctor Martin states, showing us out of the room. We all kiss Leah on the forehead, except for Harry, who kisses her on the mouth. The doctor hands Harry a piece of paper, which we are instructed to give to the closest nurse there is when we arrive at the new hospital. He also hands us a sheet of instructions incase we just zoned out on everything he just told us. We all decided to stay up that night and watch tv in the tour bus. The news show came on where Harry was rude to the paps and pushed them out of the hospital, but everyone was buzzing about Harry and Leah dating. He didn't care, he was happy about Leah and Him dating. And so were we. I think.

Harry's POV

We all stayed up last night, mostly in silence, yet sharing a nervous laugh once and a while. We leave at 6 am to get Leah, I know it's early, but it's worth it. We walk to the hospital again, without talking. The doctor has Leah on a gurney, waiting for us in her room. "Hi, Doctor Martin." I mumble, walking over to Leah. The doctor starts to wheel her out of the room, but I stop him. "It's alright, I'll carry her." I tell him. He nods. I pick Leah up out from under the sheet and I see her beautiful body again, still in that T-shirt with the bandana around her wrist. I totally forgot about whatever she has on there, I'm worried more about her health now.  I pick her up bridal style and see her long arms droop down.

It was a long walk back, we all just stared at Leah the entire time. We decided who was taking what shift to watch her, Zayn and I for the night shifts, one night each, and then we would be at the hospital. Louis, Liam and Niall make up the day shift, switching when one gets tired. When we get back to the bus I lay Leah down in her bed, covering her up. I feel her forehead, awful fever once again. I turn the fan on, facing her, and then her eyes flutter open. She starts to shake and whine. "Whats wrong?" I ask, panicky. She covers her eyes and points to the fan. I turn the fan off, and she immeditaley goes right back to sleep. I chuckle. "The fan really wasn't that loud." I whisper, sitting at a stool in the corner of the room, watching her.

Zayn's POV

It's the last night before we get to the hospital. We should be there bright and early tomorrow, and since I'll be awake all night I'll probably be the one to bring her in.

Leah just went back to sleep after I gave her the third pill for today and a big glass of water, which she happily drank. I slept all day so I will be able to stay awake tonight, but I still fight the urge to drift off into dream land. Leah starts to whimper in her sleep, probably just having a bad dream. I walk over to her and sit on the bed, "shhhhhh," I whisper, stroking her hair. She wakes up. "Zayn?" She asks. "Yes, it's me sweetie. I won't give you another pill, you just had one." I laugh. "I was having a dream, that Harry cheated on me," She whispers. "I was scared, because he hit me then." I almost burst with anger. "He will never do that to you, he loves you. And trust me, if he hurts you, he wont live to see the next day," I say, seriously. "Please stay here, with me," She wimpers. "I'm not going anywhere, I need to watch you." "No, not because I'm sick. Because you love me. Do you love me?" Leah croaks, barely able to speak now. "Of course Leah. I love you. So much. Now go back to sleep darling, you will be at the hospital tomorrow" I whisper, kissing her on the ear. She nods, and then starts to cry. "Shhhhh," I say again, watching her drift off to sleep. So, I stay up stroking her back the rest of the night.
